Lisa Germano is such a genius--and this song is so great.
"It's always been about lifting me" is an unflinching (and to me, very sad) moment of self-realization, and the ambiguity of the ending--"angel, try to lift me/ angel, try to lift me/ angel, run"--is perfect. Is she saying "try, try, run to me and try" or is she saying "try, try" and then (after the angel has tried twice and failed) "run away"?
Also, do angels turn toward devils (to raise them up), or do angels turn into devils?
Always thought this was about opiates. ANON is an incredible compilation.
