  • we hurt the ones we love in order to protect them. thats i feel when i watch this video.

  • Somebody says "At least one feminist group tried to ban this song" - fuck em I'm a 62 year old rocker and this is a baad song -meaning good ! This feminist group must be headed up by a couple of BULLDYKES !

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • @theroc5851 no yeah!

  • Listened to this ever since I was a child.

  • How could you not love this song??? Beautiful voice :)

  • One of the best bad-singers I know. I mean, I love his voice, as nasely and awkward as it is. I don't know, it seems like it's just bad singing, but it takes skill to sing like this and sound good. Don't flame me! It's a complement!

  • lôl_I_fÈÈl_so_l0NÊlý_tòDaY

  • 420tomcat: If you dont like said lyrics. Make your own. If you want to bash on his great work. Then so be it, you dont like them. I get that. KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!! Honestly, thats incredibly rude. If you think you can do better. Show me, homie. And nagertrank, you did a great job. Dont let that douche tell you otherwise.

  • @thethorism Internet tough guy

  • @thethorism dude nagertrank fixed the lyrics in description after i brought it up now it is perfect and complete for everyone who does not already know the lyrics chill listen to mb20 and smoke up this is an old convo from months back quit being a troll :P

  • 420tomcat: If you dont like said lyrics. Make your own. If you want to bash on his great work. Then so be it, you dont like them. I get that. KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!! Honestly, thats incredibly rude. If you think you can do better. Show me, homie.

  • @Link0126 ??? he removed them?

  • i luv this song specially from matchbox :)

  • miss this type of Grunge!

  • i love the hardcore headbang stuff....and matchbox =)

  • Matchbox 20 is one of the greatest bands to me n.n

  • I dont know why you ever would lie to me, when Im a little untrusting, when I think the truth is gonna hurt you,And I dont know why you couldnt just stay with me,You couldnt stand to be near me,when my face dont seem to wanna shine, cause its a little bit dirty

  • dont get me wrong this is a great video and thank you for posting i am just frustrated that NOWHERE on the internet can you find correct lyrics but i will say that NAGERTRANK is the closest to getting it correct congrats man it would be awesome if you could correct the description for the sake of true matchbox twenty fans i know it would be MUCH appreciated :)

  • @420tomcat well I am really sorry. I tried to correct the lyrics, are they better now?

    Thanks for the advice =)

  • @420tomcat

True mb20 fans already know the lyrics, so stop being that kid...

  • WHAT THE HELL!! i have been all over the internet and no body can seem to get the lyrics right on this amazing song! how stupid do you have to be to not realize he is CLEARLY saying "and i dont know if i've ever BEEN REALLY loved" also this video in particular in your discription you also missed "AND i feel like somethin's gonna give" you also incorrectly placed a chorus in front of "dont just stand there say nice things to me" it belongs at the end of "i wont do anything at all"

  • life sucks sometimes, but listening to this makes me feel alittle better

  • I love the song but your lyrics are off quite a bit, please if your going to provide them, be as correct as possible because I believe that was your intent.

  • Every time I hear this song, I get hit with nostalgia HARD.

  • one of the doctor detroit fav's!

  • @THRILLAKILLA187 Thank you Dr. Detroit I am loving this tune!

Thank you @nagertrank for an awesome post

  • @2009Denisem ur very welcomed! Mwah!

  • OK, its late 1997 or early 1998. Dude, I had black airwalks (the orginal ones, i remember!), L.E.I. tight jeans an extra small Nirvana t shirt, had a horrible eating disorder even though I was 110 pounds I bleached my hair and dyed my bangs pink with kool aid, I worshipped Buffy the vampire slayer, Third eye blind, Matchbox20, Stone temple pilots, 7dust, Rage against Machine and Chili Peppers. I had a crush on lead singer of Garbage but was in love with the "moody" alternative boy in skool!

  • I loved him then, I love him now, he is a phenominal artist and so very sexy

  • To my friend Joseph Hoffman.. I miss you man.. Love you! Samantha

  • ♥ this song - but I don't like the lyrics, "...I wanna push you around, I will, I will I wanna push you down, I will, I will I wanna take you for granted...." They sound kinda mean or even a bit sexist. Like, "I'm the man in this relationship, and if I want to treat you like shit, I will!"

  • @psychodelicide That's the whole point of the song though, and as far as I know, it's not supposed to be like sexist or anything.

  • @IAmJeremy1242 That's what one of my friends told me as well, so I'm going to have to believe it. :-)

  • @psychodelicide actually the song was about the lead singers ex girlfriend who treated him like shit and gave all his stuff away so this is kind of about what she did to him and his revenge that he never took on her. its about relationships that don't work basically... nothing against women haha

  • @earlwarthog Thanks for the scoop; I did not know that. The ex-girlfriend sounded like she was a bitch.

  • @psychodelicide

Uhhh. You know this song is about an abusive guy in a relationship, right?...So yeah, you got the message. Welcome to the song.

  • @TheHumanDove I didn't know that, this song was an abusive guy in a relationship, until someone else explained it to me. :-) This is a good song.

  • @psychodelicide actually it's not... that's a common misconception. From Songfacts: "At least one feminist group tried to ban this song, believing that it encouraged violence toward woman. The ploy failed when the band explained that it was about emotional, rather than physical confrontation, and dealt with female on male mental harm, not the other way around. Lead singer Rob Thomas has said that this is evident to anyone who listens to the lyrics and not just the chorus".

  • i remember this from when i was little.

  • I'm 15 and i hate mainstrean crap. So no, theres some lucky ones out there who know good music from bad.

  • @sppatrick6 Lol, you do realize this was a very popular mainstream song in the 90s right?

  • @thaaeroprincess87 Haha well yeah, but it's not anymore. It's not something people my age would listen too now..

  • @sppatrick6 true I guess :)

  • one of my favorite 90s rock songs... this was a good time for music, what the hell happened? i sound old now, lol

  • oh my god MEMORIES...

  • i'm 15.love this song its one of the best.

  • hey i grew up in the 90's but i listen to all kinds of music even the old oldies like the big rock candy mountain, which was like in the 30's but now days music isnt nothing like the rest of the music, now days mostly sucks, they put to much instruments in the background and you cant hear there voices, and i hate to much shit in the background, they dont need alot of background music to have a good song just listen to this song. all new artist need to take lessons from the older generations

  • Then what are we waiting for everybody? Let get the Old Matchbox Twenty back! And I mean it now!

  • This has become on of my favorite songs <3

  • Dude it's been years.... me and my mom used to listen to this song, it was one of her favorites. R.I.P. Thank you uploader brings back fond memories of listening to music with my mom.

  • Man the clothing in the pic is soooo 90's . Lovin Rob's pants lol Regardless, awesome song!

  • This song is forever dated to the summer of 1997 for me. I miss no other times like I miss the 90's..and the 80's. Music these days has no meaning. It's all about the look now, and how stupid is that. I agree with the above poster in saying that the 90's truly was the last decade for good music. Yes, there are a few songs today that stand out, but not like this. I would give so much to be able to go back for just one day....cheers to the 90's!!!!!!

  • I love MAtchbox 20 , todays music is about lust, alcohol, and a country man losing his wife. Oh, and the occasional airplane.

  • Has to be one of my favorite love songs ever!!!

  • there are no words to express how much i love this song:)its amazing!

  • i listen to everything from blue grass to hip hop , yea i listen to wayne sometimes it doesnt make me some conformist , i think its stupid when people rag on other peoples music just listen to what sounds good to your ears and not worry bout everyone else, accept that other people have different tastes

  • love this song i forgot the name of it for soo long tho...

  • awesome thank ya

  • Not totally in line with the DT's, but I sure feel like Pushing someone around today...lol

  • Welcome To My Life!

  • GREATEST ALBUM of the 90's !

  • i love matchbox 20 <3

  • @rivercityfatman -_- rap is a retarded attempt at music.

    You wish.

  • This song is TIMELESS! Matchbox20 makes me feel happy. I love them live & acoustic!

  • holy cr*p!!!!!!!! i didnt know this was by them!!!!! sorry im young but wow ya

  • wow sexy

  • never realize how much I can get from this song it great

  • reminds me of her. ahh damnit.

  • I really shouldn't enjoy this song as much as i do xD

  • I miss those days...no worries...saw them when they first came out...my drunk cuz ask Rob Thomas when he got on the elevator if he was going to see Matchbox 20...he just looked at her and said yeah..I waited until he got away from her to tell her who she was talking to...we still make fun of her!

  • Haha! thats class! aww bless - they cant all be on the train at the first stop! xx

  • wow

  • @blinddog420

That is some funny shit!! Hahaha!

  • @dragonsteer09 She was so drunk...Rob looked like he was deer in headlights...I was the only one in our group who recognized him LOL! I still give her hell!

  • @blinddog420 lmao was she mad when she found out?

  • @sarahpage01 Oh Yes she bitched for months but I still tell her I've never been so drunk I didn't know who Rob Thomas was!!!

  • @blinddog420 lmao wow

  • Does anybody miss the Old Matchbox Twenty? Not the song but the ones with 5 members? I Do!

  • Great song nagertrank love it

  • not to pick nits but its actually:

"I don't know if I've ever been Really Loved

by a hand that's touched me..."

    .

'a hand' (singular tense) indicates that the singer trusts no one (s)he's ever known closely.

  • @tcdarden13 what exactly is happening with this hand?

  • i suppose that is open for interpretation.

it's a fair question, but i'm afraid i dont have a ready answer for it.

  • XD reading Acheron (by Sherrilyn Kenyon) and he starts playing this song. I was like WOOHOO!

  • (I wanna push you around well I will well I will !!)

  • back when "highschool/college" rock kicked ass

  • YES!

  • nice song :)

  • She said I don't know if Ive ever been good enough. I'm a little bit rusty, and I think my head is caving in. And I don't know if Ive ever really been loved. By the hand that's touched me, well I feel like something gonna give.

The last words I said to my friend.

    r.i.p. -xoxo

  • love this band , then I saw rob Morrow interviewed as a soloist and thought what a dick!

  • @auscrawl I always thought he seemed like a nice guy. what interview did you see

  • oh some very bad music show in australia forget the name now, he was talking about his wife and just seemed to be very pretentious talking about personal life. Maybe when just talking about the band he isnt.

I still think he has great talent and still love all the bands music

  • this song rocks man

  • OMG love this song man the 90's has to be the last best decade

  • totally agree.......the 90's was indeed the last great era for good pop-rock

  • man back when we didn't have to worry if there was a 25 cent different in gas and u could go all the places u wanted to go with out any worries man o man i mis those days

  • @dominicansteel

well actually their where some good songs in the very early 00's like disturbed, deftones, bush, linkin park ect.... but now-a-days music is just plain shit

  • @rebelformetal true there were some good songs in the early 00's i would say up untill about 03 is when it went down hill

  • @dominicansteel

    fow show

  • @rebelformetal yea its sad isnt it

  • You guys ever think music taste has less to do with age and more simple preference?

"I'm 13 and I love this song!" Um, I don't care? Not everyone sticks to the current mainstream, we all have different tastes so STFU or GTFO. This music is GREAT, and me being 19 has NOTHING to do with it. lol

  • Couldnt agree with you more. I'm only 20 and i love the beatles, led zepplin, meat load, silver chair, celine dion, guns n' roses. Music doesnt have a time. It's for everyone. It's an outlet for your emotions!

  • Lol I agree most rap sucks. But there is other music in the 20th century that is great.Like Dido.

  • Holy shit..my life for the last 15 years summed up word for word by strangers who know nothing about me. How did they do that? *laughs*

  • I <33 Rob Thamos so much! This is one of my favorite songs by Matchbox Twenty.

  • I couldn't agree more... kids nowadays don't know any of the good songs ...such a waste. Its sad to think our culture will be lost from those times. (we can always try and pass it on)

  • that's not true for "all" kids murpheyslaw83

I'm 16 and I prefer this kind of music...it has more meaning. I still like today's music, but listening to the lyrics they're not that great. A lot suck lol.

  • lol. Everybody in here is right. all music before this current decade has been awesome! The past 9 years of music, there has been a handful of "good" music and the rest is just horrible and atrocious. Lets see, rappers? Is that even music technically? Probably not. All current generation rap is just a dude blirting out random words or even worse a dude rapping about things degrading to women. That's not something you should be proud to stand for. And yes, tell them to sing, not use auto-tune.

  • i love the 80's infact i love the 60's 70's and 90's, but i hate the shit that's on the radio now. like lil wayne, i could be lil wayne. alls i have to do i whine and transform my voice. that's not music, seriously

  • @richtra369

That is exactly the kind of thing that needs to be shoved up his arrogant, voicedead face. You tell them man :)

  • yes i agree!!!

  • love my musice, but plaz dont hate on lil wayne, he is legendary, and an amazing artist. i have a wide voriety but lil wayne is amazing u just need too open up and listen a little harder. music i inspiration and inspiration can come from alot and many people you wouldnt expect. :) love tghe players not the game. lol

  • @surferboiibrandon Lil Wayne is not amazing he's a fag

  • @richtra369 did you ever seriously think that rap was music?

  • @ComaAlpha Rap is the worst type of music ever! Period.

  • @richtra369 Okay, I agree the things on the Radio now, have no value, BUT There are good artist, and you decided to make fun of a man i look up too. Lil' Wayne has had it rough, and he held is head up high, He and Eminem Sing about life not just cars woman and drugs. Listen to the lyrics before you judge our generation.

  • @grapeslushie101 ok so little wayne has had it rough. big deal. so has biggie smalls 50 cent tupac and eminem. tthey actually rap about shit that matters. i'm not trying to put lil wayne down, but he is nothing compared to all those other rappers. and the other thing is. they rap. they dont alturnate their voice with some techo shit. and if anything i would b the one listening to lil wayne because this is my generation. i'm 17 and i kno music of all differant kinds. lil wayne just wants doe.

  • I agree.

  • The thing with people saying that different decades has better music or not, is not looking at the whole picture. It might seem that the 80s or whatever decade had all this great music, but that is because that you are only hearing the best of the best on the radio etc. I asked my parents, and they said that the amount of shitty songs was still roughly the same in the 80s, its just that people these days only ever hear the hits.

  • well.... I WILL

  • i think im going to listen to this song befor i move to guatemala for 3 months im 17 and i hate the radio

  • music nowadays, most have no souls, no inspiration... only few give life to their songs and music... just like this band...

  • i agree with you 100%. music nowadays is dead and boring and there is no effort put into anything. i miss the old days, the 80's...when music was good with groups like human league and tears for fears, heart etc

  • @gary42484 tears for fears being the only group worth mentioning in your comment, the 80's were an all time low for music.

  • lol the 80's were NOT an all time low. tears for fears is awesome and they made great music. i could sit here for an hour or more and list all awesome songs and/or groups. the 80's was a time when music was good. at least compared to shit nowadays. its all crap. 80's and 90's were an awesome time for music. people are just used to the shit on the radio now. they forget what REAL music is like

  • This song is great!!!! Totally relatable and the type of song that brings you back a few years!

  • THIS TAKES ME BACK!! lol good days

  • radio music and mtv are now targetted to kids,,thank god theres the internet

  • Johnaaboc. They always have been. You related to it when you were younger. It's ok, we forget these things.

  • yeah lol! i forgot im getting older hahaha..

  • im only 14 and i hate mtv and the radio so not all of us are culturally dead

  • @blackmonjt I am 17 now and i have the same opinion as you have =)

    greetings

  • @nagertrank I feel the same way sometimes cuz the radio is always playing the song you hate not the one you love & MTV is... Indescrible

  • Hating everything thats popular because its popular, if thatd indeed how you see things, makes you just as conformist as the conformists.

  • my point was that i wont like something because its popular...not that i dislike it because its popular

  • Good kid right here.

  • @blackmonjt I think older generations forget they were 14 at one point too.

  • @blackmonjt So you're saying theres more to life than fame, sex and money?

  • @blackmonjt it's not that bad. You should still listen to it to keep up with trends. Keep an open mind and opportunities won't be limited to you. Embrace the diversity and you will find true happiness - no matter how much you don't like it.

  • @pavankat I listen..to keep up with the times? Hmm, well all it does, for the most part, is glorify everything that's wrong with our world. There are exceptions but they're really far and few between anymore.

    Peace

  • @blackmonjt i broke the dial on mine so it's always on a classic rock station :D

  • 444

  • me too!

  • Agreed!!

  • top 40 songs are intolerable nowadays

i'd rather have music like this any day

  • yeah same, with ↓

    those days were awesome

    wake up everyday feeling good

instead i have to switch 20 different stations to find a good song,

so now i got my ipod no radio, thanks to lil wayne and gaga bullshit,

this world is slowly falling apart

  • I completely agree with you. This song definetly reminds me of my roots.

  • i agree wit henderson,i whould have pulled the trigger along tym ago,but have no bullets..hahaha...miss thoze dayz when u wake up and u didnt have to shut the radio off because of shiit songz

  • someone needs to stand up on the radio and take that lady gaga bullshit that makes me want to put a bullet in my brain off and put the old good music that actually effected your mood like this song. 5 stars for a great song

  • Amen to that. This song represents the days when music used to be good.

God I miss those days. :(

  • Whether music has ever been "good," or not, is subjective.

  • that finally happen to the radio channel i listen to, all good rock, and this song was on, which shows to good stuff they are playing.

  • defently the better version

    nice job!

  • 90's rock awesome.today too much disney kid pretend to be rocker.

  • got that right way. im tired of all this hannah montana crap

  • Definatley in agrement with powerstroke2504X4 . this song rocks!!!
