If your faith is so wonderful, if it makes you happy, then great! Why don't you talk about that instead? Why the need to attack someone else's faith? It seems to me, if that's the case, there must be some holes in your faith - and you must fill them by attacking other people. A true follower of Christ does not attack anyone. That was not what Christ taught. Joseph Smith never attacked anyone. Look at our articles of faith. We believe everyone has the right to believe whatever he or she wants.
God the Greatest? his son Jesus? The Holy Spirit that lives in us when we keep the Commandments and the word of wisdom? No friend the Mormon (The latter day saints) have no other Gods. Anti-Mormon Christians sure don't know the Bible very well.
Was Ezekiel a false prophet?
He made false prophesy's (Chap 26:3, 29:17, 29:10, 30:4)...
they never came true, therefore he must be a false prophet and because the Bible contains prophesy that did not come true, the Bible must therefore be false as well.
Tyre and Egypt were never destroyed, the Nile did not dry up, etc. etc. etc.
Ezekiel and the Bible fail the very test that you want to hold Joseph Smith to.
Anti-Mormon Christians do not know the Bible very well.
Was Ezekiel a false prophet too?
His prophesy's (Chap 26:3, 29:17, 29:10, 30:4) never came true...therefore he must be a false prophet and the Bible must be false because it contains false prophesy. It fails the very test you want to hold Joseph Smith to. Tyre was never destroyed, it exists today. The Babylonians did not destroy Egypt, the Nile did not dry up, Egypt was not desolate for 40 years, etc.

We worship one God, We call Him Father in Heaven and close our prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, Because Jesus Christ is the center of our religion. You did not mention any prophecies of Joseph that is not fulfilled. You do not understand fully the scriptures and our doctrines.
I know that the true nature of the Godhead has been revealed through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I have a testimony that the LDS Church is Christ's restored Church, and that JS was a Prophet, as well as the fact that Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's prophet on the earth today. They both pass the so called "tests" of a prophet.
A false literal interpretation of James 1:5 has been taught by Joseph Smith and some other churches that know little about the Bible. Now I do suppose though that people here are going to use Deut. 13 1-4, and 18:20-22 to tell me that Harold Camping is a false prophet too, am I right?
Continued; 'How then will any be a god, if he has not first been made a man? How can any be perfect when he has only lately been made man? How immortal, if he has not in his mortal nature obeyed his maker? For one's duty is first to observe the discipline of man and thereafter to share in the glory of God.' John 10;34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
St Irenaeus a disciple of Polycarp disciple of John the Revelator. Quote:'there is none other called God by the Scriptures except the Father of all, and the Son, and those who possess the adoption..Since, therefore, this is sure and stedfast, that no other God or Lord was announced by the Spirit, except Him who, as God, rules over all, together with His Word, and those who receive the Spirit of adoption..We were not made gods at our beginning, but first we were made men, then, in the end, gods.'
There was a question to Latter-day Saints regarding: '"the basics" (becoming a God)' that didn't seem answered, I'd like to answer because it's an important question, to do with our relationship with God and Christ. It was largely on this question that the Jewish sects rejected Christ, and why many Christian sects would reject Joseph Smith.
It's interesting to compare the LDS doctrine to the beliefs of the early Saints. With limited space, I'll just quote here from St Irenaeus AD115-202.
James 1:5 is not about getting "answers" through prayer. Read carefully. James says if any of you lacks "wisdom". Wisdom is "skill in LIVING" not "answers". Read Jeremiah 17:9, it says that mans heart is deceitful above all things. You can not trust your heart. That is a subjective and fallable test. It is in fact the absoloutely wrong way to test a prophet. God never gave that test of a prophet. Read Deut. 13:1-4 and 18:20-22. Those are God's tests. You should give it a try...
Ask for "what"? Wisdom is "skill in living"... and Mormonanswerman... your response holds no water. Notice you didn't answer the context. You need to pay attention to context. By the way, what happens after this part of the story is the most important. What I am talking about is the numerous first vision accounts. If even Joseph couldn't get it right....And..... if we are going to dialogue... you need to actually respond to the video.. ie.. the false prophecies of Joseph Smith...
yet again you cannot grasp what this video is teachng..
joseph smith was a false prophet - its been proven..now..he is the foundation of mormonism and everythng that has been built apon the mormon religion has now collapased
It has "collapsed?" then why are millions of us still going to Church? Thousands on Missions, thousands getting baptized? Huh... I don't think you know what collapsed means...
The logic of this video and subsequent comments condemns Christ as a false prophet, which he was not. In Matt 24:34 "This generation shall not pass, till ALL THESE THINGS be fulfilled." That generation he was speaking to--read the entire chapter in context, he is speaking to his disciples of the time--passed without MOST, let alone all, of the things Jesus speaks of being fulfilled. Don't be too hasty to point to one or two obscure verses and condemn Joseph Smith as a false prophet.
Freedombolt.... what in the world makes you think that those things didn't happen? I absolutely believe that they did. Is the temple still standing? Were there wars and rumors of wars before the fall of the temple (Josephus)? Were there famines and earthquakes (Josephus)? Were the early Christians persecuted? Were there many false prophets (any familiarity with the 1st century will bear this out)? Was the gospel preached throughout the whole known world (Romans 1:8)? Be careful freedom...
You've obviously made up your mind about a lot of things. So have the Muslims, so have the Budhists, so have the Hindus....so have the multiple denominations of Christianity that teach multiple doctrines of the nature of God and his gospel. So why the inconsistencies? Why so many gaps? Do you believe God will condemn the Hindu ect...? Where is the justice in it? Where is the mercy in it? Traditional Christianity has so many holes in it that it's no wonder Athiesm is growing so fast.
The bible condemns Joseph Smith as a false prophet. That is a Christians final authoritative word. Anything outside of that leads to false doctrine. Read Deut.13 1-4, and 18:20-22
If people, including arguementative Mormons and "Christians", would set aside their differences and start at the basics these sorts of venues would be very productive. The problem, however, is that everybody thinks they're right and will defend that position till they're blue in the face. Truth always seems to be so subjective;biased. Honest seekers of truth find it while those who stand in the sand worry that the ground underneath them will give way if shaken. (If ye have love...)true disciples
@wheepusdurbin Does the BIBLE not teach that we are all Gods wheepusdurbin? Look it up you might be impressed to find it does!......if you cant find it....look harder and then if you still cant find it you need to read the bible more! let me know what you find!
@otmjake Jake, you are bringing up a classic Mormon apologetic. Most Mormons that I know of that bring it up have never even read the passage Jesus was quoting from. Have you? I would hope that you have before bringing it up as a challenge. I'm not sure anyone would want "I said ye are gods" applied to them after reading what Jesus was quoting from and how he was applying it to the unrighteous judges before Him.The passage is about unrighteous judges. Exegesis is important. Check it out.
It could be productive in an earthy manner, but when one faces Christ at the judgment seat it won't matter if the things we did on the earth were productive or not, the question will remain what did we do with Gods son. Will we be standing before God saying Lord I did all these things in your name, and He say to us depart I never knew you. This is an eternal question. One of highest importance.
I love you, Freedom! I look forward to reading your posts! I didn't see your answer to the question on "the basics" (becoming a God) from wheepusdurbin? I find it tragic that you can watch a video on the false prophecies of Joseph Smith and respond by accusing Jesus of being a false prophet. If that's the case, seems like all the time & energy you spend on defending the LDS church is useless.
Becoming a god? If the Latter-day Saints believe the same as the Saints of the early church, how can that be an inconsistency?
These are some short quotes from Saint Irenaeus AD115-202: This man was a disciple of a disciple of John the revelator, and his teachings like other early 'church fathers' indicate what was believed in the early church;
'There is none other called God by the Scriptures except the Father of all, and the Son, and those who possess the adoption...'
(continued from Saint Irenaeus) '....Since, therefore, this is sure and stedfast, that no other God or Lord was announced by the Spirit, except Him who, as God, rules over all, together with His
Word, and those who receive the Spirit of adoption.'
'We were not made gods at our beginning, but first we were made men, then, in the end, gods.'
'How then will any be a god, if he has not first been made a man? How can any be perfect when he has only lately been made man? How immortal, if he has not in his mortal nature
obeyed his maker? For one's duty is first to observe the discipline of man and thereafter to share in the glory of God.' 'The discipline of man' would mean being a true disciple of Christ, to 'become the sons of God.' 'And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ.'?
Galatians 1:7??? Mormons ought to read it. Let the scales fall from your eyes and Love and Trust our Lord Jesus Christ! Please pray for our deceived Brothers and Sisters in the LDS Church. Don't hate, turn them back towards Jesus and God will forgive them.
The Jews stoned False Prophets, and they led Jesus to Pilate to have Christ killed because he was a false prophet. In America a man can speak ignorant of facts and publish his ignorance on the Internet as if it were true. Others, lacking the discernment and discipline of a finely trained mind or a heart purified through service and selfless meditation often follow in ignorance, hence the blind leading the blind.
The Jews did not lead Jesus to crucifixion because they had any biblical evidence of Him being a false prophet... there wasn't any. They hated Him because He condemned them for their unbiblical teachings and He uncovered their hypocrisy. Atrium... maybe you should respond to the scriptures in the video? I don't doubt your "finely" trained mind. If it is so... demonstrate how Joseph Smith can be a true prophet and yet fail God's test of a prophet. (Deut. 13:1-4, 18:20-22, 1 John 4:1)
Joseph Smith Dec 16, 1843 on his petition filed with Congress for protection of the Saints: "While discussing the petition with Congress, I prophesied by virtue of the Holy Priesthood vested in me... that if Congress will not hear our petition and grant us protection, they shall be broken up as a government and God shall damn them..." Needless to say.. it never happened.
So Jesus, in Matt 24:34 when speaking to his disciples, states that "THIS generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." What things are to be fullfilled? Read verses 3-33. You might argue that Jesus was speaking about the future but read the entire chapter in context. Who is he adressing? Verse 6 "YE (who was he speaking to? His disciples.) shall hear of wars and rumors of wars"..."see that YE be not troubled" So, by your logic Jesus prophisied falsely. Not so.
You are right freedom! He was speaking to His generation! I would direct your attention to "the last days according to Jesus" by R.C. Sproul, "the great tribulation: past or future" by Kenneth Gentry... unfortunately, it does not help your position when you condemn Jesus as a false prophet. Because all of those things did happen 1st century before the fall of the temple. Check out those books and see the "exegetical" defense of Christ's prophecies regarding "this generation"... He nailed it!
I'm not going to read your books. If you want to research it and send me the references I'll look at them. Now, I want to make it clear, I know Jesus was not a false prophet. He was and is the Savior of the world. Ok. Now having said that, ALL THESE THINGS to my knowledge have NOT come to pass. Not in 2000years. Will they? Yes. But it still leaves the question. Have the stars fallen from the heavens? Has Jesus returned? Verse 30. He said ALL these things be fulfilled within this generation.
It's true the church is wrong because of these reasons. God wouldn't have a prophet teaching false prophecies. He's a liar. :/

These are some short quotes from Saint Irenaeus AD115-202: This man was a disciple of a disciple of John the revelator, and his teachings like other early 'church fathers' indicate what was believed in the early church;

Saint Irenaeus:

D&C 84:1-5 states that the city of New Jerusalem would be built in Western Missouri in THIS (JS') GENERATION.
Can any Mormon out there show me New Jerusalem that was built in Joseph Smith's generation or ANY generation for that?
Didn't think so.
Joseph Smith is a FALSE PROPHET! Deut 18:21,22
