@brepettis The People's Republic of China is a communist government. If you read the Communist Manifesto you will see that the plan the communists have to take over the world is to control the "means of production." Every manufacturing job sent to China plays right into their hand. Many people say that the West is better off in the service sector. The problem with this is that the service sector is very shallow. A strong economy must be based on a deep network of interconnected companies.

@Ptooie china unlike the usa back in the 1930s relies on imports of raw commodities for production of higher value goods, it needs to maintain trade relations in order to get the resources for its economy. So the moment it stops being peaceful is the moment the resources it needs stop flowing in.
