Yeah, wow, I just cant get over faddis' mask. Seriously. I don't think I have ever seen someone so composed through the registers of my horn. I have seen a really firm mask on my favorite local guy, but he is stone.
James Morrison is flat out horrifying. Please note...he plays all the saxes, euphonium, trombone, et cetera, et cetera I N A D D I T I O N to pulling out a couple of jumbo cans of whoop-ass in the swinging and trumpeting department. And FUNKY??!!What a friggin' monster. He's not of this planet.
@jazzmangiant ah and you should post a video of you improving and screaming like every single one of these guys can do. Please Enlighten us as to how you know so much more about jazz and how to execute you knowledge.
@Ibanez3789 yea i kind of figured... but i do the same thing. its because its easier for me to get the right embouchure for low notes when i puff my cheeks.
It's all about air flow. Try dropping your jaw and maybe even ducking your head a bit. Act like you're trying to fill up the Lincoln Tunnel with your air. And relax!!! Relaxation is the key to everything about trumpet playing. Rafael Mendez always said that you should use no more effort than you would in regular conversation. Puffing your cheeks usually means more effort... but we all see how good Dizzy was.
Dizzy is a freak of nature. Theres 1 guy every couple thousands years that just makes everybody go "WHat? how did he? Wait a sec? waht teh f***" and that was Dizzy.
Some players tilt their head foward, some tilt it back. All about a nice big air stream
I love trumpet, a real mans machine. Of all the greats I listened and watched it's hard to say of whom is super-human. I still think that James Morrison really takes some beating. There are some high echelon players out there however the'd invariably take their hats off for him.
shit goes so nuts in this video because they are all trying to compete against each other haha.

I especially appreciate Morrison's sense of structure in his solo. Beginning Middle and End. He does not just string licks together.

I know where they play solos like trade 4 bar
my point is 'where is full solo? not 4 bar. full solo just like james morrison.

Wynton and James Morrison shit on all of them.
Jon Faddis always plays the same licks and Arturo was doing his showoff dumb shit again instead of playing real music.
