  • iam gunna ask a question about ur motor maul do uk if i could use that for a high power car audio amp ik those are only good for short burst but i only need 30 seconds at 3000 watts

  • Hello, nice... very very nice.

greethings from Germany - Rainer - Radio One

  • looks good ! thanks for posting. I don't care if it's a dosy that sucker is putting out ! if anyone has doubt try touching the antenna while keying.... ha keep up the good work

  • having all this power can you hear your neighbour two blocks away ???

i understand competition amps and running big watts but for local chat..3kw...seriously ??

  • what kinda of radio are you using?btw nice setup

  • @1loudsebring In that video I was running a president 2510. I now run a galaxy 939 with variable power so I can control the dead key.

  • very nice setup bro but do u have any extra alternators or are u just using the motor maul in its place thanks. I will have more questions.

  • @WoodyJr27 No I'm running the stock 120 amp alternator. Just run good cranking batteries that deliver energy fast and charge up fast. No boat batteries they don't deliver energy fast and they take to long to charge. number 4 wire is perfect and keep it short as possible placing the batteries close as possible to the maul. I gained around 800+ watts by going from 2 gauge to 4 gauge and making it a lot shorter causing less D.C. current loss. Good luck.

  • @WoodyJr27 So I was looking to find world wide amps on the internet but couldnt find them how could I find worldwide amps.

  • @WoodyJr2 I think the owner was in a bad car wreck and they shut the worldwide sight down. Go to maul droppers.com and they can help you build a killer setup.

  • @WoodyJr27 I am also looking for the sme setup u have with the 5pill and 16pill can u help

  • @WoodyJr27 Hey the worldwide site is back up and running, but i didnt see the price of a few amps like the 16 pill. Could u tell me the price u paid for the whole setup plz.

  • @air4utrane: Well, it's been 4 months+ Where is it? I've been running Mauls since 2004 and have not had ANY PROBLEMS AT ALL. Both of mine are flawless. I guess it could overheat if you left out FOUR OF THE SIX FANS in the case and ran it @ 20 volts consistently. ;) It's a beautiful alternative if you don't have the room under the hood for several alternators. Don't run junk & treat it nicely & you won't have problems. @funnyman1972- Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this video up.

  • killer set up

  • Motor Mauls are unreliable, and they run hot and burn up if you really want to drop the hammer.... They very much fall short of the performance and consistancy of the system I have developed myself. I will soon post the videos of what I am calling the Vmaul..... totally superior to any mobile power supply system available so far. Peace :-)

  • I ran this box without a motor maul and on my meters I could only get 2400 watts. When I hooked up the motor maul it slamed the 4000 watt meter. I'm going on two years without one single problem. I talk on it 5 days a week driving back and forth to work with a 40min drive it never gets hot. I must have got a good one. Let me know when you post the video, Amps are amps volts are volts And watts are watts as long as you get them. Vmaul sounds good. Kinda like V8 power.

  • if i can talk from the uk to georgia on 5 watts (4000 miles) on 14mhz why would you need thousands of watts? how far are you trying to get

  • @BlackGoldEstates: try doing that when no skip is about and lets see how far you get

  • Nice set up, but you should be running that driver box wide open. You could put a 5k slug in the corner if you did it that way on 16 or 18 volts bro. You underdriving that big box

  • @619CheshireCat oh shut your mouth 619, leave him alone. some people like to spend a shit load of money and not run it correctly. Whats wrong with that? Your only wasting your money, and being all gay. Geez give the guy a break if he wants to be up on the GAY-dio. What a whipped whip.

  • Nice

  • Nice set up, gonna put up any more vids of additional equipment?

  • yer breakin the law! teen fo?

  • nice equipment, but I don't like all the spaghetti going on. Got your coax running right through your power wires. TISK TISK.

  • Yea. I have changed everything almost . I have biult a box to put the battery's in with 100 amp breakers on each battery that is all inside the box. put real easy dis connects on the batt cables. And all the coax is lmr 400. That was the same day I installed for testing, It was a fire hazard LOL.

  • good to hear ya did it up right. Put a vid up of the finished product.

  • Well its a great looking bunch of equipment. That much money in ham gear and you could be working the entire world and all legal. Dave

  • Is a PILL the same thing as a transistor?

If it is why call it a pill... you like to play with drugs or what? Stupid C.B.

  • Comment removed

  • Because if I say pill A stupid C.B. operator knows it's value. Kinda like money. What it's worth in watts. And they are a drug most highly addictive.

  • Nice. I learned a lot from This simple video. I'm doing the same thing, but with x force. Thanks

  • Hey funnyman she still holdin up nicely for you. I Never got around to setting up my truck. Ive been doing alot of SSB stuff lately but i do intend on putting some good old AM skip talkin gear in one of these days. 73's dude Be well

    -BigRed

  • I apologize for my last comment, I had a brain fart. The 2290 is a 85 watt final and the 2879 is a 100 final. Count your finals up and it should be close to a bird. At 18v on the big box you should get double the watts. Birds are very unforgiven. The last formula is for the charging system. Sorry.

  • not bad, id throw a bird on that 16 pill and get a new antenna other than that your fine

  • Those of you talking about wattage. On the 2879's this is a 20 amp final, so 20 x the number of finals. On 2290's this is a 15 amp final so do the same 15 x the number of finals. When you volt at about 18 v it will usually double the wattage. If you use this simple rule of thumb, you will be close to a bird meter. Dosy meters are very loose, more so in a mobile. Because they are designed to stay on a desk without movement- no speed bumps, pot holes etc.

  • Well i would have to say that it would look a lot better in my Ford truck......lol I like to cruise it rite there lol( 3,000 )watts holy $hit you dead key more than i would ever think about and i get out like crazy!!!!

  • Dude,

all that stuff is like against federal law and stuff.

  • OMG! I am shocked! I better sell or throw away all my stuff... Thanks for the warning hammy ham Larry...You da man...

  • Thats what I'm for. To help out guys like you :-)

  • havin a ugly ham antanna is against homeowner associashun laws but they love cb antannas because cbers are hot and we can actually talk to people, hams are AMATURES cbers are PROS.

  • your driver is turned down to the min power why?how big is the driver what is the driver doing for output alone?@ 16 volts.thanks

  • The driver is only on 12 volt system from the alt. It is a 1 2290 pill driving a 4 2879s it will do about 500 all the way down and 700 turned up. The radio that is on the video had no rf control so for me to get the dead key down I ran the driver all the way down. I now run a stryker 440 and adjust the deadkey from the radio with the driver all the way up. Hi dead key is the Death of a big pill box. Almost a year and still going strong. Good question thanks for asking.

  • Nice setup. You need to get rid of that dosy watt meter they are junk.I bet you if you had a true watt meter like a bird43 that box wouldn't peg out the 4000 watt scale because dosy watt meters are lieing watt meters they show more than your actualy puting out.Get a bird meter then you can tell people how many wattts your actualy puting out because a bird meter won't lie to you.

  • He absolutely would peg 4 grand on a bird with a PEP board. At 15v a sixteen will get around 3200 at 20 it will get roughly double that, but I do agree on the DOSY I only run a 43 with my 16

  • Thanks for comment.

  • Thanks for comment.

  • Not 3200 watts its 1600 watts rms not bad do nice set up

  • Thats not the RMS wattage.. if you notice the meter is set to PEAK.

  • Guess you don't intend on having children?

  • Hey - I am working on a big system in a little Cavalier ~ will post video soon ~ no motor maul (yet) - looking for a deal on one. Catch ya later ~ NightRider

  • How much where you driving into your driver ?

  • thats great man, i have to save up my money to buy things also. take care and kick so mudducks on channel 6 with that you can run with the biggdogs now!!!!

  • what kind of dodge car is that car you are driving with the motor maul/ i have a dodge neon when i get rich i might do that set up. thanks

  • It's a 2004 dodge stratus. I don't have a lot of money i just got it a little at a time starting with the half inch chip board under everything to hold it up. It was all i could do at the time i was broke and my fatherinlaw gave that to me. We cut it out with a jigsaw and used the carpet as a pattern. Most of the fun is building it slowly and making changes as you go.

  • how far can you talk? and do you have any videos when you are talking to some one with that set up? thanks best wishes

  • I talk on just the driver 90% of the time about 25 miles to and from work. When i turn on the 16 they say they can't tell if i'm in town or not so there is no need to run that kind of power all the time.

  • G'Day from DownUnder,

    Great Video.

What's the meter and switch on the motormaul remote setup.

Looking forward to hearing you keydownunder

    regards

    Mr.MudDuck

  • great video i would love to have the same set up! did you have to get your alter. worked on before final install. also what is the dead key with both boxes? keep dropping the maul...Jonboy Smokey Hills, Tn.

  • No.I used stock alt.The amazeing thing about the dead key is you can set it what ever you want on both boxes but you must have variable power on your radio. The total output on driver is 700 and on 16 pill is 4000 + in the corner.

  • 102" whip plus 4-6 inches added from spring and/or disconnect.. true 108" 1/4 wave is best way to go

  • Yeah... you're right... We all have been through the "trial-and-error" phase. Yes!! I have made several mistakes.. One being I caught a car very similar to yours (1995 Neon) on fire. I was new to running amps, and I depended on the screw in fuse on the back of a Texas Star 500. I had the amp in front of the passenger side seat.. My friend got in and slid the seat- the power wire got caught on the seat rail.. It burned the entire power wire,& melted up the interior real good. That was 13yrs ago..

  • I have learned a lot since then... No hard feelings, I was just doing a little "corrective criticism" --- sorry if I came off a little hard..

  • Try running a radio with variable power.. An HR2510 is not a good radio for this type of setup. Try a General Lee, a Connex 3300, or any single final/AM ONLY radio. There are no SSB delays in either amp... You must run AM only.. And the above mentioned radios sound WAY BETTER on AM.. Run your driver variable @ 2:00 --- and set the radio deadkey accordingly.

  • i am smitten

  • in the back of your neon what is that red box that the 16pill is hook up to

  • if anyone asks you that antenna is a workman sp-2000 or 20,000 i forget. Monkey mades are pricey. but they are alot better. they make them in different sizes, but what you have seems to be working for you dude. Enjoy dropping the maul.

  • Hey ZZ ive found more and more lately that guys arent using monkeymades anymore. A lot still do but a lot are goin back the ol' reliable predators. Am not tryin to stuff an opinion I have both But I know guys that run 24's and have had the 9 wrap Monkeymades arch on them. I've also heard of guys melting the predators with 24's (find it hard to believe) but is all hear say but I will say the Monkeys are WAY to tall for me.

  • k I have some questions

    1. What car is that (if you dont mind me asking) sub compact? not being critical just curious. make and model would be nice

    2. have you ever measured the drive into the 16 pill, and what was it.

    3. How are your swr's and can you take a video of how your antenna mount is put together. I will most likely be setting up an excursion this summer with something close to a 16 pill with a motor maul setup.

  • It's an o4 stratus. The driver all the way down does about 500 watts.all the way up does about 700 watts on my meters. I'm running a president 2510 stock mic.The only down fall is no rf pwr control on that radio. My swr is a 1.1 on just the antenna.but when i run it threw every thing it goes to a 1.3.I used an antenna analizer to set it and had to trim off about an inch to get it perfect on the channel i talk on with a ball mount and a metal plate i made. It's still a Work in progress.

  • thanks for your reply. i think i will start small. with a 2x8 something cheap and something i dont need many batteries for. And I'd rather not drill a hole in my roof, so i will probably use a wilson 5000 mag mount. or a bigger quad mount or i may just drill a hole. What is your order of cables, and why is there coax going to the motor maul what is that for. just curious

THANKS FOR THE REPLY, and thanks for answering my questions hopefully my questions will help others.

    have a good one

  • cant wait, everybody runs around here overdriving 8 pills.... maul money wont be here till taxtime but im hooking up to huge kinetik 2600 amp power cell in trunk for now. friend is an engineer and making me a 5/8 wave antenna from copper pipe with a 15" diameter coil....bad ass...keep in touch will def need hook up info.. thanks... rob..in baltimore

  • Hey quick, sounds like a cool idea with the power cell. Hope that works out well for you. Good luck with the wind drag on a 15"coil at highway speeds--BALLSY MOVE-- I like it NO GUTS NO GLORY!! Just have a nice heavy duty backing plate system have fun and enjoy.

  • cool video. about to do same almost. hav a w/w 16 but a 1 driving 2 as driver... will post video when its done..

  • That antenna looks like a cheap truck stop antenna. You should really step up to a Predtor 10K, you will be shocked at the difference! Remember. Not all antennas are the same as some are more effecent then others. The same goes for coax. If the loss is to great you will not get even half of your power to the antenna regardless how low you SWR is or how much power you see on the meter......i'm sure you already thought of that;)

Other than the crappy antenna looks like a sweet install!
