mines sorta has the same mechanism but the gear spins much to fast. i already used all my gearss....(i only have a few) and because of that when i use full auto it can only hold 10(every quarter rotation)

Kaspall Yes, you use a firing mechanism that's very similar to mine. The differece is your gear ratio and you don't have my spinny thingy.

I made a semi-auto k'nex gun using the same rubberbands, but 6 rubberbands are giving so much power that a knex piece will break if you don't construct it very well, how can you get 20 on that gun?

wessellonus The rubber bands are old/used and aren't as strong as new ones and the gun is strong/sturdy.

Wait... How is it that the rubberbands don't spin the gear and shoot in standby (when you're not shooting)? This seems to happen on my rubber band turret all the time. Also, do you have a huge gear reduction? Please respond.

RadioactiveLegos The firing mechanism (a thing pressed against a gear, kinda like the mechanism on a winch)prevents the big 40 toth gear from rotating in one direction (forward/firing) but not in the other direction (backwards/loading) unless the trigger is pulled.

The spinning thing (the thing that spinns on the right side when the gun is firing) rotates 45 times for every rotation of the big 40 toth gear.

i made a gun similar to this. it was great except for the fact that the eight tooth gear exploded. how do you avoid this problem?

deycallmecubanpete Maybe if you use two big gears and two 8 toth gears then the pressure on each 8 toth gear would only be half. The gun seen in this video was loaded with old rubber bands so it would maybe not hold for new rubber bands.
