What the hell is a "real" doctor? Ignorant ass knows nothing about the DNP program, requirements, criteria or even the difference between a person with a doctorate and someone who has attended medical school. You are stupid as hell if you believe that you need a medical doctor each time you go to the hospital or clinic. A DNP, FNP etc. is another person with adequate knowledge, education and experience that could assist in time of need. Why don't you do some research before posting.
How is the job situation in Florida. I have a BSN good grades went on scholarship and my own Universities hospital system will not hire and I am in a NP program because I can not get a job.
Still not a real doctor. No matter how much training they think they have, it can't compare to the training that actual physicians go through. Seriously, if they have the same capabilities as doctors, why don't these DNP's go to medical school? See how long they can survive. And don't get me wrong, respect the DNP's; they have a role in healthcare, but some of these "doctors" are overstepping their boundaries.
@chrslbrt She is a doctor if she has a doctorate - she's earned a doctorate-level degree, and thus the title. However, she isn't a physician - that's a different medical field. As such, I don't think calling a NP with a DNP 'Doctor' is wrong or misleading, so long as the patient understands the difference between the two, which is really an education issue.
At the end of the day, nurses are better at some things compared to physicians - but they ultimately work best for the patient as a team.
and why is she not a real doctor? What about the people who get there Ph. D in chemistry or business , they are not "real
"doctors? She is not trying to be a physician, she just wants to further her education in the field that she loves, what's wrong with that? I want to get my DNP as well and I am no way trying to be a medical doctor or get that "Dr." title.
Why are you comparing medical school with the DNP program, they are totally different. DNP is on nursing practice and medical school on practicing medicine.
I am in graduate school for Family Nurse Practitioner. Although I would love to be finished with school, I am gonig to go on for my Doctorate in Nursing Practice. The field of DNP is going to explode in the next 10 years. The opportunities are going to be unreal. Congradulations.
