  • this is soooo beautiful! brava!

  • she´s beautiful, georgeous and HOT! (sorry about the non-musical comment)

  • What an amazing voice. I could listen to her all day and never grow tired of it.

  • This is impressive. I 've seen Blythe as Cornelia in Giulio Cesare and Eduige in Rodelinda at the Metropolitan Opera and on both occasions I thought she was a singer of fine voice, excellent technique and good starge presence. One of the best on today's stage.

  • I saw her in Seattle Opera's production of Italian Girl, it was amazing!

  • I saw her today in Orfeo ed Euridice also and thought she was outstanding. Her voice is truly exceptional.

  • It really is. Danielle de Niese was lovely as well, of course, but there was nothing quite like her rendition of "Che faro senza Euridice"...took my breath away.

  • I have always been in awe of Ms. Blythe's voice. She is an American treasure!

  • Superb--I just read a review of her Orfeo at the Met, and wanted to hear this remarkable voice. As the NYT reviewer says, she has a big body to go with that supple voice, but i agile and graceful onstage.

  • I saw her today in Orfeo ed Euridice (HD Live Metopera). The reviewer was so right. She was astonishing indeed.

  • I love her voice!

  • I love her but she does not have the coloratura that Horne did in this role but she has the presence and the weight in the voice for it!

  • Is that Juan Diego Florez at 7:17?

    And at 7:35 behind Blythe?

  • I think so.

  • Yes. It's a production from Opera Company of Philadelphia from November 2000 and was Juan Diego's U.S. professional operatic debut.

  • Oh my, that voice is just spectacular...and opera is all about the voice primarily. Brava.

I think that's Juan Diego Florez, Arthur Woodley and Robert Orth behind her.

  • I saw her at the Royal Opera House in london as Azucena in Il Trovatore, well she was the most impressive singer on the stage that night she sent shivers down my spine! there aren't many nowadays

  • Actually, Stephanie Blythe is one of the active singers today, regularly starring at the Met, etc. It is true that her figure may limit her roles at some houses (she has sung Carmen, but not at the Met), but in the end the voice and acting take precedence even in this day.

She is the best in this role I have heard sing the heyday of Marilyn Horne (who also had weight issues).

  • @mjmacmtenor You are right: a great mezzo!! Not big, GREAT!!!!

  • An absolutely brilliant actress. Also, her vocal rendition is so accurate and in tune, which is not true of all opera singers, particularly the ones with too much vibrato. She's right ON! That, I like!

Anyone know who are the others on stage with her? and/or the name of the conductor?

  • It's so fast...

  • thanks for this!

  • Excellent!
