The tip of my jack wont come out when i pull the rest out, but i can hear stuff only in the right ear of my headphones when i plug it in... weird! I hope it works for me to!
Hey Guy, Thank you soo Much, I could kiss you . My headphone plug broke off in my ipod, The apple store could not help me, I went to a jewellery store thinking they had small tools to get it out. No one could help and I thought that was it. I am soo attached to my ipod and my great music, i never leave home without it, use it in the gym every day, so you can imagine I was freaking out!!I watched ur vid, stuck the tube of the pen in and wow! It worked I screamed! am estatic!THANK YOU! So smart.
I got an auxiliary cable stuck in my iphone! I didn't even need to use the glue, I just stuck the piece of the bic pen in and made sure that it was super tight and then it came out!! Thank you for the idea!
doing this right now. hope it works. the little bugger is stuck in my car headphone input. nice product endorsing by the way. lol i'll get that super glue and a bic pen. lol
I made an appointment at the "GENUIS" bar at the Apple Store 20 minutes from my home. Spent another 20 minutes waiting for my appointment only to have the employee tell me he had no idea how I could fix it and that my iPad still worked without the sound (spare me!) I came home, looked up your video and had my iPad fixed within 5 minutes! You rock! Thank you for doing this video!
Thank You!!!!! It worked Without the glue I just snugged the bic ink holder in there without cutting it and it pulled that sucker right Out. Made My day I was so mad when my brother handed me my iPhone like the headphone jack is screwed up. Thanks again! .
Thanks for the tip! I've successfully pulled out the broken piece (last segment, the earphone tip), using the exact method described in your video. The key is to find a suitable pen tube (similar to BIC in tube size) to fit in; some pen tubes are too small. Push it in -- you should feel the piece is inserted into the pen tube. Let it sit for 30 min. Just pull it out (don't twist). Note opening the MacBook does NOT help (a Mac pro tried it for me and didn't work).
I love to create a video response later but off to research another problem!! I didn't even have to apply super glue, just checking the size of my tube the stem fit so perfectly it pulled it out immediately (HOW I WISH I TRIED YOURS FIRST) however now that the stem is out I dont have audio still, but put new ear phones in and it works!! ugh but only if I stay still, assuming I broke a spring with tweezers!!!! AHHH
my headphone jack is broken.... i cant hear out my speakers because my computer thinks that i am still using my headphones.... i also cant hear anything he is saying due to this... HELP?
Awesome, Doug! I just had a mini jack break off in my iphone. After some hyperventilating, I googled it, found your video and it worked perfect on the first try! Q Tip trick was no go, but the bic pen tube DOES the trick. Thanks man.
Yah mine broke off and I tried this (did it wrong) and I just got glue stuck in there so I'm takin it to apple and my iPod is jail broken so wish me luck
So tried both this and the Q Tip superglue fix and alas, neither worked! So I asked my Uncle (who can truly fix anything ) and he managed to get it out in minutes AND repair the damage that the superglue did to my input jack! Yay!! Problem SOLVED! If any of you out there need to save yourself some dollars feel free to contact him at @macmcgyver54 - he's in the Portland area
This worked perfectly. I followed instructions exactly; purchased lock tight brand glue, used Bic brand pen, and used a tooth pic to apply the described amount of glue. It was late at night and I was tempted to deviate from the specifics of the instructions as is my nature. But this was was high stakes, my 14 years old daughter's prized ipod touch. It was AWESOME when that little bugger popped out. If you have problems with this method you may have deviated from the directions. DOUG RULES!
wow... thank you so much. i don't know that there could be any better or easier way to solve such a frustrating problem. very creative, thank you so much for your help.
@CrUsHeR2050 Why would u even try to watch a video if u cant hear in the first place fuck face?? Most peoples speakers work on their comp... Not his problem... suck a big one
STEVE JOBS WOULD BE PROUD!!! it is literally two nights before my sister's wedding. i put the pen tip into the headphone jack just to make sure it would fit and the tip popped right out. you deserve money and a book and idk...something for your informative video. i am SO thankful and i seriously owe you my maid of honor status. I LOVE YOU!
awesome video, very very helpful. i also tried the Q-tip way and had no succes then on the 3rd try of using ur way it worked. just wanted to thank ya.
Ok, so I watched the video and was going to try it but was afraid of the glue getting into the Ipod. I searched further and found where someone said to heat an unfolded paper clip and push into the broken tip, let it cool for a few seconds and pull it out. It took me two tries, but I had the broken tip out in 30 seconds.
wow thanks for the video and thanks for actually making it useful i was expecting another "advert video" just like all those how to fix rings of death on 360 videos!!!
I have the same problem on my computer's front headphone plug which cancels the back. There is actually a way to disable it through your computer, in fact I'd done it before on another computer but some much time has pass since then that I no longer remember how. If you figure it out, please make a video on.
I'll keep this short and simple.Put some hot glue on a toothpick, and then put it on:0:54 the thing that looks like that, and then insert it into the tip of the head that broke off in the actual jack.Wait like..less than 5 minutes and simply take it out.Hope it works!I just now tried it.
This seems better than the Q-Tip or the red hot needle. I'm going to try this on my TV AV jack that's stuck. There's also tiny coffee stirrers that are shaped like straws & those tiny straws on the WD40 & computer air spray cans. I may have some of those. Thanks.
Hey man. Thanks a lot! I followed your instructions exactly and after the first attempt it came right out. I let the glue set for 20 minutes and it worked! You saved me a lot of money and sanity! P.S. I used this method on a MacBook.
ahhhhhh:( i need it today cauz im going to travel in a car !! Can you please answer; it didnt work with me i tried with my ipodtouch do u think i have to change the pen ? maybe the whole is too large for the jackkk?
@lila15100 Hmmm. I'm actually checking this right now. The pen tube seems to fit a little snug in there. The reason I used the pen tube was because it forms a vacuum of sorts over the tiny bit of stem left. I know that there are pens with smaller ink tubes, but I'm not sure what kind. Unfortuanetly, I don't have any way of testing the iPod Touch because I don't have a broken piece in mine.
@douglifelsh it didnt work with mine either, it kinda took away a little part but know part of the plugg off thingi has glue and its still stuck in the ipod u_u
An easier method which i used, find a screw small enough to fit inside the jack (<3.5mm) using a screw driver, screw it in such that it hooks onto the piece and pull it out.
@Jman232425 I wouldn't recommend it. There's a big chance that it'll gunk up your socket. Plus it would be difficult to get just a small amount, I would think.
I have a peace of a large headphone jack stuck in my mixer, I guess it's 6.3mm jackplug, but I ripped this little flat triangular part out already with some plyers. Can I use this method, but perhaps with a straw or something with a larger diametre than a bic pen??? Thanks in advance
right, so my pen bit's in there with the glue on it, trying to follow the subtitles as best I can, though when it starts talking about a witness bench it loses me! :P
Thank you SOOOO much for this video. I tried to put glue in the broken end of the headphone cord and plug it back in to make it seal enough to pull the peice out. It didn't work even though it seems like the same concept. I never thought to use the pen!!!! I was so lucky that when I tested to see if the pen would fit, the piece came right out, no glue required!!!! I was worried about continually trying to use glue. You are awesome!!!!!
u kno, the ink in the pen actually works as a glue also, it is sticky and i got out my headphone piece that was stuck like that with a piece of the pen with the ink in it and u have to yank real quik and it comes out. Super glue probably works, but I didn't have any around the house at the moment
At the bottom of the video frame, click on "CC" and then click on "Transcribe Audio." It's not an exact translation and the words are not all correct, but it's as close to subtitles as I can get for now
I had this problem, I put the superglue in the hole of the broken plug plugged it back in left it for a bit and then pulled it out. No pens are harmed in any way using this method.
@roycesboy I gotta sit my ass down and type out the directions. I promise I've been meaning to do it. It makes me feel bad that people can't use the vid because their problem is no audio at all. I swear I'll do it soon.
ATTENTION: Don't wait just 15 or twenty minutes if you are not using Loctite.Other brands of super glue may require leaving the tube uninterrupted overnight or more
All I saw were lips moveing..LOL!!! I heard him a little.Im haveing a problem with a loose connection in my socket. That sounds like I gotta turkey hoo hoo..LOL!!!! I gotta find a video darnit!
This is a real problem in notebooks, the audio headphones fails after use.The manufacturers needs to see the problem and changes to other methods. The RCA plugs is for me an alternative. The can put on rear the PC and it is a permanent solution for this PC long problem.
Hey! It worked for me!! I'm so happy!!
Woohoo! I can finaly hear stuff!

I hope I'm doing this right.

@DarthHedgehog I love it. We gotta save the pens. God knows we're running out!

If you can't hear anything while the plug is still inside just buy a USB audio device it's cheap $13 from micro center iMac 24"

This is a real problem in notebooks, the audio headphones fails after use.The manufacturers needs to see the problem and changes to other methods. The RCA plugs is for me an alternative. The can put on rear the PC and it is a permanent solution for this PC long problem.
