Grace would have been appreciated much more had she not been a survivor but a victim of the 60-70's a la Joplin etc. She has NEVER received the credit she deserves. All Hail>
Thanks so much for posting this video...it is wonderful. I never met Grace but I love her all the same and this performance brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Grace.
Beautiful lyrics and great music. Long live our planet's biodiversity! A great golden oldie! Music like this can change the world and save the species, including our own if we wake up in time!
Thank you for posting this video. The song is absolutely awesome. I love Panda bears and I love Grace Slick... Her voice is great and her heart I simply love...
It's time we wake up to what we are doing to our world and its treasures...
Yes, If I remember right there were about 15 episodes or so. It was a one hour talk/music show. He would interview musicians etc. It was called "The Ring", the idea was the guest was in the ring being interviewed. It was a good show.
she was hot and attractive right up until she quit. She still looks good at 69 and is remains a real character and survivor. Her voice is one the great white female rock voices, period.I love her and used to dream about her when I was a young stoner!
I was at one of Grace's last performances at Radio City Music Hall in late 80's. She was beyond terrific. She has stated over and over that it was her decision to pack it up. In interviews she states she has no problem with "older" people singing rocknroll but she doesn't like them to watch them do it! No matter she has come in to her own once again as a visual artist.
@NewYankee01 today...she still looks amazing in her own way and she is very very intelligent! We all grow old, sounds to me you better leave this world, before you do. You prolly couldn't handle it!!!
!989 was the last year Grace performed. You look and listen to this you start to wonder why? She is just terrific. The blessing is that she has gone on to her own level as a visual artist.. with some sucess I understand. The way she approaches this song is so sincere it makes me cry.
She turned 50 and walked away. And it's ok... we all move on at some point. She left while she was still great. She and my first wife ended up about the same. All the best to them both.
Yes, she did some cool jazzy type stylings (sometimes in a r'nr context tho'). The CROWN ballads "Triad" and "lather" are elegant--and if the lyrics weren't so outre, they could be supperclub staples. "Bear Melt" is a very jazz influenced vocal as well.
She was less adept as a trad folkie, say, but on tracks where she did Signe's old parts, she certainly gave Ms TolyAnderson a run for her money.
grace slick is truly one of the last great singers of our time , it saddens me that grace never fully got the reconition she truly, desrves, to me is the greatest artists of our time, we love you grace.
This is great, thanks so much. I haven't seen much footage of Grace from the late 1980s. By the way, does anyone have the Grace Slick clips that were posted by joez116? They were mostly interviews with her from around the 1980s that were done by Sue Simmons, Dave Letterman and a few others. If anyone has these clips, please contact me. I have an extensive music collection and would love to trade for that footage. Thanks!
Actually, she had left Starship a few yrs before and had put out the Airplane reunion album with the majority of the Surrealistic lineup intact. "Panda" was from THAT album.
good to see grace playing the piano - i always loved her keyboard work and was always miffed that she didn't do more. her piano on the Blows Against album all the way thru to Dragon Fly was wonderful. there's a sincerity in her playing the that "better musicians" couldn't touch.
Do you have the rest of this show?

Yes, Grace gets associated with rock music mostly, which is understandable, but she really has a great voice for a wide range of material.

Yep, she is very good on this show I think. It would have been nice to hear her do a true solo album, just her with piano and/or guitar. Great voice
