  • epic bishops

  • Nice tactic! And I also learnt the technical difference between deflection and decoy which I had always wondered about too.

  • Nice game good thought process very creative!!

  • Does this double pronged bishop attack versus castled king have a name in the books? Thanks

  • at 11:27 you move your rook to h6, there is a discovered attack on his queen by your bishop, which is also pinning it against the king: he is forced to take it, and you win - you mate on the next move - i think you had a simple mate in 2 - anything wrong with this?

  • @object16 Rh6 just loses the light square bishop to Rxc4

  • you had it totally won at 11:27 your rook to h6 with the pin on the g pawn, your bishop attacks his queen, if he takes, you mate - why not that?

  • @object16 Ne6?

  • i loved hearing your thought process finally deciding on rook E6

  • You intended to play a gambit, so losing that pawn wasn't a big deal, and in fact helped a lot. That's the whole point of a gambit, right?

  • What a lovely game!

  • you were talking about that rook sac I was scratching my head ,I didn't see it at all, brilliant .

  • 21... Ne6 and 22. Bxe6 is good, but 22. Rxf7 Nxg5 23. Rxg7+ Kh8 24. Rg8 double check and mate would have been a nice finish too, with the lovely bishops pointed at black's kingside.

Also, this was quite a crush with the positional sac.

  • Wow! One of my favorite games! I wouldn't have seen Rxe6!!

  • Nice game; very well played. Could you possible post the pgn for this game?

  • i often make early positional pawn sacs to rip open the centre for my pieces, the attack plays itself, like here, culminating in Rxe6 etc

  • very nice tactics at the end 1 !

  • Seemed awfully one-sided.

  • maybe instead of 17...Qf7 17...Qe7 trying to get off queens? Also doesnt put his queen into same diognal as king.

  • Decoy has a connotation of trickery. You offer a piece the opponent is under no obligation to capture on one side of the board to exploit a tactic on the other side. You are fooling the opponent into abandoning their defense of a square. Deflection is forcing an opponent to move away from a defending square but doesn't hold the same trickery connotation as decoy does.

  • very nice. Those 2 bishops were beautiful.

  • Great game. Love that sac on e6. Yes a decoy is forcing an enemy piece onto a square, deflection is moving enemy piece away from a square or line.

  • that was some cheeky playing KC
