The "Act of the New Generation" saying was taken out of context. He wasn't talking about the Stooges, he was talking about the rock festival he was narrating. Any way you say it, the Stooges still rock
@DiCkRiChArDz ...you're right. i look completely ignorant and unintelligent. i apologize for the inappropriateness of my comments. i made such a fool out of myself by spewing random cuss words from my keyboard and butchering the names of some of the most legendary music icons of all time. i cannot even begin to explain how ashamed i am of my immaturity, and lack of knowledge of chain fast food restaurant menus. well, i shouldn't beat myself up for it. we can't all be like you.
Get everything that this band put out. Like kynoceph said... listen to it till you see it running through your vacant mind, and then listen sumore' and LOUD... Raw fucking power!
Children, children, don't ask "what song is this?" Just go out and get "Stooges," "Funhouse" and "Raw Power." DO IT NOW. Then play them over and over and over again until the songs are in your DNA.
@kynoceph haha, I couldnt have said it better myself. Iggy is in my D.N.A. I would LOVE to see a movie based on his life with Robert Downey Jr. playing the one and only IGGY! ;)
Classic example of knowing what ya wanna do but not really knowing what the fuck ya wanna do. Its the catalyst of all things good. No preconceived expectations.
I have never hesitated to name “I wanna be your dog” as my number one favourite rock song in the world. The trouble is when push comes to shove I’d have to include the likes of Dirt, Not Right, Search and Destroy, Raw Power, I gotta right, Down on the Street etc to my top ten list. When Jon Lennon Died I did not shed a single tear. But when Iggy passes on it will be a river of sadness then a ear to ear grin when I remember what he left us.
@DiCkRiChArDz who started it then? and please don't say something like gg allin...if his lyrics suck, what do you consider good? you just startin' shit or do you not understand rock n' roll?
@pfmo5678ramone Fuck GG Allin. Anyone can shit and piss themselves and act like an idiot. There were many people who "originated punk", do you even understand that word? Iggy pop isn't original. Thinks he's mcJagger. Why be such an idiot? Who lit the fuse on your tampon?
So, considering they started rolling around in '67, who else would you place with them, style-wise?
The Stones, though already psychedelic, were nothing like this. Mick, while remarkably stylish, never crawled through glass...did not create such "noise", did not wear his condition as vividly.

@DiCkRiChArDz i think you're slightly confused with your literary terms. you called him "mcjagger". i told you...well, basically that you're a dumbass. that, my friend, involved no metaphors.
@jorrrrdyn once again, I'm not your friend, and the "value menu" thing is a fucking metaphor. You mean to tell me Mc Donalds sells rockstars now on their value menu?????????? HOLY SHIT!!! You're a stupid cunt. Don't bother replying cause you're making yourself look like a fucking idiot...
@DiCkRiChArDz And your display pic made me puke in my mouth. Then I swallowed it, kinda like a chaser, that tastes better then the image I just took in.
GREAT DOCUMENTARY.EXPLAINS THE STOOGES AND THE TIMES.THE DRUG PART,i didnt get.NEVER DID HEROIN ?.BUT GET THE ENERGY, THE ANGST, THE GOTTA BE DIFFERENT THING,WILL ALWAYS APPRECIATE THE STOOGES AND MC5.very influencial band.
I was there. I did not know what to think. My brother would not let me leave. He insisted I stay. I had no ride. In the end, they were fyuckin' awesome. They were ...like a vesper. They were just them, but,....it was really wierd and a stab to the heart. You cannot see the Stooges. It will stab you in the heart. Lincoln Park, MI 1973
Without question, the greatest presence to ever take the stage, no one can touch him in that arena. Now well into his 60's he still leaves most of his younger contemparies in the dust....
Great stuff from 35-40 years ago. The more recent stuff? He's an anachronism who should find something to do other than recycling a 35-40 year old act. It's a bit embarrassing. I hope the Ashetons made good money from the tours and album, what with having to deal with this guy. Also, he obviously used some of the money ("Lust for Life" royalties in the millions) and bought veneers, which might seem like a good idea (although Iggy Pop with perfect teeth?), but they look too big and too perfect.
Good point about the teeth, and the lack of a relationship between good teeth and music (memo to Shane MacGowan: relax, all is well). So why did Osterberg bother to get those awful veneers?
And what's with all the brand loyalty? The Stooges came up with a great sound in their day, and Osterberg's act got him over (reminiscent of Freddie Blassie filing his teeth during interviews). The first two Stooges albums were a gas 40 years ago, but the form is exhausted, as is the merchant's act.

Hope you have a middle age life so full of life to justify this lame tirade; but you apparently don't really understand rock & roll fundamentals.
seacub7 3 years ago
Sorry-- just responding to "Far out Sydney", no one else!
seacub7 3 years ago
I did not intend to bring disgrace upon the Shaolin Temple. What are "rock & roll fundamentals," and how does one gain an "understanding" of them?
Why would a middle age full of life justify a lame tirade? Either the tirade, if that's what it is, is lame or it's not.
Eh, good for Osterberg. He found some people to support him in his old age.
Signed,
Hater
