your gear can change according to the items you equip, but you can choose for it not to change.

When you complete different tasks you are granted bonus pieces of armor which you can then customize and add to your character as you see fit giving them different abilities. It's a pretty fair trade off seeing as how you can really customize your hero extensively right from the beginning.

Graphics in DC Universe look better, but the gameplay in Champions looks deeper... I have no idea which will be more fun, but I'm looking to Champions Online and will probabaly give it a try.

Yeah don't worry, it's still in alpha, so EVERYTHING is still being worked on, lol. I've read so many stupid comments about the game which jump to conclusions, when it hasn't even reached beta yet, lol.
