You can get all emeralds if you use the level select code and play the stages one by one by Resetting the console at the end (not OFF switch!)

There's a weird glitch in this game...

If you fiddle with the options screen long enough, you can force the game to start with the 7th emerald first, making the 6th emerald last. Can't remember how to do it, though.

I did this with my cousin playing Tails. Apart from one instance where I was forced to punch my cousin in the face due to him buggering up the third special stage by bumping into bombs three flipping times, it went well and I got all the Emeralds by the second level of the Chemical Plant Zone. ^^

you know theres a cheat. (if you have sonic mega collection plus) Go to sonic 2. Put on the level select code (19, 65 , 9, 17) then press O plus start then at the title screen press SQUARE plus start. it should take you to the level select. in the level select screen on the sound test put in 4, 1, 2, 6 then select any level. Get 50 rings or more then jump and your super sonic enjoy. NOTE: THIS CHEAT I FOUND FOR PS2 VERSION!!!

good job i would spend countless hours getting them and eventualy i got all 7 in the first world with out cheating but i can do it with tails with sonic using knuckles you keep the rings after the end ot the special stage so you dont have to get them over againi know that its possible to get 4 in the first level i just dont rember where the damn star post is anymore the second stage has at least 5 in it
