Pilot truck stops, just settled for a 70,000 FCC fine for selling these radios.. Truckers and Companies are being fined on a daily basis. Truckers are being fired for using them..
The illegal operation is not only a frequency violation, but also a mode violation.. SSB is tearing up the morse code or CW portion of this band.
Truckers have learned nothing about radio communications, following FCC rules or anything else.. Stay off our frequencies we are watching and reporting.
. There is no problem with the 40 cb channels... This is about the 40 + 10 meter operation that encroaches on ham radio bands that are protected internationally..
Not true freebander just clueless truckers that have no clue were in the band the are!True freebanders use sideband and hams proabley don't even notice them.Truck driver don't need the cheap ass am/fm export radios they have they only need 40 channels!!
You CBers have no clue, you don't need an illegal Mod to listen to CB bands. Almost any stock Ham radio can listen from 3.5 Mhz to 30Mhz. It's only Transmission thats restricted. What the poster is showing is how absolutely horrible the Audio sounds and how much Bandwidth you guys are using up. If that was a proper Ham setup on AM using that amount of BW it would sound like a studio broadcast, not like two guys with soup cans.
Earn the right to be operate on the bands by passing the license test. You Have to get a drivers license to drive on t he highway. You want your doctor to have a license to operate on you...Many other examples as to why tests & licenses are needed for your protection. If you are not good enough or just too stupid to pass the test then stay off the bands. They are here for those of us who can make the grade.
If it weren't for licensed HAMS ..YOU would not have your CB bands to operate on. Go check out the history. We made the sacrifices and the ARRL lobbied the government to allow access to the frequencies YOU cb'ers have a free ride with today. So don't tell me about any rights you freebanders think you have to the frequencies. You over modulate, your audio sounds like garbage and the only thing I hear you say are 4 letter words. So consider the mentality here.
It isnt about being better than you. It is about knowing more than you about band operation and frequency allocations, FCC rules, propagation etc.. Why do you think that cb'ers have one band and we have many? We have taken the time to learn these things. By your logic, why shouldn't a licensed 4 wheeler , be able to drive an 18 wheeler without a trucker's license?
@bevisponcho ease up big fella. My comment wasn't about the video itself but rather a comment that was on here which no longer exists . this is why you will see the @speedpussycat at the start of my comment.
I am a ham radio operator here in VK and understand the purpose of the clip completely. So please refrain from your 'you have no idea' comments until you have a complete grasp of the situation yourself.
Wait... Wouldn't an Icom 756 have to have an illegal mod in order to even hear them? And why the hell are you surprised that a couple of truckers would have dirty signals?
do you have any clue as to what I said....? or are you a poser wana be ham? or a ham that doesnt know anything but the ham test? maybe you are just a dummy with a spendy radio???? If you were posting this vid on youtube to gain a pat on the head or a cookie from the ham community......I can honestly say you have failed 73's
who gives a crap they arent on our 10 meters.....what are you doing there..? dont worry mr fellow ham they are too stupid and not broadbanded enough to talk there long so you know their swr if off the chart with the frequency that far up with a semi truck ant. nice 1c7000
Golden Screwdrivers. They peak the modulation, the AM power, add a power mic, and then hold their mic to thier lips and talk loud. They'll never learn!
Why, that's minor ... you should see what a 1,000 Watt Gates BC-1G ex-broadcast transmitter can do when re-tuned to the 80 Meter band and then has RF/audio chain feedback issues!!
@mmxpr U are rite 27.916 isnot 10 meters and as a ham hamwave should know that. Im a ham my self an aslong as cbers stay away from the ham bans which they dont have a lics to use i have no problem with them. aS A MATTER OF A FACT I HAVE A CB RADIO IN MY VAN RIGHT ALONG WITH MY HAM RADIOS.
CBers aren't happy unless every meter they own is swinging wildly to the right with horrible distorted audio. They need a few lessons about audio dynamics.
common those guys were not transmitting in radio amateur freq. so why the fuss. by the way in my country the cb phenomena is dying out, many people consider it as folklore and tradition. here and there you still hear 2 lost old 70 yo 27 mhz cb pirates on the waves brabling about their backpains, thats it.
Really, the less intelligible the signal, more echoey and the most annoying roger beep make for the greatest signal. It just shows how many more toys ol' skip has.
And at school and in town its another thing: if you don't have a pair of collinear phased CB antennas at least 9' tall on your Ford F-150 with tennis balls on them, then you're not cool...radio not necessary though.
I heard a lot of CB activity but for some reason, none on 10 meters, except for an illegal mexican CB station up on 28.3 mHz. Sometimes I listen to the CB to check up on 10m propagation, but its really unreliable since a bunch of the cbers use ungodly amounts of power.
My apologies for the misdirected comment via @speedpussycat from Denmonkey...

Why do you licenced ham ponces always think you are better than freebanders?
You passed a test, good on you,but who cares?
Freebanding will always appeal to people when you lot rant on about how good you THINK you are.
At the end of the day,a good qso is all that matters, whoever its with licenced or not.

I've been looking for an FT-100 myself to put in the car. Good little radio, shame its discontinued.
