Why would you say "although it was a steptronic automatic"? It's a known fact that the steptronic model is a tenth of a second faster than the manual version.
no one is arguing that, its just not as fun to drive and makes the driver not as involved. BMW's are the ultimate driving machines and true enthusiasts will tell you they prefer manual transmissions.
Actually, no, true enthusiasts will not tell you they prefer the manual anymore. I have been working on cars probably longer than you have been around and have been racing (no not street racing) for the last 15 years and I would take the steptronic any day over the manual. There is a reason that manufacturers such as Ferrari have gotten away from manuals. If one knew how to actually drive a steptronic it would be more obvious a choice and yes, I opted for the Step. in mine.
Ok, so you must be really old, congrats. If you were really old and know bmw heritage this wouldn't even be a conversation. Your reference on ferrari is totally irrelevant. Bmw's are Bmw's....not ferrari's. If automatics are your preference then fantastic but I don't need to argue with someone on the internet to prove my point as most people that are drivers will take manuals over automatics and that is not a secret or even a debate.

Then again I bet you are the same kind of kid that thinks AWD is faster than everything because it's AWD. Oh, and don't try to school me on BMW's or their heritage, I'm a certified BMW technician. I never said manuals suck and heritage has nothing to do with transmission choice since the technology now is far superior to old.

I'm not trying to school you, i don't know or care who you are but what i do care about is driving manual transmissions because i like being involved with the car. also i never said you said manuals suck..so quit wasting my time, you make no valid points. good job.
