  • At the age of fourteen! as a teen, I had the most memorable dream vision that stays evergreen in my heart chamber. “I am seeing my self as a beautiful coloured phoenix bird and feeling within my soul! I am truly the phoenix. I took a flight towards a Sacred Temple in the dawn, Sun just about to rise. The most blissful and energetic feeling never ever died from my mind. • Makes me cry... one of the best finales to any masterpiece of music...

  • Play every Zelda game in a row, and it plays this when you beat Ganon and get the Triforce...in real life.

  • Wow ! I hope thery play this on my entrance to Heaven (if I ever get there)

  • well this technically isn't a song its a piece

  • Comment removed

  • i would die to hear this from a real professional orchestra ( live ). i think il cry xD

  • @hjiuhfhrehui the cleveland orchestra is doing it this spring! It will be amazing

  • @bluemonkeys51 were will they play ??? :D. unfortunately i cant come i live in the netherlands xD

  • Whoever says this is not a song - just get over yourselves. SIbelius's symphony is not a song. This is actually a song. Without lyrics, though

  • Do we really need to argue whether or not it is a song? It's a beautiful piece of music haha, get over it.

  • Though not the best interpretation.

  • Best graduation music, ever.

  • @hhsmarchingfreak while I usually argue against pedantry...in this case I must agree with MrMusicman a "song" specifically has vocals as it is derived from from the same etymological base as "sing" and is defined as "that which is sung". There are plenty of other terms that refer to exclusively instrumental works that can not be applied to a work with vocals. It's like saying a sonata can have someone singing.

  • This is my favoret part of this Song.

  • horrendous pics

  • This is just brilliant... a little reminder that life isn't so bad after all :D

  • 0:38: Ruined.

  • GSW '11...ah memories :)

  • 1:24 TRUMPET GOGOGOGO

  • I did this song in marching band woo MHS!

  • Jizz in my pants. That is all.

  • Our marching band is playing this in our show, and I must say, it's absolutely amazing.

  • playing this in marching band. not exact of course but still sounds amazing, especially this part here.

Stravinsky was a total genius for this. so full of emotion

  • this was the last song my high school's orchestra played with mr. t before he retired :( it was a flawless performance.

  • If I have to see another "Top Comment" moralize everything stupid, I will cut my eyes out.

  • i have to do a referat about strawinskyiööö

  • I played this amazing song in my band class and played it for our festival on flagstaff az @ NAU

  • I love this song(: My marching band is playing it this year(:

  • @ukwildcatsgirl I'm sorry to hear that.

  • @Sylderon Why would you be sorry to hear that? I love playing it. It's amazing

  • @ukwildcatsgirl Because it's a marching band, that's why. Music is best played when sitting down.

  • @Sylderon That's not necessarily true. Most marching bands sound just as good as concert bands

  • @ukwildcatsgirl Well, not where I went to high school. The marching band had a thin, shrill sound, big and clumsy, no attempt at balance at all, while the concert band was rich and full, aside from being able to do things like change tempo and dynamics, and not wear silly outifits. *shivers*

  • @Sylderon Well that's just a bad band. Not all marching bands are bad.

  • @Sylderon Lol then your school had a horrible marching band. Look up some DCI videos... incredible marching AND music is executed.

  • @asdfpersonguy I don't deny that it was horrible, but there is a time and place for marching bands, and those are called parades. Such a piece of music as this only works in a proper concert hall, with all the original instruments. I've never heard of any marching band with French horns, strings, or timpani.

  • @Sylderon Actually are french horns in marching band, they're called mellophones. They look like a small baritone, and sound exactly like a french horn and are F instruments. Marching band can have timpani, marching bands have a pit, which is where the xylophones, marimbas, etc. are placed, timpani is in the pit pretty often. As for the strings, it's a bit of a stretch, but our marching band has a synthesizer/keyboard with a string setting. It's not entirely ideal, and marching bands play their

  • @Sylderon own arrangements of pieces. It's interpreted differently for the marching field.

  • @asdfpersonguy Yes, and in my experience, those arrangements are simply inferior; they do not have the full color of an orchestra behind them, and combined with the balance issues that are inherent anytime the musicians are not stationary and properly arranged.

  • @Sylderon 2007 phantom regiment = amazing

  • @Sylderon Well, that's a matter of opinion. My band director, who has sat in orchestras as an oboe player, loves the music for our marching band show. It's a different interpretation, in a different style, you can't compare the two because they're two different things... and when a band plays badly on the field just because they're marching then they're sloppy marchers, end of story. Such a widely accepted activity amongst many musicians shouldn't be ridiculed because of personal experience.

  • @asdfpersonguy 2007 phantom regiment = amazing

  • @asdfpersonguy sorry, i totally agree with you and meant to comment on syledron lol

  • I play this last year too

I also played that french horn solo at the beguining

  • does anyone else think this has a hunchback of notre dam feel to it when this song gets loud and picks up tempo?

  • Our marching band is playing this song for our theme "fire"

  • *COUGH!* JUST DIE ALREADY!!! XD

  • Not to be coughed at !

  • crap MY tears almost fell down. TT . TT I regret that haven't heard this song before ....... by the way I really wonder why (excuse me) PEOPLE OF THIS AGE DON'T APPRECIATE THIS KIND OF SONG ............

  • @chowderandchomper I am 19, and I enjoy this and other classcial masterpieces. :)

  • @TeamKween2010 your 19 but still I am 15

  • @chowderandchomper Well, I think it's awesome that you listen to classical music. :)

  • @chowderandchomper 15? WOW! Hey everybody, this person is only 15 AND LISTENS TO CLASSICAL MUSIC! UNBELIEVABLE! I have never heard anything so incredibly amazing in all of my life. GET THIS GUY THE BIGGEST COOKIE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! I DUB THEE KING OF THE YOUNG!

  • @ApesMasCage nah when I am 6 I always hear dad listen to it . He said that's your grandma's favorite song. One day dad and I went to an opera house(I don't know it before) we waited for more or less 15 minutes and the show started (dad said it is an opera house something like that)I felt astonish I felt something want to get out of my stomach. my grandpa said the song was entitled FIREBIRD SUITE,I said to gramps if it is true the bird will be toasted. gramps told me SO SILLY, it's the phoenix

  • There is nothing better than hearing this piece performed live right in front of you. I had the privilege of hearing it performed by the Des Moines Symphony and I'm not gonna lie, I was brought to tears. Music is the most powerful thing any human being can experience, especially pieces like this.

  • Advice: Keep your finger on the volume control.

  • fiona played this you guys yea yep ..oh yea ... im like ... fuck...

  • You just haven't listened to this while you are high... although I am a militant atheist, I fell like I am approaching the gates of the heaven...

  • My alma mater's marching band is performing this for this summer. It sounds so awesome and the drill matches the music so perfectly :D Go Herd!

  • This is the song they play when you get to heaven

  • @Alome9 what do they play when you go to hell

  • @hadesrocs the sound of dying puppies

  • @Alome9 that is a truly awesome response

  • @hadesrocs I know right? :D

  • @Alome9 I would hardly call this a "song". Quite clearly no vocals...

  • @MrMusicman1192 some things are beyond words ;)

  • @Hirukaki By that I assume he means that a song is defined as a composition of voices, whereas this is a collection of instruments playing a piece.

  • @mstrchflolololol exactly, thank you

  • @mstrchflolololol exactly, thank you

  • @MrMusicman1192 so what? i dont understand why you have 2 thumbs up for that. its a masterpiece and heavenly SONG.

  • @possumonu2 it is not a 'song' it can't be! song=sung. come one, some intellectual arguments please....

  • @MrMusicman1192 a song doesnt really need to have vocals, some some that theyve made are litterally drums, or even one drum, and its still a song. (no this isnt a hate comment or me trying to be smart, im just saying)

  • @Alome9 imagine at 2:19 you dying old in your bed and going up to heaven in some type of elevator to see all of your family waiting for you clapping and smiling at you

  • Yeah, way to fucking cough there, asshole.

  • Yes used to open up their live shows with this and move right into a blistering guitar duet with Howe/Squire. Siberian Khatru. It was something to see!!

  • I want this at my funeral, Because it speaks of new life

  • NO COUGH IN DER STUDIO 0:38

  • I'm playing this in my school band's concert, and I realized how BAD the trumpet part sounds without the harp.

  • @anonymous3277 fiona disagrees

  • When I hear this I stand on my chair and move my arms from side to side

  • I have never heard a Symphonic Band play it, as it is meant to be for Orchestra. What does it sound like?

  • @Bickey08 Better than an orchestra. The marching band arrangement is even better!

  • @Cheezit317 Hmm I will have go find it. Cheers

  • I saw this performed by the Berlin Phil on saturday. There were tears.

  • i just got the music today (i play the flute) and listened to a piece of it, i was seriously like, hypnotized. i love this music and it has such a great melody and rhythm and oozes energy. one of my favorites of all time!

  • just believe we are not alone.and yes the bird is real, i have a picture of one! it hides in smoke and with the help of a computer just saturate the picture and we see a large bird! just sent email i will send a picture.

  • When I played this song in band, no one had ever worked so hard. Everyone loved it and wanted it to be perfect (: I lvoe this song!!!

  • Stravinsky: you'll like this bit!

    Orchestra: we do!

Stravinsky: hope you like two octave leaps!

    Orchestra: wait what

    Stravinsky: in 7/8!

    Orchestra: FORTISSIMO

  • omg my band has to play this fer our spring concert and its only a couple of weeks away!!! i sooo cant wait!!! haha i play saxa and i and the leader so........cant waIT!!!

  • I saw this live performed by the Spokane symphony, and I must say, when they got to the very last part at 3:06 , I just started tingling and got goosebumps, because I knew that the epic ending was nigh. And when it all stopped, and they played that penultimate note at 3:25 , it just set me over with emotion, and I cheered and cheered when the orchestra had finished.

    God, I love you Stravinsky.

  • I can't listen to this without crying.

  • My 8th grade all state band did this song this year!

  • This song makes me speechless......

  • Simply awe-inspiring! This song is the perfect arrangment of emotion and power in one song.

May the Firebird swoop down and grab those 6 people who disliked this wonderful piece of music.

  • Troll Rating for user "ImOfNope": 0/10.

    Comment: Obvious troll is obvious.

  • beautiful

  • The opening sounds like hope after going through Hell. I cry each time I hear it.

    Quite Simply, GO HORNS!!

  • I'm into cars so, I'm all abuot 2:11 wicked

  • Beautiful With A Capital B!!!!

  • I cried when I saw this the first time.

  • talk about layers man. this is beutiful.

  • *puts a sign on ImOfNope's cage: PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE TROLL. THANK YOU*

  • @AmadeoImpersonator pfff... he's hardly a troll. He just doesn't have an ear for it and he doesn't realize he's blatantly in the wrong place.

  • @ImOfNope get out

  • @ImOfNope Are you retarded?

  • @ImOfNope Hi there. This music is the illustration to a story about a prince and a princess and a firebird. They, of course, do not exist, but still.. Does Harry Potter exist? Is Lord of the Rings real? no, but still, many people think it's brilliant. I'm not trying to criticize you, everyone has the right to his/her own opinion, but please don't use non-existence as your argument. If you think the music is dumb, that's your own problem. I, personally, find it phenomenal (heavily understated).

  • @ImOfNope Let me guess: You live in a grey townhouse in a boring city where the sun never gets?

  • @ImOfNope You don't exist, and you're dumb.

  • @ImOfNope you are a senseless idiot with no taste who has to spend his time upsetting and trolling at decent folks like me and everyone here because he has no outside life

  • @ShabatyDoob And thus, the troll beat ShabatyDoob.

  • @OhSnapItsRobbyy and thus, you should be quiet

  • Wonderful all of the different visual artist interpretations of the Firebird.

  • Amazing.

The Firebird has such a simple recurring theme line,

    but it is SO POWERFUL!!

    .

I love the complex abstract architecture of BACH,

but Stravinsky evokes such power with an economy of notes simply is a marvel to me.

  • This really makes me want to write classical music.

  • @warriorzin Sincere desire! I applaud you for that! please share it when you are ready with something!

  • One word : STUNNING!!!!

  • ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!!

  • Stop being so foul-mouthed, fool.

  • This song is perfect for a Harry Potter video about Fawkes

  • I could listen to this over and over again on repeat and never cease to feel exhilarated.

  • and people ask me why i love classical music...

  • That french horn solo makes me tear up :')

  • Is it phoenix or pheonix?

  • @InMyOwnVideo lol youtube has auto correction just look at which one has da red lines cmon now get it straight it ain't hard

  • @InMyOwnVideo Phoenix.

  • @InMyOwnVideo phoenix, but it should be pheonix

  • who conduct this?

    beautiful! i love this interpretation

  • @jak2paaa

I guess the conducter is Sergiu Celibidache.

His distintive voice is heard on 2:19

  • @YamamotoFujio

    thank you :)

  • Cough at 0:38 ruins it. Nah, just kidding, this is fantastic.

  • i love this song very much can you send this song for me is callonnec@myhome(.)no

  • I love this epically epic ending! Bravo! Bravo!

  • I played this in band... My favorite piece to play ! So beautiful !!!! It goes from beautiful and slow to beautiful and fast ! Reminds me of Harry Potter...

  • I can see why Yes still plays this at the beginning of every show. It sends chills up my spine.

  • I WISH MYSTERYGUITARMAN WOULD USE THIS ONE OF HIS VIDEOS!!!

  • @DaKrazedKyubizt

    Well said!!!!!!

  • This song gets me every time, I love it! Thumbs up & favorite.

  • Guys, search "running hornline" it's awesome. FIREBIRD.

  • One of the best Contemporary pieces of all time.

  • @xoRacho "contemporary pieces of all time"? Did you think about what you wrote just then? :P

  • @Sarcheliot I wasn't, in fact, because I was so bewildered with the beauty and the magnificence of this brilliant piece. (=

  • A tribute to passion.

  • I think of the Pokemon Moltres, from when I was younger... when I hear this song.

  • Comment removed

  • Wonderful piece, and the bird pictures are awesome; chiefly the eagle's head (beautifully rendered) at the end!!

  • hey travis its actually on thursday. awesome song

  • i am doing this song with my band this monday for are spring concert

  • Out of every piece of music I've ever heard, this is the most inspiring and passionate. It's the only piece of music that can make me consistently cry whenever I hear it.

  • I'm playing this song in band. I get the melody at the beginning C:

  • @eaglepaw5 band renditions of this piece do not do it justice. I'm sorry but you can't play this piece without an orchestra.

  • @doogix I can.

  • @LazlosPlane ...ok? go ahead lol

  • Where do you get these great pictures?

  • i saw this song in a movie about a figure skater who goes blind, and she performs to this song. i love this song!

  • Wasn't this at the end of some movie where someone died or something? I know I've heard it before, but can't think of where.

  • @GuppyPal: It was featured as the music of an Animated movie about 10 minutes long, in Disney's Fantasia 2000

  • I love Stravinsky's music!

  • My four year old son sings this... the version with lyrics on Little Einstein. LOL

  • An interesting interpretation. Kind of slow compared to most, isn't it?

  • True. I've got the original sheet music ( we're playing it in my college orchestra) and the sections are marked with those tempos. I don't know why people play it so fast. I think the slower tempo really helps express how epic this piece is.

  • Some one koffed at 0:38....

  • coughed*
