I honestly believe that HTC deliberatly gimped the desire so that they can bring out the desire HD. For example the video on the desire is locked to record sound at 8khz making the sound terrible, desire hd has full 44khz cd quality. But again, don't be put off, you can download a custom rom for the desire that enables 44khz sound. So other than the large screen & camera megapixels (which don't make much difference once you go over 5mp), they are basically the same phones with different software

Guys don't be put off by this review, I have a fix for the desire. You can get the same quality pictures as desire HD by loading your desire pics into photoshop and increasing the saturation, trust me that's all it is. You can set photoshop to batch process your entire photo library, instantly bringing all your desire photos to life.

Just ordered me a Desire HD I'm upgrading on 3 Mobile from a Desire to a Desire HD. I hadn't really read much about the HD, but looking at the camera on this thing, I'm amazed at how much better the Desire HD camera is. It's a massive difference in terms of colour reproduction. I use my digital camera quite alot on my phone when my DSLR is at home, so this'll be a great tool. Basically eliminates the need for a point and shoot now.

everything what is important is optics because physicaly ccd is small so pixels have to be sqeezed and thanks to it picture quality is not good.

I have desire and I know that quality isn't good but in this test movies and pictures are showed on native phone lcd. you can compare quality ONLY if you gonna show it on one exactly the same screen for example on one pc. Desire HD has better LCD (i mean quality of colors etc,) and what is more important it has element of camera made of glass.

Looks like the video on the Desire is more "taken with a cell phone" since you can see it stutter a little when he turns. I'm a HTC Desire user and i have to admit, the camera on the original Desire in not really good at all... The 720p recording unlocked with FROYO is extremely choppy and freezes ALL THE TIME. HTC Desire HD has a much better camera :)

AMOLED screens are over saturated and do not represent True Colour. All you guys with an AMOLED screen need to carry out a simple test. Just view any image on a computer/laptop screen or get that photo printed and compare it with the picture displayed on your AMOLED screen. You will notice that the image on the OLED screen will have far more unnatural or over saturated colors. Do the same on S-LCD screens and you will the exact representation on the S-LCD screen.

U noobs, old HTC Desires come with AMOLED, new one's come with S-LCD screen, which in my opinion is S-CRAP. Samsung cocksuckers ran out of AMOLED and restricted them to Samsung devices only, so HTC turned to Sony for those S-LCD abominations. Once people realise that the old Desires will achieve a status of a collectable and reach astronomical prices on Ebay.

You will easily get fooled to believe desire hd is not capable of displaying good black levels and colors when watching dhd videos on YouTube.. the screen actually is so reflective that it on video recordings gets a illusion on of displaying grey in bright environments.. even when screen is off.. try to take a picture of a photo you have being glass frame.. it will get ruined by the flash.. colors look washed out and black becomes gray.. still your original photo is not to blame..

By thinking logically? The HTC Desire HD was mentioned first... usually things mentioned first are put on the left side while things mentioned last will end up on the right side. Just like reading, you read from left to right... at least i do. The other thing is that the HTC Desire HD has an 8 mp camera and is able to film up to 720p. So, I would expect it to be the better one. Just in case anyone will think: you never know, i still suggest: think logically (if not able, read above)

The htc desire HD has a better camera because its meant too, don't be put off by this test it was not relevant. They made the desire HD AFTER the original desire and yet the original desire manages to beat it on the top 10 phones on tech radar because there isn't much difference between new and old desire. Apart from the size and camera, the camera has a 8 mega pixel camera of course its going to be better and it has dual flash so the night camera is GOING TO BE BETTER:)
