I think Olimar grew to love the Pikmin....at first he needed them to get off the planet, but in the end he grew attached to them, and in the ending Olimar looks sad when waving goodbye to the Pikmin.....this song is so beautiful.

Some see this as sad... I don't. I see it as the pikmin loving Olimar, and being completely devoted to him, similiar to a faithful hound. They do they're best for Olimar, and in return, are united as a species and taught to acually survive. If they were in the end dead/going to die it would be sad, but from a pikmins view, Olimar was as devoted to them as they were to him.

My theory is that when Pikmin die, the next time you sprout more, the ones that had just died are reincarnated into another Pikmin.

Also, when Olimar leaves you see the Pikmin fighting a Bulborb, suggesting that Olimar has taught the Pikmin survival skills while they helped him survive.

Besides, the Pikmin LIVE on that planet. Did leaving them where they belonged make Olimar a bad person?
