  • When i put in props almost all don't show up. I've tried to use things like the master interface from HL2, a zombie ragdoll, etc. The only one that has worked is a light... I guess the animations are screwing things up. Maybe I need to use scripted sequence? Any suggestions?

  • @55watawata If you browse the model list, it should have info regarding the types of prop entity that work with the model selected.

  • @heubelmans In its flag properties you should be able to make it start motion disabled.

  • @RandomPieGuy prop_physics , then choose a physics model of corrugated metal. Alternatively, just make a block, give it the metal texture, make it the right size then select it and press ctrl+t. Make it a func_physbox

  • @RandomPieGuy It depends if you want it to be still until acted on by the character. And I explained the way of making the metal if there isn't a model.

  • @3kliksphilip Tf2, and no, i dont really know what you mean by manually configure hammer (sorry) but i didnt do anything fancy to get it running, just told it that it would be tf2 and that it would be running in the 2009 source, yet when i try to find moldels via browse, said "no mdl. files" appears, thanks for the respond so fast :O

  • @Koopsas Before loading up Hammer, try clicking on 'Reset Game Configurations' and 'Refresh SDK Content'. See if that fixes it. If not, I don't think that I can help. Have you pirated the game?

  • How to make objects crush people? So if you press a button it will go down and then 10 sec later it goes up agian.

  • @Taz092 You could do that with either a func_door or an elevator thing. You'd need to ensure it isn't blocked by player, which will be located in the flags tab of the object's properties. func_door would be simpler, but probably isn't as flexible for your needs.

  • I know this is off topic but I made a block which looked like a door. When I rotated to be on its side it didn't look like a door, but rather like a picture of what was behind it. Any help?

  • @Canaidiansurfer Some props will float, others won't. Wooden ones tend to float.

  • @Canaidiansurfer Set the material type to wood. If that doesn't work... make it all a wooden texture!

  • @magernuss They tend to be prop_physics, and they'll do so automatically if you put them in your level

  • F*cking errors all the time!

    I have 2 problems:

    1. Bots are confused... When I start the round the terrorists don't move until 45 seconds into the round. Counter Terrorists are just confused and are just standing where they are moving 1 meter forward and back here and there and just jumps jumps and jumps.

    2. Some of my objects disappear when I play my map. I made a library with a lot of book shelf things but it's just an empty room when I play it!!! >:(

    I HAAAATE PROBLEMS!!!!!! HELP ME! :-(

  • @FanTazTiCxD The reason they don't run anywhere in particular is because your map doesn't have a layout that they can follow- if there is a way from one spawn point to another, they would run between the points.

    Props don't show if you're using the wrong prop type. Try prop_static, prop_physics and prop_dynamic

  • @Garti3 I guess you could use a program called gcfscape to extract stuff from HL2 Episode 2, can't say I've ever tried but I know that it works for maps and textures.

  • Hi. i have problem adding props. I've been trying to add a railway. I can see it on my sdk, but when i test the map. There's no railway. what's the problem?

  • @Juge1sC00l Depends. Does anything else you add to your map appear? If so, then you're just using the wrong prop type for the railway. If nothing appears, then your map isn't compiling properly. Delete the compilelog txt file, compile again and PM me what it says in the newly made compilelog.

  • @3kliksphilip It's not with all props. Only with railways and buildings. btw Do you have video how to make some wall destroyable?

  • @Juge1sC00l You've just jumped from one question to another, and unless you get your map compiling properly again, nothing you add to the level will be visible when you start up the game. PM me the compilelog for your map and I'll tell you why it isn't compiling. And to make breakable walls, select them, ctrl+t and choose func_breakable. It will break once it drops to 0 health.

  • @danieleliasson19 Use props that support prop_physics , not the multiplayer version. You could also try prop_dynamic. Though I don't know how good that would be.

  • @DonTepi I don't really do this stuff, but I'm pretty sure there's more to choreographing a sequence than just that. I suggest looking on one of the major mapping sites, like iterlopers or halfwit, they'll have some detailed tutorials on those topics.

  • Hmm. In my map, under the lighting preveiw in camera, my props disappear when you click them, click off them, and they re-appear. But, the more urgent matter is that they don't appear in-game. This is extremely annoying. Any help?

  • I got a problem. Some prop_static don't show up in the map when I compile it. Examples are the kitchen shelf models (the blue, metal ones). Any idea why its happening? I am curently using the flag "motion disabled" on prop_physics.

    Well the problem is the prop_static. Why does this happend, why wont prop_static show up when the map is compiled? Some prop_static work but not all.

  • @3kliksphilip, anything, just using tree as an example, i type in tree to the filter, the number climbs "0 out of 2339" and in the list box it says "no .mld files" when i first did it a random camera showed up but then it went away, i can view the oil drum in ur optimisation level vdf file and see how it is done but i can not recreate it

  • @clockwise3559 Barrels are named 'oildrum'. Don't assume that anything you type will come up with relevant stuff. Some things have more than one word for them, and only one will be used when naming them.

  • @3kliksphilip ahh now i found it, what happened was that i had clicked on "combine_camera" at the very begining without noticing, so when i searched for something it only seached that section, but now i clicked on all mdl files, thanks for your help, im just an idoit ><
