Yes, Haku is well known for her drinking addiction. She drinks because she's depressed that she can't sing as well as Miku. Apparently there is a rumor going around that Haku Yowane was adopted by the creators of Vocaloid and they are going to give her a voice.

this is half true, Haku-chan has been "adopted "by Crypton, so she's now a canonical character(they recognize her existence, not just another simple fan-made, she even had appeared in the vocaloid manga) but they aren't going to give her a Voice, if you want to use haku, use use in an inapropiate way the miku's software, or if you want to use her "in the right way" the "official" tone given by the fans is tow octaves lower than miku, also she has recieved a voice in UTAU (with the same level)
