I looked up prices for this and it's like 150 bucks for RTF with transmitter and everything! I thought this kind of thing was supposed to be way more expensive. It's like the same price as the smaller double rotor living room helis. What am I not understanding?
In the electronics world, smaller means it costs more. So, a micro (not nano) RTF is going to cost less than a similar featured nano. Being that a nano low featured is the same as this CP heli, it makes sense :)
This is one of those rare circumstances where "too good to be true" need not apply!
Except, they are HARD to learn to fly if you haven't flown one before. Practice!
Thanks for the explanation xxBalialxx. I guess that makes sense. Just to clarify, when you said, "This is one of those rare circumstances where "too good to be true" need not apply" I assume you meant this particular helicopter is a very good price for what it is, am I correct?
ur understanding everything. i have had mine for a year and when i bought it it was 250. i flew 3d today for the first time. the great thing about this heli is that its so twitchy so if u can fly this u cn pretty much fly anything. i have a t-rex 700 and after flying the pro 2 the 700 is a breeze
In all honesty, this vid proves how good it CAN be. With a good pilot as shown, upgraded to roll faster, and so on. From the factory they are great helis too...just need a good pilot.
no, you dont have to upgrade to do 3d, there is a switch on any 6ch tx that lets you change the pitch of the blades which can make you fly upside down
its called negative pitch, the angle of the blade is tilted down when the blades cut through the air it pushes air upwards which pushes the heli down so if ur upside down or in texas that means u go up
The blades spin at the same speed constantly (in theory), the only thing that changes is the pitch of the blade. What is normally "throttle down" on the helicopter instead changes the pitch negative, pushing the air down which in turn allows it to fly inverted. Quite fun, I can't fly inverted yet.
nope, never do that, you will not get good control over the heli, pinch the left stick with your left thumb and finger and the other stick the same with the other hand. it feels weird the first couple of flights flying like that, but you gain so much more control over the heli, especially during 3D flight.
Actually its whatever your comfortable with, each has its own advantages and disadvantages but i've seen pros use just thumbs and he even did crack flying.
yes, but that way, is much more reliable for making an easy slip up, where as when you pinch the sticks, you have full control, yeah using only your thumb on 1 stick is good, but if you slip with that 1 thumb? disaster.
holding the sticks with the index finger and the thumb and not holding the transmitter,,you use a tray. i have been trying to convert but it is hard to do after 20 yrs of thumbing it. you dont have to beleive me. but just check the leading pros. you have a much better idea of input. ie. it responding to you v/s you responding to it...thumbing is cool for sport flying but for accurate flying esp heli pinch is king.
i have a blade cp pro 2 and it flys very well out of the box. The gyro works well and the direct drive tail rotor makes for pretty good control overall. The landing gear is cheap and so is the frame, but the flying is fun and pretty reliable with a 2.4 radio
no i cant quite do that yet, still pratcing. i can fly through the doorways wile followint the heli on foot. Im gona get the CP pro as soon as im entirely comfortable with it. thanks for ur help
No problem. The only reason I say that is because I started out with a cp pro and wish I started with a cx2. They seem to be more forgiving and cheaper when crashed.
the cx2 is quite cheap to repair, and its amazingly rugged, it was my first helicopter ever, and the only parts i ever needed to replace were blades and once a landing skid. They can take quite some damage. The training gear really sucks tho... it makes the heli more crashproof, at the expense of being able to fly normaly. it just screws up the flight characteristics. Also is the CP pro very crash sensitive? becaise im really not good with landings
I would say it is crash sensitive. The wood blades go very quick, I like the carbon fiber they cost a bit more but seem to last longer. If you get the new cp pro 2 you wont have the issue with the tail hitting the ground and stuff falling out (bearings). The only part that I keep lots of extras of are the spindle #eflh1143 if the blades hit the ground somewhat hard it seems to bend. I have only broke the skids once, same with the main rotor and the tail boom, but then again I started with the cp
i have an mcx, and i go to competitions with it every other thursday. i can go through hoops nose in, land on ladders nose in, and all that stuff. the guy at the shop said this would be good to move up to. do you think it's a good idea?
I would recommend a Trex 450 or above these are not very stable and if its your first controlled pitch heli you will spend a lot on mostly blades and some other stuff. In the long run its worth getting a Trex 450 or above because they are stable and good fist controlled pitch helis. Gl on whatever you decide on!
I just got into the Heli hobby by way of a Blade EmCX which I think was a bit too easy to fly. I enjoy it but I want something that can do more. I also don't want to get used to the controls on this heli if a "real" heli like this one has different controls that I will have to relearn all over again.
What are the differences from a controller perspective?
Its a 3D machine when its UPGRADED for twice it's own price. Not worth the money. Save for a rex or some shit. I Fly mid 3D myself. An di can hoover a blade cp inverted and all that, but it's not even fun.
I guess we have different opinions lol. I love my blade cp. In fact, im thinking about selling my cypher 3d and minititan e325 and buying a 2nd Blade to upgrade with my electronics. (dx7 tx, hs65mg servos). I find the blade really fun but i respect your opinion:) O ya gonna but brushless in it!
Its not crap just not very high quality, even when upgraded its highly unstable. Its the nature of small helis. In this video you've got a basic blade cp pro probably bought for 250. after that he changed it to brushless an exta 50-100 bucks. Then you add in the cost of a dx7 200 plus a receiver (cheapest is 50) a better lipo for 40. Total over 600 bucks. ouch. Plus it burns through tail motor about every 10-15 flights. At the very least, i'd reccomend a belt drive like the king 2 or belt cp.
Very true the tail motor burns out alot mine hasnt yet though. But I think there are upgrades for the tail motors. The hbk2's are about the same size as the blade and its a great looking heli and I hear it flys great too. I still didnt upgrade my blade cp cause I cant find the time because of school lol. Peace
Thats really really good kid!! im glad to see someone fly the pro like that! you have inspired me to take the old blade off the shelf and give it a go.
well keep in mind there is almost no comparison from the cp+ and cp pro because with the + all your control first goes through the flybar, then the blades, but with the bell-hiller mixer, the input from the servos go straight to the blades. try the grips without the bell-hiller and you will see why people bad mouth it, esp. since most new owners of the cp are new to the world of helis
I work in a hobby shop and hear people bad mouth the CP all the time. I still use my pro to train with, I think they are awesome little choppers! Learning something on my CP translates into ultra smoothness when I pick up my Rex. Thanks for posting, great vid!
That some good flying for your age. And thats pretty awesome for the CP but its not close to what the Trex can do. Trex does all that times 10, 20 times as fast though, those things are amazing.
Kyle has also replaced the stock rubber head dampers with ball bearings. There is no damping in the head other than what the flex in the plastic headblock can provide.
Kyle is a decent pilot, but perhaps he should spend less time in front of a computer eating junk food while practicing on a sim and consider using that gym for its intended purpose.
As far i know he is using the eflite park 370 brushless motor with 11 tooth pinion but there are 2 kv´s 3600 and 4100 im still waiting his answer wich of both he is using for me it has to be the 3600 cuz with a 11 tooth pinion on the 4100 would be too much head speed, he is using the eflite hh lock gyro(g90), 220mm flybar, and on the tail direct drive motor, wich im also waiting the answer of what dd setup it is.
Can the cp pro also fly regular? Like without having to do tricks??
