I'm 42 now.i will say this about wrestlers. they were all humble cool guys back in HS. many football players jerks at times. i play lacrosse,baseball, and basketball, but never wrestled. a friend almost talked me into going out 4 it. I became a skydiver in my 20's and almost killed myself doing it. bad break in my leg stops me from doing alot these days. If there is 1 sport i wished i tried it was wrestling. it's never going to happen for me, but i respect it very much. Vision Q is great film.

such a great movie. I think I have seen it at least 20 times. Always gets me in the end with the great music and underdog victory. They just don't make movies like this anymore. It's all choreographed, formula crap coming out of Hollywood now. Amazing that a stupid wrestling movie like Vision Quest could be such a tear jerker.

@ElsuperCon I know your comment is 4 months old, but I thought I'd shoot ya an answer. This movie was filmed in Spokane, Wa at several local high schools. I attended Mead High at the time, the center of the wrestling universe :). The referee of this final match in the movie is Cash Stone, my wrestling coach. Everything I learned about toughness and perserverance, I learned from that man and this sport. Cheers.

Dont get me wrong, I love this movie. But seriously, one time could we get a wrestling movie with actual wrestlers. The guy who played Shoot wasnt too bad on the mat. But you can tell neither him or Louden are state champ material. Theyd both get crushed wrestling like that

This was one of the best feel good sports movies of the 80's, right up there with, and IMO, better than even Hoosiers, which was phenominal. Also, Carla made the movie. They made it soo realistic that in High School you have so much testosterone,of course if you're wired right, that sex is something that you think abiout literally once every 3-5 minutes. Carla gave him just what the boy needed but was mature enough at her age to know what to do so he would focus on the goal. 10 of 10!

BEST WRESTLING MOVIE!!! It's a shame that people don't realize the blood and tears that wreslters go through, but that's right!!! They want to watch a "TALL DRINK OF WATER" throw a ball into the net!!! SHIT, basketball players couldn't stand 30 minutes in the wrestling room and they are getting all the "GLORY"!!!

Yeah it was always interesting when the "ballas" tried coming into the wrestling room...nothing like 200 pound boys getting flexed by a 125 pound man..hahah..swagger holds no weight on the mat. Its pretty obvious they have no battle tactics when they "scuffle" on the court. Jermaine O'Neil and Chris Childs are the only ones I ever seen throw a good punch

I saw this today and it made me tear up. This movie just reminds me so much of my last wrestling season; trying to cut down to 160, going in for morning workouts, pre season lifting, and traveling to tournaments with all my wrestling buddies. This movie is just so great and does a terrific job of accurately showing what high school wrestling is like. The last match of the movie just reminds so much of how my last match went; two athletes taking all they have out onto the mat and going at it.
