Great song and rendition from its composer. Another all-time favorite Cy Coleman wrote and popularized by Nat Cole - I'm Gonna Laugh You Right Outta My Life, both written I think before he was 30. Thankyou for this rare footage.
A most talented man!....and a most talented piano player!... his piano playing was right up there with the very best of his time, but I don't think he was recognized as such. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform just a few years before he passed away at "Feinsteins" in New York City. He will be truly missed!..
It's truly a beautiful song. I have yet to hear a bad version. Although i adore franks version Fiona Apple did this song great justice. Almost moved me to tears.
Dear Mark, I just saw your comment here on u tube. Oh, how Cy loved you. He called you his love nephew! I hope you and yours are good! Lily and I are well. Missing Cy everyday! Love, Shelby
cy reportedly was a horrible improvisational performer.

Cy is better than Sinatra. My favorite version of this song is Eydie Gorme's rendition. Great song. Also, Steve Lawrence has a recording of it,

I know he is the author of the song, but in this record he wasn't in one good moment. In my opinion, of course.

Fiona Apple is so much better. He misunderstood completly the sadness in the song and rushed it.

@gabrielwark You´re very wrong, he was the author, how couldn´t he misunderstand it!!!

@gabrielwark Funny, you'd think the man who wrote the song would understand it! Guess not.

@gabrielwark Cy Coleman was the composer... he couldn't have "misunderstood" it.

Mark,
your uncle was one of the greatest, and this has recently become my absolute favourite song. Love the harmony, and the lyrics, with all of my soul.
With much love and respect,
Emily
P.S. I hope you're in the music biz too! ;o)
