  • What a great video; thanks for posting!

  • which disney park is that?

  • They were actually going to make the ride based on the movie Atlantis, but when it didn't do that well, they had to wait for a different water-based movie.

  • @softballfreako if they did make the ride based on atlantis, I wonder what the leviathan would've looked like up close?

  • @roboguy75 This is true. However, I don't think the ride would have even looked that great based on Atlantis. I admit, it was a good movie but it didn't seem that it would fit in. I truly wish that they had kept the old submarine ride but had just updated it. Instead, they merely replaced it.

  • does anyone remember a show being on cox 3 maybe a month before the new reopening, there was a program on all about the history of the ride and promoting the new opening. i remember it talked about this one guy who never went to disneyland and still hasn't. anyway, my dvr crash a long time ago and i have been trying to find it ever since. can someone please help me? or does anyone remember the name?

  • I wish the mermaids were still there!!! I like Nemo, but i like The Lettle Mermaid MUCH better!

  • I love the fact that the subs are back. They did a great job with this new version. It has many tributes to the original ride. :-)

  • the tails were awesome even back then

  • This opened on my birthday :D

  • @Pokeeeveegirl COOL!!

  • hahaha, I was listening to a music band called 'The Subs' and I ended up here, wtf :D

  • HAHAHAHAHA, ME TOOO

  • @FabFubar haha :D

  • me too. that band is awesome

  • ya i agree

  • should've been the Little Mermaid =/

  • I hope they brought back the mermaids for it! You know, maybe not the originals (although it would be cool if they came back to instruct the new ones) but the mermaid program.

  • @Scar12 agreed 100%!

  • @Scar12 Go to california adventure in a couple of months

  • i say that they should have done the ride of the little mermaid insted of finding nemo.

  • Why was this person's comment denied so much? All he or she did was give an idea of an option for the ride. Sheesh, peoples.

  • Oh gosh. That would've been so exhilarating and breath taking! In the DVD, they said they dark ride would "take you underwater without getting wet" but underwater would be sooo much cooler :D Just imagine the graveyard of ships and Ursula's wrath underwater!!!! I wonder how they'd pull off Kiss the Girl though.....

  • In WDW, the lagoon was paved over.

In its spot is now a Winnie-the Pooh playground.

Perhaps all of the negative opinions here would rather have that??

  • A Winnie-the-Pooh playground? I don't remember any of those from going there. *checks new Birnbaum Book of Disney* hmm, you're right. But I don't see why they can't recreate the Submarine Voyage somewhere ELSE in WDW. They have more room to expand than the original Disneyland, and they could gear the one in WDW towards TLM instead of Finding Nemo, so the rides are similar but not identical.

  • Nemo was NOT the reason for the original ride's closure.

The original subs closed in 1998, and if it wasn't for this Nemo idea, then the sub ride would NEVER have reopened.

    That's a fact.

  • Nemo was NOT the reason for the original ride's closure.

The original subs closed in 1998, and if it wasn't for this Nemo idea, then the sub ride would NEVER have reopened.

    That's a fact.

And BTW, at the very end there is a serpent shaped rock, as plain as day.

  • That's a fact. Lol, ok. Prove it. What's that, you can't? Might not be a fact then douchie.

  • What? Prove that the Finding Nemo movie was not the reason that they closed the submarine ride?

    Okay. Let's see...

Finding Nemo was made around 2003 to 2005 (I think)

The Submarine Voyage closed in 1998.

Hmm, the subs closed, BEFORE Nemo was created! Could this be proof that Nemo WASN"T the cause of the Subs closing?! I think we have a winner!!

Sarcasm aside, the Subs closed because of maintenance and costs. Nemo is the reason the Subs resurfaced, not the reason they submerged.

    :)

  • I've rode Nemo Twice, the first time I waited a hour and the second time wait was 30 mins long. It's a okay ride, good for really young kids. It's a 12 min ride, kinda boring. I have the whole ride on tape, so i might upload it.

  • they ruined it. finding nemo was a bore and deff. not worth the wait.

  • That's your opinion.

  • Many people think that the original ride was a bore. (not me)

  • OH my goodness

I wish i was older, i want to see the mermaids and the fish!!!

    Or be a mermaid lol

  • BOOO!!!! Give back the mermaids and sea serpent!! I demand it! :{ It sucks that Disney keeps on destroying the classic rides. *weeps*

  • Excuse me, but Nemo was NOT the reason for the original ride's closure.

The original subs closed in 1998, and if it wasn't for this Nemo idea, then the sub ride would NEVER have reopened.

    That's a fact.

  • i hear that the nemo rides sucks or its cheesey but at least Disney Land still has a sub ride not a good one but still has one the 20,000 leauges under the sea ride here in Florida was taken out and was paved over or something like that now a winnie the pooh play ground sits there....I miss the ride dearly.

  • I think this ride sucks, what ever happened to classic Sea Serpents and Mermaids?

  • oh, well if u look really hard u can see the serpent way in the back. lol. y not put him in view. wats wrong with that? instead of him we have wat? digital projectors underwater? i can stay home and watch Finding Nemo. wen i go to disneyland, i want to see the animatronics. they can make the animatronics so good these days. look at pirates of the caribean. the jack sparrows they added look so good. the first time i rode it i thought it was a real guy

  • Unforgettable-because no one will forget their huge mistake. Putting Finding Nemo crap instead of the cool ride it was before.

    Bring back the mermaids!

  • Nemo was NOT the reason for the original ride's closure.

The original subs closed in 1998, and if it wasn't for this Nemo idea, then the sub ride would NEVER have reopened.

    That's a fact.

  • i prefure the mermaid in the first creation it was mroe magical than the robots !

  • AWESOME!! Love this attraction! Check out my channel for more great videos!!

  • they got rid of all of the cool things like the mermaids and the sea serpant for a gay little clown fish

  • dude, screw finding nemo what happened to the marmaids?!?

  • I KNOW! I want the Mermaids back!

  • Disney had to get rid of them after a while, since the climate was really harsh on them and they'd get sunburned all the time, their costumes would rip, things like that. D:

  • The removal of the mermaids had NOTHING to do with the climate. It was the chlorine in the lagoon, and the sheer amount of spectators watching the mermaids.

  • Well, they didn't used to be a waste of time. But then again, that AWFUL movie finding nemo wan't around... AW! The mermaids!!! WOOF! GRRRRRRR! *wolf whistle*

They got rid of the sea serpent?!?! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

CURSE YOU, FINDING NEMO! I HATE YOOOOOOU!

  • do you use medicines?

  • I should.

  • i can see that

  • At least they didn't pave it over into a frikkin' winnie the pooh playground like they did to the WDW 20,000 leagues...

  • This attraction sucks unless you are still drooling or in diapers. 3 hours we waited in 90 degree heat! AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!!

  • You have no imagination.

  • Oh but I do! shelling out close to $64 per person to enter my imagination, only to IMAGINE that I will somehow get back the 3 hours I invested in this fluff! The most entertaining part of the ride's queue was watching the 45 year mouseketeers, trying to regain their youth while filming a Nemo promo. Pathethic!

  • I've been on it, I enjoyed every minute of it. It's probably just the nostalgia of being in the submarines again that kept me happy...

  • I'm going in like 1 1/2 months! Can't wait! Woot!

Then I'm going to Walt Disney World next year...I hope. My parents said we might, and I really hope...

  • the nemo ride is beyond what i could have expected! good job disney imagineers!!

  • I love this ride!!

  • Yeah. The new Finding Nemo Ride is awesome :)

  • O.K. - Good start. Now bring back Sky Cups & put the Rocket Jets back in place of that absurd sculpture over the People Mover! J.C. Skip '79

  • that ride was seriosuly my favorite ride when i was two. when they closed it, i was so sad. im so happy its reopened yayy!

  • i'm worried how the new ride's gonna turn out. i'm excited to ride the sub's again but i'm not to thrilled that it has to be based on finding nemo cause i didn't care at all for that movie. the one thing that i liked about the movie are the sea gulls and thats it.

  • I hope they have fastpass for this one, I'm gong next saturday. I hope the line isn't TOO long!

  • There will be no Fastpass for this Attraction. Your best chance is to ride it early in the morning.

  • Yeah! I can't wait to go but I'll stay away for a bit.. no 3hr lines for me!I have gone to Disneyland like my whole entire life, this is th efirst year I didn't get a year pass in like 5 yrs tho. I can't wait!

  • awesome

  • AH! OMG my fave ride is going to be open when I go to LA!!!! This is the best news I've heard all day! *dies*

  • Um Disneyland is an hour south of LA..

  • I know. We're going to make a couple day trips there :)

  • Disneyland is in Anaheim which is Orange County not LA

  • sellouts!! It's *Captain* Nemo -- not *finding* Nemo -- why does everything have to be a cross-sell??

  • wow , cant wait to go to disneyland is october this year!! this was one of my favorite rides and it is goign to be back! and also the sea serpent was my favorite!! cant wait to look for a memoir of him!

  • It was on the Disneyland Resort Podcast.

  • what show did you get this from?

  • oh yes so exicted. thank god that disneyland is only a half hour away from my house and i have a passport! whoo! Totally going on opening day!

  • I'm on the opening crew for Finding Nemo and it is awesome. You guys are in for a treat. See you June 11th!

  • Good to know the subs will be back in action. It was a treat to ride this attraction many years ago, and now I look forwoard to seeing this new attraction open. This ride is sure to be a treat for all... young and old at heart!

  • fingding nemo takeover the submarine voyage!

  • Same here, allthough I'll have to wait until the summer of 2008.
