  • my m4 is good thx

  • What is the point of this video since there is no explanation of how to do it? Seems to me that since no techniques are explained, this video is pretty useless.

  • @tommco how to do what? The tube just screws in and he shows you what you need to remove, if you cant twist a tube on a threaded base then you dont need to be using a firearm

  • if the point is that you do it yourself is cheaper than going to a gunsmith, its not the tools will cost a ton, a vise, 100-200 bucks, ar15 holder in the vise, 40-50 bucks, good ar wrench,, 20-30 bucks.

  • Larry Potterfield for President, Just that's the way it is.

  • what kind of punch do i need to remove the gasblock bottom pins? please reply

  • Okay Bob Vella, I'll just go get all those tools out of my bag.

  • @endurox50 If you're planning to build an AR then you should have the 2-3 non standard tools he used. The rest is basic mechanics tools that normal people have in their tool box.

  • Sleight of hand pro, I've never seen someone break down an AR so fast in my life.

  • @LocutusIsBorg he replaced the handgaurd. he didnt break the rifle down.

  • @LocutusIsBorg breaking down an ar is a quick and easy thing to do. Join the military, we had people who could break down the rifle and bolt and reassemble within 52 seconds.

  • is the same way they put in a free float hand gaurd that is a quad rail?

  • i see the A2 sight can be taken off an AR 15 but can it be taken off a Colt M4 Carbine or M4A1 ( if there is any difference between them, except the fully auto part on the m4a1)? i'm interested in the ones the army uses. i know there are some civilian models that have the detachable A2, but i don't know what about the military ones

  • wow they went into great detail on this one

  • LMFAO

    LARRY POTTERFIELD

    LARRY POTTER

    HARRY POTTER

  • @CantNotRemember .

True, Larry PotterField sound like Harry Potter.

Maybe cuz Larry can make magic in his videos :D

  • when you install a free float hand guard will there be any woble in it or even slightly loose??

  • @BlacktalonKevlar Not at all, that is if you buy a good one.

  • how much torq. goes on the FFT ?

  • @mjmoto72 35 lbs on the barrel nut and enough to stay tight on the tube itself.

  • You made that look easy.

  • Great. Now how do I upgrade past a varmint cartridge?

Lol, just teasing ya all :P

  • wow maybe if you took more than a minute and thirty seconds people might actually be able to learn something from this

  • @johnfarnel Lmao YOU READ MY MIND!!!!!

  • Stupid Question: Will a hand guard from a 556/.223 rifle fit a 7.62x39 rifle?

  • @Trent25346 typically no, most companies produce a 308 version of their handguards

  • are these rifles legal if you only use it for the shooting range?

  • @Xythe43 depending on the state/country you live in yes but some places have restrictions (california for example requires a lock on the mag release so that a key or tool is required to remove it, while in britan they are illegal alltogether ) your best bet is to check your local laws.

  • @Xythe43 REALLY? If its illegal for you to own, its illegal at the range.

  • "And that's the way it is... BITCHES."

  • What brand is that free float?

    Does anyone know offhand??

  • any tips on getting a stubborn barrel nut off? Heating it up? getting it cold? I heard to cut through most of the metal so it will snap off?

  • @911mykidsdead I had same problem with my barrel nut, get someone to hold the barrel wrench onto the gun, and then give the wrench a solid wack with a hammer to loosen the nut, make sure your are turning it the right way though

  • @dave6393 thanks for the reply. a blow tourch did the trick...

  • can these be installed on the colt .22? I bought the RIS made for mine but im having a hard time figuring out how to remove the front sight and the delta ring.

  • Any tips on hammering out those freaking front sight pins? I have soaked them in liquid wrench, beat the snot out of them with various hammers and punches, and they barely budge on my Bushmaster XM15-E2S...Geez!

  • @MrBlister1972 Are you sure you're driving them in the right direction? That's what screwed me up for the longest time. Be sure the muzzle is facing left while the top of the front sight block is facing away from you.

  • Comment removed

  • 35 inch pounds or ft pounds?

  • @Timb0NZ i would assume ft. lbs, but i am not an armorer. inch pounds is a very, very, light amount of tension.. imagine pushing on a scale with 35 inch pounds of pressure, its like touching it lightly.

  • @Timb0NZ Foot. I take mine to 60#. I believe spec calls for between 25-75#. They don't have to be really tight. Plus, the threads for both the nut and the receiver are only aluminum, so you want to be careful you don't go so hard as to mung them up.

  • Thanks larry

  • So say I wanted to replace the standard M4/M16 fron sight. What is the name of that specific component and where do I get a version of that piece that does not serve as the front sight? Also can I buy an interchangable short-stroke gas piston system to replace the direct impingement tube that comes standard?

  • nice

  • you sure like ar15

  • I tightened mine on with a pipe wrench because I didn't have the barrel wrench. I like using the wrong tool for the job.

  • ahh alining the gas tube and the HOLES on the receiver can be a PITA and the ring has to aline or the gas tube will NOT go to the carrier,or will drag if not set up straight.

ALSO driving taper pins out of the front sight base, is NEVER that easy, they are driven in very very tightly.

  • @80spodcastchannel You got that right on the taper pins. Some Kroil and a 22 oz. Estwing works wonders though.

  • @fugstik thanks for the good advice, always appreciated..

ahhh the estwing ball peen smasher deluxe..Love em.

    Seeya

    Dude

  • Time :42 question, that's just an anti-seize

  • larry rocks.

  • Time :42 What type-brand of sealant or oil was put on the thread of the barrel nut?

  • Time :42 What type-brand of sealant or oil was put on the thread of the barrel nut?

  • It's quick, but covers the procedure. good vid.

  • I thought it was a great vid-if you cant take those instructions and make it happen-you should save it for

    the smiths...

  • both word s can word tard, look it up...

  • If you mean that the video needs to be more like an ocean, then, yes, they both work.

  • " pacific" pertaining to a peace; suited to make or restore peace; of a peaceful character; not warlike; not quarrelsome; conciliatory; as, pacific words or acts; a pacific nature or condition. Pacific is not just a ocean you silly goose!

  • You are better off kicking yourself in the nuts if you think I'm gonna accept that crap as an explanation for you not being a moron.

  • Can we at least agree that you are a silly goose?

  • What dont you understand?

  • @911mykidsdead It's definetely not Pacific enough.

  • Nevermind it is a A3 flat top.Thanks

  • What the F&%$#!!!!!! This video does not show the details to do the job right. Ignore this video and go somewhere else.

  • lol he stuck the front iron sight on backwards

  • No he didn't. The front is vertical and it slopes toward the rear.

  • No he didn't..

  • I think you misunderstood me, It's not my stock thats the problem. It's the front sight that is canted to one side bad. What I need is help knowing what to do about fixing it so that it's level with the upper reciver. That way the rear sights line up in the middle instead of to one side. Thanks

  • Get a flat top upper with a real barrel and put a scope on it. Problem solved.

  • @NoSweatOffMySack I do have A3 flat top upper. The front sight is whats canted. There could be a few reasons why I know.Just looking for the best fix.

  • Oh, then why are you worried about crappy open sights? Put a scope on it... or at the very least a holograph sight or red dot. I have a DPMS Bull 24 in both .223 and .308. I use them for long yard shots. I do have a .22LR AR and I put a holographic sight on it, and it works VERY well. Just a suggestion. Why is the sight crooked anyway? What brand of gun is it? Did you drop it?

  • My rifle is a CMMG M 4/A 3 w-carry handle it came with the F-sight canted. It will still works with the detach hand sight but going to the far left side to sight in. Bought the upper a few years back and should have sent it back.. I just may put on a new bolt on gas block and be done with it. Never tried to loosen the barrel and twist it back a bit. That may work. Do plan to put a 1-4 power scope of some sort on .I like to shoot it open sighted. But it's much slower because of the cant.

  • So its not a flat top... it has a carry handle... I would go trade it in for one thats straight. You might take a loss, but a croocked gun is about as usefull as a hammer.

  • @ylism TAKE THE FRONT SIGHT/ GAS BLOCK OFF AND PUT A LOW PROFILE GAS BLOCK WITH NO FRONT SIGHT ON IT THEN BUY A QUAD RAIL AND A REMOVABLE COLLAPSABLE FRONT SIGHT, OR A SCOPE, PROBLEM SOLVED

  • Whats the best way to fix a canted front sight ?--To sight it in I must turn the dial where the rear sight is almost all the way to the left side. This makes it much harder to shoot because there is little to no more adjustment that way.

    Thanks for an help.

  • Before you do major surgery to your rifle make sure that the length of pull on your buttstock is not excessive. I am 5'8" and the a2 butt is a little long for me and iron sights. if your length is correct the cheapest way to shoot straight is to go to a scope.

  • can you add on a bipod, and remove the front sight?

  • Yep. You need a gas block that has the swivel stud so you can attach the bipod.

  • compensator ? i think he means flash suppressor

  • basically the same thing, i think he knows what he was talking about.

  • he does know but they are not the same thing. not even close

  • pretty much the same thing, comps are designed to lower recoil. and flash suppressor does what it says lowers the flash at the muzzle

  • the flash suppressor on AR's compensate the gas so less recoil, etc.

  • So a standard armorer's wrench can be used on float tube nuts?

  • whats so important about a free float tube?

  • on non-floated hand guards the pressure when you grip the rifle can cause the Point Of Impact (POI) to shift, resulting in a loss of accuracy.

On free-floated hand guards the guards don't touch the barrel directly, making it impossible to change the POI by griping the rifle. This makes the rifle more accurate overall.

So, basically a free-float tube will increase your accuracy.

  • @rluikwan the other huge thing is it moves the sling swivel from the front sight base (which is attached to the barrel) to hand guard. Thus removing pressure points of the barrel from sling use.

  • @rluikwan yes and no i have seen the POI change even with a free float barrel

  • ah, what is the tube for anyway couldn´t they just make the barrel and thats it? why surround it?

  • @LeonPao Well if you had nothing surrounding the barrel there wouldn't be any way to hold on to the front of the rifle. The barrel becomes extremely hot after several rounds are fired, so holding it would be a very bad idea. Plus you would run into the whole POI shift that the float tube was designed to prevent.

  • @rluikwan oh thanks!

  • @rluikwan @LeonPao One more question (sorry for asking. you seem to know so much). What is the muzzle break for? does it really affect the performance?thanks

  • @LeonPao A muzzle break is used as either a compensator or a flash hider/suppressor (or sometimes both). As a compensator, the gas from the bullet is redirected in a specific direction to help with recoil and muzzle rise. As a flash hider, the muzzle flash caused by the hot gases/explosion from the bullet is dispersed so that it is less visible.

  • @rluikwan Awesome, thanks

  • ah, what is the tube for anyway couldn´t they just make the barrel and thats it? why surround it?

  • If you have a heavy thick barrel you really don't need a free float tube. Unless you do a ton of shooting where you are pulling on a sling like in a match. It prevents the pressure from messing up the zero.

  • In theory it allows room for barrel expansion when the barrel heats up making sure that the muzzle of your rifle stays in the same position the whole time giving you consistency in accuracy. If there is no room for the barrel to expand the barrel will move out of possition pushing off any friction/contact point it can find.

    Hope thats of some help.

  • very nice ar15 Larry

  • Nice.

Forgot the part about lining up the gas tube with the notches or holes in the barrel nut and hole in the center of the upper receiver, though. That's a rather important part.

  • I was wondering just how they lined up the gas tube without looking myself, there

  • Interesting..
