  • ROTFL

  • why do people do this shit?

  • this sucked! your videos are usually so much better

  • Hey Frank! Don't pull the red han..... EEYAAAAAH!!!

Okay, that's the last time you get to sit in front.

  • Ha ha! you need a sign in your plane...

"incase of boredom, pull red lever"

  • @jwboll why would he be bored in an airplane? best stuff ever

  • Experienced pilots are not stunt pilots, they never find themselves performing maneuvers they can't get out of. The CAPS is useful if the pilot has a medical emergency, like a heart attack.

When the wife notices her husband is dead, she calmly deploys the parachute and goes back to reading her novel.

The Cirrus SR22 is an amazing plane, fully equipped with sales tax your looking at close to $750,000 for a beautiful machine that will blow away Barons and Seneca V's

  • yeah except for the fact that the chute doesn't always work like its supposed to, and you WILL compress your spine when you hit the ground, or worse be paralized. It decents at a rate of 1200 ft per minute, theres no avoiding the injury when you hit the ground. This chute was put in to make up for structural flaws in the airframe so cirrus wouldn't have to design a new plane. Its a death trap, and the chute does NOT make it safe like the general public thinks. a 172 is 100 times safer.

  • Not quite! There is more to it than just a parachute, the plane is also made with a roll cage and seats that can withstand 8Gs, so yes you will most likely walk away. A chute is not guaranteed to help you survive, but it is much better than NOT having one at all! I have seen 172s crash, they are truly not safer!!

  • Right, and wrong.

A descent rate of 1200fpm is not insane. Personal round parachutes come down around 1000 fpm, and they don't have a structure to absorb the impact around them.

Cirrus wouldn't have to design a whole new plane to get rid of flaws. But I don't think they are as easy to fly as their marketing claims. Most likely they are marketing to the wrong crowd and the chute is just an added safety device to market. There has not been a chute problem when opened within the envelope.

  • Just in case those wings happen to get ripped off as the pilot and all passengers plumit to earth awaiting certain death.

  • why does the Cirrus need a chute?

  • It doesn't. It's just an added safety feature.

  • Cirrus is a nice looking plane and has a lot of nice features, however they're the only certified aircraft that I know of that installs a BRS Why? I call them, the throw away airplanes. The composite idea is good but, I have seen several composite plane that have a lot of cracking going on. These planes won't last for 2 reasons 1 because they're made of composite 2 if you get them into a maneuver and can't get it out you pull the brs handle and your plane is now destroyed. Throw away planes!

  • Yeah... Where is your engineering degree buddy?

  • BU, Nice try buddy!

  • I <3 my cirrus sr22 gts.

  • 1. If you got yourself into a maneuver that you couldn't get out of in a non-BRS plane you'd be dead. I'd rather be alive with a busted airplane, than dead.

    2. Pulling the chute does not automatically total the aircraft. Cirrus has been able to recover and repair several that had the chute pulled. In fact the first aircraft the had the chute pulled is now a demo plane for Cirrus

    3. All of the cracks I have seen are superficial and to the paint only.

  • @ufllc I call your comment a throw away comment based on ignorance and untrained observation.

  • Ive read that the SR22 is just equiped with that chute because it gets almost 100% instable when flipping over..

  • 64 year old just deployed an SR22 parachute on March 15 and survived without a scratch (aircraft detroyed). According to Cirrus they have had 18 accidents with the chute deployed and only 2 have ended in fatalities. The parachute won't work in every situation, but I'm sure it has saved a few lives to date.

  • Its all a crap shoot isnt it? If youre in the right area with the right terrain and wind conditions then the parachute might be a life saver....can never be %100 percent sure....

  • lol....nice

  • I just lost a friend of mine in an SR 20 plane crash. The cause is still unknown. I used to think they were safe, but now I don't know. I had to come on here and see what they were like from another viewpoint.

  • I'm very very sorry for your loss. We also lost 4 in an SR22 crash in 2008. It was the hardest thing to go through, ever. SO traumatic. I don't think these things are safe at all. Pilot had 30 + years experience.

  • We own a SR22, and it has been a great plane. No issues whatsoever. I am sorry to hear about that accident, but the cirrus is known for being a safe aircraft, and has great flight characteristics. What was the cause of the crash?

  • And how are they unsafe? Avoiding/getting out of a spin is something every pilot should learn.

  • Believe me, my dad that died in that plane crash knew what he was doing. He flew before he drove cars. The Sirrus has a reputation for being unstable when they are fully loaded up. And he wasn't in a spin. The plan stalled when they were going in to land. As a result, the top of the plane came to rest on the ground, even though the emergency parachute had been pulled. We got the FAA official report, and pilot error was ruled out. . . unsafe planes. Wish we had never bought one

  • Condolences for your father. Where was this crash?

But parachutes do have their operating margins. A parachute deployed on landing is NOT going to work. There is just not enough time.

Wings do not just stall on their own. It takes excessive AoA to stall, and the pilot controls that

What did the FAA point out as the problem? Do you have the link to this report? Interesting.

  • @pulsejet1 a airfoil can stall at any altitude, any speed, any AoA and any pressure, so technically your statement about needing excessive AoA is wrong.

  • @Flightkid9 'Technically' yes, you are right about the stall. However time and again aircraft are stalled within the same circumstances of low speed & high AoA. I would still be interested in seeing the FAA report as to why the aircraft stalled. My point is that aircraft do not just stall for no reason.

  • @pulsejet1 Yes I know what you mean, I was just stating one of the first things my instructor told me and continually tells me lol it's true of course, I was just saying how it isn't necessarily true that it required excessive AoA input by the pilot.

  • I have never had so many problems with an airplane in my entire life. If you own a cirrus....sell it

  • why do you say that?

  • and buy an RV!! thats what we just did

  • Rich, how did you like the Cirrus?

  • Its my bad not me bad

  • How did you get the headset audio on the video. Please message me back or reply to this. Thanks!

  • look at the video page on my web site.

  • Thank you very much! I just happen to have a Sony DV :(

  • @fholbert

    What's your site?

  • ...

  • Pop the chute... Let's see it in action.

  • is a very good machine!!!

  • you put alot of videos on

  • heh

  • This was a waste of time. Very stupid!

  • If that's the worst video you've seen you must be new to YouTube. But really look at some of my other videos because it the worst one I've ever put up. Sure got a lot of hits after the NYC accident.

  • It is actually a secondary duece eliminator.

  • Hi fholbert,

What aircraft is that and who is the maker?

  • Cirrus SR22

  • I saw this airplane parking here in Jandakot Airport West Australia(Perth) , really like to fly it.. but I just started my CPL....

  • Did you find out?

  • Did I find out what?

  • did you find out if it was the parachute handle.

  • That is clearly the handle....

  • obviously. Im just clarifying the fact that you didnt understand the other gentlemans comment and was clearing it out.

  • thanks marick. I was hoping maybe he'd watch his video again
