I get the concept, but why? The goal of the future is to get rid of optical media altogether. This is disappointing.

the reason why hardware players have those buttons is because they can't afford better interface (more informative, more graphical).

so, for Asus to translate those buttons onto a large lcd screen is kind of setback.
