I also don't understand why 'caring' is so difficult of a word to use.
There's more to these creatures than you think.
Obviously she did 'care' about her cubs, she was aware that her cub was dead, what she was doing is how lions typically mourn lost loved ones, licking/grooming them.
Poor Tamu. She is such an amazing mother to her cubs. It's so sad she has to be an outcast. She had gone through so much in such short periods of time. Does anyone know how they are now? I'm waiting for the reruns on AP and my daughter wants to know how the cubs are. I can't find any other videos.
If you go to simon king wildlife . com and to the forums and search for tamu you will find information there. She lost one of the cubs after filming but raised two to adulthood. She joined the main pride for a while in 07 but left when the new males took over. Apparently she is doing well the last i heard.
Hello ! are you sure Tamu joined the main pride ? Because Simon said in an episode of Big Cat Live that Tamu was helped to aised the remaining cubs, alone, butwith a little of protection of Notch when he left the pride to the new males. And he said that no one saw Tamu since long time. Nobody knows where she is.
I feel sooo sad for tamu. I've watched this show since it started filming, and none of the animals have gone through wat she has in such a short time. Does anyone know where i can get the music on the show from?
Que tristeza ver a Tamu, descubriendo el cuerpecito sin vida de su cachorrito. La verdad, El presentador, Simon, esta bajo el choc. Y se comprende, el lo eta viviendo in situ.. No puedo parar de llorar.. !!
I've been watching this on animal planet. I really felt for Tamu in this episode. She's a great mother and has done an amazing job taking care of her cubs
Why would you hesitate to use the words "caring and affection" she has cared for them, hunted for them since day one and would both kill and be killed for the sake of her cubs you idiot!
I guess you have to wonder if it's simply instinct to defend their cubs to the death and take care of them, or something more. But are we anthropomorphizing the animals, giving them human emotions by saying they are caring and affectionate to their babies? I would love to know, but who knows if we ever will.
Why on earth is it so hard to believe that a lion, or any animal, feels actual emotions or love. I have seen lions react to humans who have raised them by displaying wild joy, love, & affection when they are reunited with the human. Is that also instinct?? No it is genuine love plain & simple Is it really such a leap to assume they can't feel love 4 their own cub! It is the ultimate in human arrogance to say only we are capable of emotions! Especially when you see them display these emotions
Too moving for words. There are just no words to do Tamu justice.

This episode is one of the most touching ones.
I feel sad when I think about what Tamu had to undergo since the beginning.
But happy to hear that she successfully raised two of her male cubs to adulthood. What brave mother she's been! Kudos to her!

A Lion's life can be tough and cruel, but that's natures way.
I find it kinda hard to watch some of these videos.
I've watched Big Cat Diaries for years, and you get kinda attached to the different cats involved.
