I'd like to see how good the radar collision ... thingy works. I'd say avoidance, but I remember reading it doesn't stop the car, but can slow it down to minimize impact.
im a toyota tech and what you're talking about is the radar cruise control. it only controls speed (once activated just like normal cruise control). its just a sensor in the bumper that calculates distance from the car infront of you and keeps it the same. if they speed up, so do your car. same with braking. it slows your car down but it does not slam on the brakes. IT DOES NOT STEER THE CAR!
Yikes! I'll try not to run into a wall like that with my 2010 Prius (52 mpg average over 19800 miles). ;-)

In this case, chest deceleration. It was almost 5 stars in this case (10% or less chance of serious injury is 5 stars; this was 11% average)
