  • All of this dubstep stuff is popular now; no kudos whatsoever to thhis group???

  • This song is about George Lucas.

  • @MaritimeViper Or at least the title is.

  • Shut up, everyone. The ending is glitchcore.

If you'd like dubstep, go here: /watch?v=aVpjPuzlvus

If you'd like industrial, go here: /watch?v=Y8klW9trVTQ

If you'd like a nice big cup of shut the fuck up, go here: /watch?v=s1RkCsrGfAE

  • 1:50 FUCK!!

  • It's Your video? It's awesome man!

  • I think you should have to pass an IQ test to comment on youtube. To many Fuck heads putting their 2 cents in when they have no idea what they are on about. Do some research before you even type the words Dubstep!

  • It blows my mind how much better the remix of this song is

  • mkay. Someone post the definition(!) of dubstep, right HERE on this section. Do it!

[whisper] the ending of this song sounds just like all other dub ive heard. so explain.

  • AWW MAN SO MUCH DUB IM A HIPSTER AND THINK I KNOW EVERYTHING CUASE I LISTEN TO SKRILEX

  • @ChronicDubFan Implying hipsters listen to Skrillex.

  • i posted the original one you made that you said youtbe took off so you can try and keep up to the times ... you are fulla shit and flip flop worse than filipino slippers. ur a disgrace

  • @letsgoforajoyride I'm not sure I'm following. My account was deleted because I had videos that contained clips from movies such as Children of Men and Sunshine. Seeing as Fox work the way they do they forced YouTube to terminate it.

I can't see the video you uploaded because it's banned in Sweden due to clips from National Geographic (which I explicitely remember not ripping from) so I'm not sure what your video is exactly.

  • there really shouldnt be any talking about dubstep in the comments section of anything NIN.. EVER! :( its totally different

  • This song gives me a Batman impression.

  • Comment removed

  • @JoshTheOfficial geez! calm down. keep making shitty music

  • This track came out before everybody and their mother made dubstep. This is glitch-inspired (so much so that there's a VST plugin that pretty much creates these effects in real time). Fuck your wobble-bass.

  • Trent, please never do dubstep. ; ______ ;

  • @KellehChu He never has.

  • this one fucks my brain so hard. pure masterpiece.

  • thus whole album was mediocre/subpar. with teeth was the last great nin album.

  • @AeonBlue07 with teeth was definitely my favorite of their albums. but i love year zero, its got a lot of back story, being a concept album.

  • man skrillex makes better dubstep than this. And he doesn't even make pure dubstep.

  • @AtBunkergateSeven You're from /mu/, aren't you? I'm telling you, don't go down the /v/ path...

  • @AtBunkergateSeven man good thing this isnt dubstep. Good thing trent has this thing called talent. I hope you cant see my potential to murder all things.

  • @AtBunkergateSeven Obi-wan: That's no Dubstep

  • @AtBunkergateSeven He wasn't trying to make dub step you idiot.

  • @AtBunkergateSeven This is dubstep? I must've missed it.

  • Why is everyone talking about dubstep? That garbage is the plague. To the ignorant, it used to be

    All electronic = Techno

    And now it's

Dubstep = The only electronic music genre.

  • love this

  • ....aaaaaaand this is what mania feels like.

  • search on Youtube for "Ross plays keyboard" and you will see the original inspiration for the 2nd half of this song.

  • I like the first half of this song... but the 2nd half reminds me of that episode of Friends where Ross came out as a musician. Sounds a lot like what he was doing.. and everybody hated it except Phoebe.

This is one of the rare cases when the version on the remix album is superior to the original.

  • its cool but not the best dubstep i have heard

dont know why people like this band so much

    theres better dubstep around, people

    just look up deadmau5

  • @Omot1122 its.

    not.

    fucking.

    dubstep.

  • This isn't dubstep, it's industrial/electronic metal you plonkers

  • everybody knows that cells splitting is the creepiest thing about science!

  • LA PROPIA!!!

  • This song is sick!

  • Some boys just can't hold their opal.

  • Let me start by saying that I do not like dubstep at all. But at 1:50, I thought REALLY hard about it...

And decided it wasn't really dubstep, but still had amazing groove.

  • When I was listening to this song I really had to think about dubstep at the end haha. I know it's not the same, but it's funny to see all these comments of angry people that are saying this is not dubstep, yet I had to think about it. And I'm not alone. I love this song ^^

  • awesome video but doesn't go well with the lyrics, but awesome with the music

  • trent, your bass song is orgasmic <3

  • wow. the synthesis is just amazing in this. I real dig it when trent doesn't sing

  • its bass mofo

  • In order to understand Trent Reznor, you have to understand his emotional makeup a bit more. He suffers from depression, which gives a dark, heavy meaning to the music he makes. Listen to the damn lyrics!

  • 4 people never had their ears fucked before

  • Reminds me of the good old days, listening to NIN....

  • aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh what happend ????????

  • Ahh so good.

  • everything after 1:45 is just like an eargasm......like seriously, from that awesome vocal harmony to the insane electronic instrumental/crazy glitchy sounds is just amazingly awesome

  • I see this kind of shit when I'm trying to sleep sometimes. The red and black flashing images of hate and destruction. Rly don't know how to elaborate it better

  • good but...the Sick Cycle remix rapes the original

  • @samgo111 eh idk man the original rapes pretty hard but if thats what you think thats cool man

  • dubstep is amazing... but it doesn't even deserve to lick the asshole of this song let alone be compared with it

  • @7CATALYST25 Haha! I'm saving that euphemism for all eternity.

  • @xBattsey That's not a euphemism.

  • @raystinsky I wasn't trying to be a dick or anything, it was only natural he be let go. It's just a shame is all.

  • @xBattsey I'm not sure we're having the same conversation.

  • @raystinsky I thought you replied to the thing about Blixa? (When I clicked my name on your comment it took me to the Nick Cave video)

  • @xBattsey It's some manner of time disruption. Luckily, I got a Sonic Screwdriver as a present. I think we'll get through this fine.

  • @7CATALYST25 It should also be noted that this existed before Dubstep.

  • awsome visiualze

  • @LordShivasServant You are correct. More than correct. This genre business is getting so, so old. The music is music. People need genres to put themselves in a group. In a community. And there's nothing wrong with being part of a community. But I think people are trying too hard to be like other people.

  • ok...I think i have a musical orgasm...

  • What album is this?

  • @Lostentranslation It's from Year Zero. Track 13.

  • It may not be a dubstep track, but this goes down so well in a dubstep mix, despite it being 150bpm

  • Legend.

  • and who the fuck are you to tell an artist what to do. ARE YOU THE FUCKING ALLMIGHTY CENSOR ?

  • its not dubstep first of all, its still industrial, and secondly some of this video was from the PAREPIN videos that were released with the Year Zero alternate reality game. and to be honest Trent touched this track, which is enough for me personally. i know everyone else wants their own dedicated song by Trent but fuck the man makes music, that music has a message, to beware the evil over-lords but also to be open-minded. so few of us do that now, we have become what we once did hate.

  • THERE IS NO DUBSTEP IN THIS SONG AT ALL. However, this entire album had a lot of glitch influence, that may be what you're referring to. BUT if Trent did do dubstep, I'm sure it would be the best dubstep ever created. As of yet, he has not tackled dubstep. LEARN YOUR SHIT.

  • @drewxpatrick There there.

  • @EmpressRed nope, too fast, or or too slow depending on which way you look at it, dubstep generally being half time @ 140 bpm

  • @drewxpatrick Haha these people got their heads up their asses. Trent Reznor has been making those sounds for 20 years! Way before Dubstep was even a gleam in someones mine.

  • @drewxpatrick Haha these people got their heads up their asses. Trent Reznor has been making those sounds for 20 years! Way before Dubstep was even a gleam in someone's eye. The later half of the song just sounds like he's been influenced by Aphex Twin a bit. That's my take.

  • @drewxpatrick I agree with you there´s no dubstep

  • @drewxpatrick Thank you for being a guiding light unto Humanity.

You could argue just as well that there's hints of Jazz, New Age, House, and Classical or even pop in Reznor's work - it's as if nobody knows any good expression of a genre will inevitably sound like something else from time to time.

Is it me, or is this genre business getting OLD?

  • @drewxpatrick Haha my teacher was playing this in class & i thought of dubstep but i knew it wasn't xD

  • @drewxpatrick This is what I'd call industrial.

  • @drewxpatrick fuck dubstep Drum N Bass is way better.

  • @drewxpatrick the people who think this is dubstep= people who think anything with synthesizers with heavy noise frequency levels, heavy bass, LFOs is dubstep.

it's good to know there's at least one person out there who knows their shit <3

  • Fuckin' best shit to watch when your stigged.

  • I heard if you play zero sum backwards, you can hear Trent say "War is not an achievement".

  • The second half of this song is complete shit, its just dubstep ....Not the NIN I know ):

  • all i wanna know is how trent does that at 1:50. that sounds so awesome :DD

  • you liike it dont you

  • Well, it's said that the music you listen to in the night (say if you left your ipod on) effects the dreams you have. If you want nightmares go with Nine Inch Nails or some SKillet songs.

  • i just watched this video baked out of my mind and it triped me the fuck out! XD

  • so us..humans..paranoid as ever.................

  • Red Horse Vector ( do you understand? if you dont you dont know the nin)

  • @Smodes88

hidden voice if I remember correctly or something?

  • @Smodes88

Hey! i heard this whisper for the first time in the cellphone of one friend but i catn heard it in my computer?

    Do you Know why?

    And yes my english sucks

  • whoa, truly epic music video for an industrial song! cant believe you just made it for fun, looks very profesional :)

  • I can't believe you made this. It's professional. Amazing work man!!

  • Wow listening to this with earphones while coding at 3 AM, and the beginning freaked me the fuck out!!!!

  • O my god... we know the voice of THE Gordon Freeman!!!

  • I love this song-and this is a great video to go with it :)

  • godlike

  • I was waiting to see what you would do during the breakdown. You didn't disappoint. Well done!

  • Cool video and cool images, but it doesn't make sense with the music.

  • @Beastaphile Well yes and no. While I admit some of the footage was tossed in just for the "cool of it", I do think I can justify most if not all of the footage. If you want a more elaborate response, go to page 5 in the comments where I replied to a comment similar to yours.

Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions though.

  • @Beastaphile sweety its NIN, in order for it to make sence it cant make sence at all thats the bliss of his music. great video btw :) i would've love to see trent make a vid for this song, it woulda been epic on ectasy :D

  • great fucking video

  • 1.50 go crazy

  • cool video u make vids for free contactme xD

  • This brings me every good sensation.

  • And yep, nice video to cover it. Best i've seen so far.

  • Dude, you're a genius at video-modelling.

  • This video is fucking insane! I love it

  • i love this song!

  • the fuck happens at 2:29? was just chillin out listening to it and all of a sudden my ears take a shit?

  • @aurlis2012 It's an audial version of armageddon, the high pitched squeeky tones are the cries for help and the dark and brutal tones are the weapons rendering everything asunder. Relisten it with that in mind and you'll get it. But i agree with you that it could've been done with a bit more "symphony" but trent's an "electro" head for lack of a better term. So he favours the digitized samplings.

  • @aurlis2012 I know some might argue that hey.. trent means this as a sureal audial rendering of what would happen if some islamic terrorist destroys the worlds with an atom bomb, or if some dictator pushes the wrong button or whatever.. or 3rd world war, but for those of us who has listened to most of nin's songs.. it's pretty clear that this is an armageddon rendering.. And speaking to those who are waiting for it. The warning, god given, meet your master, etc. is a wave with a flagpole.

  • @aurlis2012 trent knows very well that the whole terrorism shyt is all made up.. not any delicate way to put it.. The people they are fighting are either planted insurgents or ppl angry that their entire family was bombed to death. Same as you would be if you got your neighbourghood bombed with blockbusters.

  • @aurlis2012 And no blockbusters in this relation is not the hit movie you rent down at the movie store, let me educate you: "Blockbuster or cookie was the name given to several of the largest conventional bombs used in World War II by the Royal Air Force (RAF). The term Blockbuster was originally a name coined by the press and referred to a bomb which had enough explosive power to destroy an entire city block."

  • osom.

  • My head feels weird at 2:30 yo!

  • One of the best videos that I've seen in youtube !!

    Great ! Amazing ! Thanks !

  • Wait you MADE this?!

Amazing!!!! I thought it was the real video

  • @MusicalAtrophy It's probably not fair for me to say I made it per say. I cut pieces from various videos and made a music video out of it. (see info for sources)

    Thanks for the compliment. :)

  • @xBattsey its "per se"

  • Fantastic work

  • THIS IS AWESOME! Great work.

  • Killer video.

and shut the fuck up about what category NIN's music does or doesn't fall into. Jesus Christ, that's starting to get old. Genres aren't tangible things and everybody has their own definitions. I tend to call music "good" or "bad" and I think we all know where NIN falls into that ; )

  • I'm waiting eagerly for new stuff from the industrial rockers.

  • I've got a question to who rejected my comment:

Why did you do it? What's your opinion? Did I say "NIN sucks"? I love the WHOLE Trent's body of work. But Trent didn't began Industrial, he took it to the mainstream and he has always refused the "industrial artist" label.

  • I think that whenever somebody begins to use the words 'pure' and 'real' you're walking down the elitist road.

Debating whoever comes first is a moot discussion to begin with, just like trying to figure which blues artist inspired rock n roll the first because everything is too convulated and interconnected with eachother that it almost becomes impossible.

So if you want to take the discussion further please do so in private messages.

  • I wrote pure using quotes in order to avoid these thoughts. I don't wanna be elitist nor arrogant.

  • Used to be when YouTube only supported mono audio you clearly heard "red horse vector" and the muffled music in the background. A bit of a shame now since I really enjoyed that accidental effect!

  • The clip was well done. And the song is great too!

  • wicked.. :D!

  • Rubber Johnny?

  • i wish this song was a tad bit longer.i think it cuts into the crazy synth solo too soon and maybe needed one more part of the beginning music before hand.this is my favorite off the album and the synth part is epic.takes me back to old nin for sure

  • EPIC

    This is a masterpiece.

  • Trent is the creator of Industrial... the Album "PRETTY HATE MACHINE" from 1989 is the beginning of the real industrial...it sounds more dirty than depeche mode and more harder than the cure... but how does it even care so fuck my comment!!! ^^

  • This is absolutely false. I'm a nin fan, but the history tells the REAL industrial began with Throbbing Gristle, during the 70's in UK. What Reznor has done, is just a mix of pop, rock, metal, electronic and noise stuck in some song structure. The REAL industrial is more cacophonous and absolutely careless about the "song" concept.

  • @Marcoago Are you inept? To say Throbbing Gristle was the only band to influence industrial is completely incorrect. Skinny Puppy and Ministry built it but you can only take industrial so far. Trent took it to the limit and pretty much killed the genre because he showed how it is done.

  • What? 4 thumbs down? I'm not inept, but who gave thumbs down to me might be.

Did I say TG was the ONLY band who INFLUENCED the genre? :) No! I just said TG kicked off industrial. And that's true. TG were founded in 1975, Ministry in 1981 when TG quitted.

Saying "Industrial" I mean the original form, "the pure one". Ministry, NIN and Skinny Puppy took it farther and this doesn't mean "they made it worse!"

  • @TheChrissi85 No you are right!

  • From 1:45 it is fuckin insane :|:|

  • Comment removed

  • Damn. Skills....

  • does any know where the mono version of this is ?

  • Video or song? You can convert the song with relative ease with any software (are you on Mac or Windows?) to hear the "red horse vector" guy at 2:30.

If you're talking about video then I explained in the Info box that my previous account was erased from YouTube. When I re-uploaded my video, YouTube had switched to stereo sound instead of mono the way it was before.

  • this one is just...ART

    damn great

    5/5 and favorite

  • Thanks mate!

  • cool

  • paperboy368 do not be afraid to ask questions. You are only trying to understand what is going on. You see thats the problem today is nobody is asking the important questions about the society we live in. They dont care to understand what is happening behind the curtain, but it's alright because the answers we need the most will not be released to the general public. Thats y we have bands like Nine inch nails to help point out the corruption.

  • yea the whole album of Year Zero is like connected to something that i can't remember. but there's all these sites for year zero

  • just proving a point here what genre is this

  • Alternative rock/techno I suppose some would say.

  • lol Nine Inch Nails is industrial metal. They are one of the bands that made Industrial Metal popular

  • They're industrial rock, not metal. Trent has made heavy music, but not metal.

  • @LeodimeII some of it is metal actually, wish is a heavy metal song, as is most of broken....

  • rad drop

  • i know how childish this makes me sound but i dont understand this video could someone please explain

  • To put it (extremely) blunt since I can't remember all the details anymore, a virus is manufactured by terrorists called Red Horse Vector. They shoot this video where they inject an important US ambassador guy or something, showcasing the effects of the virus, and threaten to spread this in public unless they get their demands through (more or less).

Vid's kindof a mental breakdown of the internal effects of the virus inside the human body, on both men and women (hence the shots of the uterus!).

  • this actualy happend or not agai if it isnt ill feel very foolish

  • It didn't happen, it's part of the marketing campaign for Year Zero, the record that Nine inch Nails released in 2007

  • lol it doesnt make you sound childish to not understand, it would be childish if you pretended to know and did not bother to ask. Also i bet most people dont understand it either lol

  • HOLY AWESOME this is great!

  • This is great when you're high.
