I've been wondering, is there a name for the sounds (timbres) used at the melodic line from 2:45 - 5:37? Anyway they sound wicked nice. Wakeman makes quite good choices in the matter of timbres. The nasalized synth and the keystroke piano, i'd call them.
I like this video because one can see Wakeman's hands at work. I love his musical composition because it seems to capture the wildly erratic nature of Henry and Anne's relationship. Wakeman has created in music that which cannot be written in words. I agree with poster halfing85, however. The drum solo is extraneous, and only added as a concession to appease the English Rock Ensemble in this live performance.

c'mon guys, this song is the most fucking boring shit ever to be made, specially those foororo-raa - foororo-reee foororo-reehe does at 2:14... I find it awfully hard to believe that one can actually have fun playing this B O R I N G piece of DONKEY SHIT. Henry the VIII would kill you, me, himself and everyone after listening to this compilation of CASIO sound banks!
@farnishk Neil is fine, great drummer but a wee bit shy. I was at the concert in Rio that became the "Rush In Rio" DVD. His drum solo is boring too. Endless solos are always boring and by combining them with embarassing tones Mr. Wakeman became king of the equation.
Ashley Holt, not "howe". He is also the guy who shared vocals with Gary Pickford Hopkins on the albums "Journey To The Centre Of The Earth" and "Myths & Legends Of King Arthur"
@Theladyallison This is Rick Wakeman, and his band, and the song is entitled, "Anne Boleyn", from Wakeman's first solo album, "The Six Wives Of King Henry VIII".
I believe that what uprioromnie refers to here are the last words of an archived letter that Anne wrote to her husband, the king, as she sat imprisoned in the Tower of London, awaiting her execution. She signed her letter, "Your most faithful wife, Anne". If Henry had thought Anne the most faithful of wives, he wouldn't have had her beheaded for her alleged infidelities, now would he?
Oh, I think they have a bit different 'ways with the boards', bro... To me, it's Rick, the King and Keith the Butcher :) You have to love them both. To me, Rick was a bit more creative but b/c of the way he plays, Emerson picked interest of the whole generation in classical music. Cheers to all fans.
It´s from the DVD "Rick Wakeman - The Ultimate Anthology". Great DVD of a great musician with lots of great music, by the way. He´s absolutely amazing!
¡Espectacular! ¡Maravilloso!
BRAVO RICARDITO WAKEMAN !!!

@halfing85 Fair enough, at least you're consistent in hating long solos. Rick's a really funny guy, though - not at all po-faced and prog.

Thanks for posting.

About the only "keyboardist" who comes close would Keith Emerson (ELP). Different styles yes, but they have a certain way with the boards.
