Everything the referees called was absolutely correct. I would have handed out more than one yellow card though. I am proud of those referees. This is an instant where the players screw up the game, not the referees.

It's not a stupid rule. The closer the goalkeeper is to the penalty taker as it's taken, the harder it is for the penalty to be taken. The players know this rule, and if they don't obey it, they've only got themselves to blame.

Good call by the referee. The goalie cannot do that, period. He can move all over the goal line, but if he steps forward before the ball is touched, that's a foul. Doesn't matter if the penalty kick had to be repeated twice.
