Un monument, une merveille,un tube intemporel,30 ans que j écoute ce titre avec autant de plaisir, le solo de saxo est historique , Brian au top,les plus belles années de Roxy music
The first time I heard this song was a few weeks ago, in a movie called Flashbacks of a Fool, with Daniel Craig. The song amazed me, I searched for a week before I discovered it was roxy, it's now one of my favorite songs.
@mikeymike602602 i downloaded their self titled album a few weeks back and this song immediately became one of my top favorite songs. so much passion!
You have to really feel it to understand Roxy. I've never had the same feeling about music after hearing this and other Roxy songs. Nothing this days impresses me as much as Bryan and the Roxies let's call them like that. Even though I was born after the Roxy era. Love u Bryan, Eno Manzanera & rest of the gang...you've been so inspirational in this stage of my life as you were in my teen years!!! Hope to see u reunited soon!
So many people post junk on YouTube...this my friends is NOT one of those people. Excellent work! Quite passable for Bryan Ferry. Hopefully he will get the chance to view this and commend you guys for your stupendous work!
Yep, another Flashbacks of a Fool enlightened user here. The song was interesting to me the first time I heard it, but had no serious appeal. Having heard it a couple more times, and having seen the movie again, I find myself somewhat enthralled with this song.
I've gotta agree with Maxdiecipezzi, but good job overall.
OMG! You guys are absolutely fabulous!! You do Roxy Music proud. I'm amazed at how you guys sound like the real band... the instruments and the Bryan vocals and gestures!!!
Damn you guys rock!! This performance is awesome. Is it available in the U.S?
I heard the song because the film flashback.... i saw the mimical movements from Felicity and i get inmediatly in love with the song.... i have some cds from roxy but i didnt hear before that song.... and now i cant stop to hear it
And that is a perfect description of mine and what i suspect is many other people's version of events. Flashbacks is an amazing film, If There Is Something is an amazing song.
I feel so stupid; I was showing this video around to my buddies saying THIS IS ROXY MUSIC and this is why I love 'em...did not know it was a tribute...I say, close enough!!! Great work!!
Saw them last night in Tavistock (Devon) and oh my; You've just gotta stand there and look and listen. Kevin is the incredible Bryan Ferry lookalike and soundalike of the century. And the band came out and rubbed shoulders with all of the audience during the break so no pretence and no elitism - just very natural and easy going people. I sang my socks off and if you love Roxy Music, you gotta go and see Roxy Magic. It'll blow your mind!!
Yeah, same here, I never heard of Ferry until then. The movie was excellent, so there is definately some association with this song and the movie. But this song is epicly awesome.
I certainly realise how good this tribute band is. I've got them up there as probably - no definately - the best tribute to any band ever ever. I love Roxy, have done since I was 15 so now being 51 I think I know what I'm talking about. This band is brilliant! More please Kevin, sheer delight listening to you and the band.
This is the greatest Roxy Music cover I've heard. On the original album the instruments are synthesized, so do you all use that same process live? Either way, fantastic job.
We try to duplicate the album sounds as closely as possible live. John (guitar) and I each use Boss GT6 guitar processor foot-pedals to treat our instruments. On the sax I use a combination of chorus for most songs and - on this track - phaser effects. For other sounds, our keys player Paul uses modern synth effects and a sequencer.
Where oboe is used by Mackay I use a Yamaha WX11 wind-synth which also helps with other sounds (mute trumpet for example on These Foolish Things). We don't, sadly, have a mellotron or VCS3 onstage but I use a small theremin to produce a fairly accurate end to Ladytron.
There will be more movies here soon, I hope, and you may get to see some of this stuff in action!
no problem. keep up the good work. i've been a roxy fan since the year dot and you are definately the best roxy tribute band that i've ever heard. excellent stuff. can you post any forthcoming tour dates. it would be good to see youy live i reckon.

Well, the song is a parody of country music (this is also true of Ladytron) and specifically honky-tonk I think. Roxy Magic obviously know this but they emphasize this too much, especially in the piano playing. The parody should take care of itself. Roxy Music always took on an ironic attitude toward their music, whereas Roxy Magic plays it too much in earnest. The solo sax is very well done, however.
That's a more useful review; we don't mind constructive criticism. However, although the parody/irony is in the music, context is important. It's live (a front-of-house mix) and subtleties of irony (a spectrograph might miss) may not come across. Or be important, when we're playing what has, to our surprise, become a real dance track for a Roxy-appreciative audience. They get swept along and so do we :)
This is an excellent performance. It takes real talent to play music this complex and intricate. Roxy Music is not for the feint at heart, and performing Roxy Music is certainly not for the amateur. My hat's off to Roxy Magic. I've never seen a tribute band with the talent and presence of the original before.
Roxy were my favourite since '72 and I've got to say I don't think I could tell this apart from the live Viva album version. Brilliant performance of one of the very best Roxy songs.
I did the exact same thing. Superb. Piano mixed a little loud, but that's not your fault (great playing though). Great song. I play in a Syd Barret tribute band, and constantly wade through disparaging comments by fanatics. What a bunch of blow-hards. You guys sound great and are obviously having a great time. Exactly what else is music supposed to be about?
great videos.

This guy's voice is an exact copy of Ferry's. Scary. Anyway, this is the very best Roxy song, from the best Roxy album.

It's creepy how... spot-on this is. In a good way, but still.

Great version. I think the singer has all the mannerisms and vibrato down. A little mellotron would have been nice.

Oh, that was wonderful...probably my favorite Roxy song (saw them do it live a few times), and this tribute version is splendid. Come to America!
