  • Check out my hip hop remix of this song, it's worth a listen! -AJG

  • Song originally recorded by The Impressions in 1965. it's a Soul, R&B, and Gospel Music group. The original version also is beautiful.

  • Beautiful...love Beck, Stewart, and the 'background to this video'--it goes beautifully with this powerful song...

  • @EmmaRose473 Jeff Beck is one of the best guitarist of all world and Rod's voice.. i don't have word to describe her.. I love them too, hahahahaha, and Truth is the best album from 68'.. This song, a 85' cover of a 65' soul music is fantastic! Thank you for watch this video!

  • simply great

  • Jeff played this last night in Denver. truly amazing!

  • Let's not forget the Catholics. It seems the last prejudice in the world is against the Church Our Lord, Jesus Christ, found 2000 years ago...If you think I'll tolerate it-you're wrong...Dan O'Niallain

  • @oldiesbutgoodies67 "the Lord Jesus Christ" DID NOT 'FOUND' ANYTHING! HE QUESTIONED HIS OWN RELIGION (JUDAISM) AND HE WOULD QUESTION CHRISTIANITY , YES, EVEN THE CATHOLICS, SINCE CHRISTIANITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH JESUS, THE MAN WHO WALKED THIS EARTH!!

  • I am allmost convinced that God exist.

  • they do. they always have...trust in your-self...how many times did it just click??

  • I love this song, just awesome

  • gotta love it

  • Cock swandler

  • The part where Stewart and Beck meet at the station is one of the all time great campy moments in music video history and sometimes I rewatch the video just for that scene.

  • ONE M0:00RE TIME!! :D

  • VERY FEW YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE MUCH OF A SOUL , IF ANY, SO DON'T EXPECT MUSIC LIKE THIS TO BE COMING OUT TO SOON!!! but theres always HOPE!!!! mikedcannon v.n. vet 69-71

  • 8 people are not getting on that train

  • I love the generosity that Rod Stewrt and Jeff Beck shared for this Gospel Classic. I wish that all Rock and Rollers whose solo careers have gone more successfully to give great musicians like Jeff Beck work. So, they can help put their Grandchildren through College etc...Dan O'Niallain

  • thats because he's out of the lime light. true humility

  • thats because he's outue of the lime light....true humility

  • one of the pure genius guitarists and one of the most underrated guitarists in rock. love this song always have.

  • it is pure genius for both artists to cover this song and make it into their own. God bless the child who has his own. Jeff and Rod shined like GOLD in this duet. True GODS!! WHERE DID THE MUSIC GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • essa musica é demais.....!!!!!!

  • In light of today's events, I picked this as the retro song of the day

  • This is probably one of the only Rod Stewart songs I like, because Jeff plays an awesome guitar!

  • I worked security for this video shoot. The buliding was located in the city of Port Hueneme, Ca.It was the Longshoemans hall located at the entrance of the port. the train was provided by the Ventura railroad. The other video shots were in Ventura county. I was a Police officer for the city of Port Hueneme, Ca. The year was 1985 I think.

  • isnt that the same church from novemberrain video

  • @heavymetalesayuda totally looks like it!

  • great song

  • THis is my 2nd favorite Jeff Beck song ever. He can say in ONE bent whole-note what it takes other guitarists a whole measure full of 16th-notes to say. (My 1ST favorite is "Definitely Maybe")

  • IS JEFF PLAYING on this stevie nicks rod stewart tour???

  • That note Beck hits @ 4:01 is as good as it gets imho!! So amazingly talented and most importantly TASTEFUL!!!!!

  • Sooooo goooood!!

  • sweet song about death, i remember my dears with love and i send them a kiss

  • awesome.

    great duet.

  • One of the all time great guitar solos!!!!!!!!!!! No pyrotechnical displays, shredding or excessive tapping just sheer emotional expression and total originality. If more young guitarists were inspired by people like Beck we might have some better quality music. Thanks for posting and greatest respect to Jeff Beck's phenomenal talent!!!

  • LOVE <3

  • Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck knew even in the 80's that the "100 Year Persecution of the Catholic Church, and then all of Christendom, by lucifer that Pope Saint Leo XIII saw in his Vision of 1884 began in 1914 with World War I and 1917 with the Bolshevik/Communist Revolution and that the 100 Years will end this decade between 2014 and 2017 with what the Blessed Virgin Mary calls the "Divine Chastisement" followed by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Triumphant...Dan O'Niallain

  • @spearofdestiny1965 LOL WUT

  • A cover after 20 years but excellent, much more charismatic in comparison with The Impressions 1965 original.

  • Beautiful!

  • WILL the REAL Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart PLEASE stand up? They did exactly that in this awesome tribute to Curtis Mayfield. This is my favorite video of all time, covered by my favorite singer for almost 40 years and counting, and my favorite guitar player, too. Both together and apart, these two guys were enormously important in the evolution of rock and roll music, and deserve all the respect and thanks possible for dedicating their lives to something that gives so much pleasure to so many<3

  • Love the railroad scenes...like trains, this song is powerful and timeless. Alot of people don't know that Rod Stewart is a very active model railroader too!

  • i love you jesus.

  • MUZYCZNA PERŁA WŚRÓD PIOSENEK

    NIE MA JUZ TAKICH

  • muzyczna perła wśród piosenek

    nie ma juz takich piosenek

  • One of my favorite songs but can someone tell me exactly what this is about?

  • @saumyab44 it is about salvation. you dont need a ticket or luggage you just get on board. it is a song about religion and faith and your love of Christ

  • ABSOLUTELY GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LIke the Cast of "Jesus of Nazareth" in 1976, Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck did something to "Save Souls", including their own, with this Pop/Rock Gospel Classic..."Have Pity on Those whose Chances are Thinner..." The Legendary, Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • A song written in 1965, Curtis Mayfield & the Impressions. WOW!!! What timeless masterpiece.Rod's vocals bring this song to life.Jeff's guitar playing adds soul and body. Just a super video.

  • Damn good track. Best guitarist. Best vocalist. The best.

  • great combination, great singing, great guitar playing, and just a great song

  • @kevmilla agreed its songs like this that make artist legendary.

  • i wish i could be doing what jeff was at 0:24 right now... just riding on a train and playing a telecaster

  • 4 people don"t like music. booooooo.......

  • divina cancion!!

  • fico muioto bom o oficina g3 nessa musik mais nada melhor q um bom som antigooo very crazyy

  • Love the guitar work... so pretty.

  • Comment removed

  • Jeff Beck, the best guitar of the world....

  • @TPoPArt I agree. However, this particular song (as recorded) CANNOT be played on a Telecaster.

    jus' sayin'

  • @mrmres Yeah i know. You can hear the tremolo of the strat after "just thank the lord"

  • Jeff,

Why not come to L A and take up the guitar professionality,

    ...signed - Rod

  • this song is too cliched ...awesome..but cliched...not like jeff beck at all :|

  • When Jeff Beck played in that field the farmers crops that year went up 100% in profit just by his insane music :) truly magical.....

  • @ccarpenter781 - I Beck you're right.

  • It's a classic gospel hymn, much or less ready even before Mr Mayfield's wonderful creation. John Mayer did a good commercial job, I wouldn't call it stealing a song.

George Harrison stole My Sweet Lord and blablabla...

  • john mayer waiting on the world to change stole most of it the rythm everything if u listen good the solo's are what john mayer sings john mayer stole it what a nerd

  • John Mayer's Waiting On The World To Change was inspired by this song. We can definetly hear it.

  • they covered it because it's good song...people often don't catch the lyrics anyway

  • GREAT BLUESEY ROCK GUITAR SOUND, JUST LIKE STEWARTS VOICE

  • You gotta love that haunting echo of Jeff Beck's guitar! Man this is awesome to see these two old friends together again in this video. Thank god for Rock n Roll!!

  • excelente , eu gosto muito dessa cançao, gosto do som da guitarra e tambem da voz do rod stwart, muito bom, admiravel..

  • PIECES OF TALOR SWIFT ,CYRUS,AND RIAHANN?WHATEVER THAT SLUT GOES BY////IN THEIR STOOL!!

  • At least Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck realized that their life's work has to start guiding people to Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Commandments or they will be damned if their songs and music does not...Dan O'Nealon

  • @swordofconstantine1 (sigh).... Ladies and gentlemen, here comes the usual religious threat.... and what if they had wanted to "guiding people" (what a strange idea here by the way !) to Shiva, Krishna, The Flying Spaghetti Monster or the Invisible Red Dragon living in my cellar ? Shoud they have been damned ? What a horrible view on people it is ! Nice song, though. Not fantastic lke the original Jeff Beck Group but still nice to have those two great guys doing stuff together.

  • @swordofconstantine1 Holy crap im tired of religous freaks. There is an amazing drummer that lives by me and he cant play the music he wants because he parents wont let him. Just chill out and enjoy the music.

  • very nice video!

  • i try playing this solo only to sit back and admire his great tone

  • Someone needs to explain to me why so many guitar players think that you have to play very fast to play well? It's still about what you play no how fast you play it.

  • @bigbadfitter lots of guitarists now think speed, technique, and being BRUTAL are more important than feel... we need more people like jeff

  • listen and learn, a all time great song

  • Just now watching an interview with Stewart on CNN's "Headline News" that caused me to think of this video; it is quite nostalgic to find it here, taking me back to my grad school days. It has been a great many years since last seeing this, and it still delivers. Stewart has had - and continues to have - a truly remarkable musical career.

  • What happened to VH1? Back in the 80's and early 90's all they ever did was play music and the music was awesome. Now whenever I check my tvguide all they have are stupid reality shows on VH1. It just makes me sick.

  • @fixedgearforlife this song is so good it is a religious experience.

  • That is beautiful gospel.

  • I adore this guitar. Jeff is on of the greatest.

  • jeff beck and steve vai the only 2 guys that made me leave a concert and ask what planet is that guy from ?

  • Simply amazing! I saw once in LA. Just listen to that guitar.

  • Beck is just so amazing on this...unbelievable.

  • great tone

  • Superbo!

  • Dont need no ticket, you just thank the Lord. Praise Jesus !!!

  • @1antennaman Amen brother, Ain't no room for the hopeless sinner,,,,,

  • Thank the LORD above for talent that Jeff and Rod have...a grand duo..classic and timeless good memories from back in the day

  • Classics never dies.

  • Guitar God and guitar tone of the Gods! :)

  • overproduced but still nice. I prefer the live versions

  • What a pair! Even better than Jagger & Richards but just behind Plant & Page.

  • Man, what a song !!! Thank for sharing...

  • Beck's got a sweet tone!

  • Great Song, Great Lead, Most importanly - GREAT MESSAGE - the time is now and you need "the Lord"

  • Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck did the equivalent of the Cast of "Jesus of Nazareth" to insure their Salvation upon their deaths. These "Old Timers" should teach the people in Rock and Roll and Hollywood that their songs and films have to lead people to Our Lord and His Commandments. Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • @oniallain1965 .... dude! shut the fuck up!

  • @oniallain1965 , If you weren't so busy spamming your bible cliche's right here on YT....you'd hear that it's God talking, through Jeff 's heavenly guitar playing.

  • how cool..sitting on a moving train playing guitar

  • @bladewcw yeah! Can't do that today though. Soon as you start playing a riff, you're interrupted by "Doors closing. *beep* Next stop....."

  • @Kynatics true man

Just remember how it was back than and you will still be alive

  • GreensnHamhocks, I know what you mean. I remember when MTV used to play rock music, some of which was classically inspired (Yngwie, Yes, Kansas, Rainbow, Europe, etc.). Now they mostly play rap "music." I guess we all miss the good old days...

  • awesome cover!

  • beautiful video---beautiful music

  • This is the worst version of this song ever. This song is SOUL an African American genre, but this video is mainly white people and no black folks. Its lost its original feeling of authentic black music. weak :(

  • Thanks for this vid. I adore this song. Rod and Jeff are a perfect duet.

  • Thank you Rod and Jeff for this amazing cover. Thank you Curtis Mayfield for writing it. WOW. Still gives me chills.

  • If you see Rod Stewart wearting 1 of Jim Morrison's size 101/2 low cut boots in a concert, you know Rod is going to "Get Happy Feet on Stage like Steve Martin in "The Jerk..." Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • A lot of people don't realize the legend in this video that Rod Stewart is wearing 1 of Jim Morrison's 13 pairs of boots during his rock and roll career. Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • I love the rare and ever-valueable- reference to Catholic Rock and Roll-the next big thing because it's not protestant. . .It's new... This coming garage band from the " 'ole garage'" has a lead singer that will be what Jim Morrison could have been and Jeff Beck and even Rod Stewart-not bad...Dan O'Niallain, Grafton, Ma.

  • This song still sounds as good now as it did then. Great Song...

  • ohh, my childhood came back, I will always love that song

  • OK, This is the story that I heard: I heard that Jeff Beck played for "scale" during the early years with Rod Stewart and then in turn offered Rod "scale" to sing lead for this song.

  • thats a great song, miss all those years whit friends and good times, o lord times goes by so fast....love you all

  • this version touch every cell of my body .is amazing

  • Where was I when this song came out. I never knew there was a video!! Wow.

  • AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Why not come to L.A. and take up the guitar professionally?- Rod"

     : )

  • Almost time.

  • Even 25 years later, I am flabbergasted this song didn't make the top 40. What a song.

  • graet song !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beck's tone is phenomenal!

    One of his best pieces!

  • Great song. Bring back some good memories.

  • Jeff Beck is a guitar legend!!!! Great song with Rod Stewart!! What an awesome combination!!

  • I've tried one of stewarts squeals in a girls ear while i was dancing with her before (4:15-4:17).

It didn't work out so well...

  • awsome 80´s classic!!!

  • 3:25-3:50 lmao. fantastic duo though, and amazing song

  • Comment removed

  • They did Curtis Mayfield's song proud

  • @kevinocooldaddy they sure did, especially jeff b

  • @Sofus99 80's rock heads, lol. Who are you to say it was lost on "Rock Heads."? Blanket statements anyone?? Most songwriters let people interpret the meaning of a song for themselves. I know what Curtis was singing about, but I am sure he was cool about it if it inspired someone else for an entirely different reason. Songwritiers are cool like that. So yeah Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart did Curtis proud with this version of his song and how the interpreted it.

  • @kevinocooldaddy Completely agree with you.

  • @kevinocooldaddy I disagree ...this song had a message to black people in the 60s, not 80s rockheads who probably had no concern for the black struggle

  • @Lashid4u the message isnt just for black people, its universal. LIFE is a struggle and im sure Curtis would agree! "you dont need no ticket you just get on board"!!

  • Dont go all aboard the coming fema trains!

    People get ready!
