I'm no rocket scientist - but I'm pretty sure that, since the earth is round, they put the rocket into a slingshot orbit so that it enters space at a curved angle, as opposed to sending it "straight up" as it were. Don't quote me on that. : )
How cool! Glad you were able to see this video. It's amazing to know that this launch involved a roomful of people not only on the east coast, but the west as well!
I think rocket launches are really underrated. You're really lucky to see this huge metal stick fly 12,000 miles in the air
