The first couple of seasons were very good, but the decline started with season three. The fourth, so far, is just plain boring. This show has completely lost all momentum and suspense. The wonderful dark humor is gone too. Even the acting is starting to slip. The fourth needs to be the last season, as it is painfully obvious that this show has played out it's part.

I tried the Sopranos, The Wire, Dexter, Weeds, Mad Men, True Blood, Carnivale, but somehow they were not my thing.. not to offend anyone :) but they were just not for me..

@jzvb there is no show to compare to this one it is so good but another intense and somewhat funny show is prison break, the first season to me is the best but it is full of twists and suspense and i thought it was a lot of fun, it made it a little bit easier to wait for the fourth season of breaking bad.

This is a great show that works on all levels (acting, writing, directing, editing, pacing), but that doesn't stop it from being incredibly overrated.

The show has never been realistic...it proved to be a fantasy show right from the get pilot episode. It doesn't hold a candle to Six Feet Under or The Wire when it comes to realism, I have no idea where people get the idea otherwise.

@jaredowty I strongly disagree. I'm an ex-convict, embarrassed to say, and this show is a fairly accurate representation of the inner workings of the illegal drug trade. Maybe not in Albuquerque, but then again I wouldn't know because I've only driven through the city. You would be surprised at the variety of people who are caught up in that stuff, and the show hits the nail on the head in that regard as well.

But now they aren´t doing that. They are for example two and don´t even speak. And calling it a action series is just lame. And I think they brought a whole lot of edge and nerve to the series, even thouh they only appeared in 7 episodes in season 3. And about The Wire. The first season rocks, but not the second one, then it is OK til they finish it off in a big way.

This show started really nicely but then he went from nobody to Tony Montana. Gangster blowing up buildings, it was just too much. I wanted to see how he struggles to get to the top in mental way not just go from nothing to the top. Its as if he made his first drug sale and made a trillion dollars from it. Kind of spoils it.
