@joe44850 *This isn't true heartware (hahaha) because you need to drag your laptop along*
Hardware means (in a pratical way) anything that you can touch and software are the oposite. So yes, Maschine is a HARDWARE CONTROLLER like any other groove box, with de difference that the processing of information occurs on the computer not in the CONTROLLER itself. A groove box is a combination of hardware and software standalone.
beats beats beats...... ya its all slick and everything.. but what about people making real music..... do you see Stevie Wonder messin with hip hop? no. he writes proper tunes.. any kid can play hip hop beats , drag drop. cut paste.....its a reason i got rid of korg M3.... it makes you lazy.... all the beats are there. and you get lost in someone else's ideas.. making music from scratch is DA REAL DEAL.... but.. I do like taking hip hop TYPE beats and making real songs. Check out DEEP FOREST
Not saying what you mentioned is not true to an extent, but you need to check out 9th Wonder's interview with SC:TV & their discussion of the Art of Sampling. Peeps just don't understand sampling & 9th explains it wonderfully here & I agree 100% because I love making sample based beats! The name is....
Hey there ..! I have 2 technics turntables and a djm 800 and the serato live and i just bought this Maschine and i know it connects to the computer but can i opperate this maschine through the mixer or do i just make my music on the computer and then transfer it to serato live to play on the turntables....? dose anybody know about this..? any answers would be greatful...!
I think either way would work. Create your tracks then mix them down and spin them with serato or what i'd do is use it as a live instrument and plug it to a channel on your DJ mixer and mix on top of it. If you get familiar enough with the workflow you could probably do a whole show with just the maschine. There is no right way experiment and see what you can come up with.

@Paladinoocara Thanks for the semantics clarification. So, does that mean I can leave my laptop at home?

@joe44850 *So, does that mean I can leave my laptop at home?*
I don't know if it is a ironic question, but anyway, in order to use it, you need to carry your laptop with you.
