  • Writing where the video is taken from doesn't explain why you call it stupid, you double ignorant!

  • Stupid video, knowing that it belongs to the spectacular lectures of Bernstein at Harvard University "The unanswer question" Talking on the the Sixth Beethoven!s Symphony "Pastoral"

  • stupid

  • Holy shit this reminds me of being on salvia :D love it!

  • Lovely! beautiful harmonies, friend! I loved it!!!! Oh, and by the way, have you heard of Hermeto Pascoal? Congrats!

  • Ahhh...thank you so much Fabio,...of course I love Hermeto...it is in his "Festa dos deuses" that he harmonizes so well speeches....

  • @VicLowenthal O my, you know him better than I do, then!

  • Lovely! beautiful harmonies, friend! I loved it!!!!

  • a little bit like steve reich ... !

    really good and interesting !

  • stupido

  • @Kolnikov

don't you know how to write in english?

  • @Kolnikov

don't you know how to write in english?

  • gilipollas ignorante

  • Hm, where is the original footage of Bernstein's analysis of Beethoven's fourth?

  • awesome!!

  • Thank you.

I was deeply touched by this video-- no, really, I'm suing!

  • I am curious if he could repeat all those blow jobs he gave at the Dakotas in NYC and be able to talk. "Down we go....down we go...."

    FInale: SPLAT!

  • What's that song he's playing on piano??

  • what the fuck??? harmonise that!! :-)

  • a work of art.

  • I repeat ... what absolute utter shit

  • You seem to have missed the point. You should look at the whole Unanswered Question Harvard lectures at the piano of Bernstein. It's amazing.

  • Did you used any program to do that sound efect?

I mean, to put in midi what berstein says.

  • Stanley Kubrick would have enjoyed it ;)

  • brilliant!

  • He hated that kind of music He hated that kind of music He hated that kind of music He hated that kind of music He hated that kind of music

  • @dadoten1 Now you are as boring as Steve Reich.

  • i like harmonized music education. it's like adding Cassis to champagne...much easier to swallow that way.

  • VicLowenthal, this stuff is awesome! Bravo! :-)

Are you, by any chance, French? This work of yours, as well as your other lovely videos on youtube, reminds me of "Air", "Duft Punk" and other French artists. There is some kind of lovely atmosphere in many of your works, similar to that in Air's music.

Keep on going, man. Good luck!

    Greetings from Serbia

  • "how many times have i repeated the word repeat" is in 15 i believe.

  • thanks..I never did the math....

  • Very clever!

  • "In this short development." Is in seven.

  • how do you make these melodic sounds fitting to his voice or whatsoever this is called?!!!

  • Steve Reich in motion LOL !!!! :D:D:D Different trains, City Life, etc., you know them right?

  • Creative! Thanks.

  • thats amazing

if you like yo check i did some experimental music in my channel.

  • I loved it. The music itself captured Bernsteins own sense of humour wonderfully.

  • Ever heard Artists Ought To Be Writing by Jason Moran?

  • "How many times have I repeated the word "repeat"?"

Loved that part so much. I also noticed that the music can be part of a videogame

  • @dlszviolinist this got stuck in my head. for several weeks. once, i was at a rehearsal, and it started in my head. when rehearsal ended an hour later, i burst out the doors and repeated it out loud maybe 50 times.

  • ...wow

  • Are you familiar with Jacob TerVeldhuis? If not I think you'd really enjoy his compositions.

  • The most amusing thing I've seen on youtube in a long time! Thank you!

  • I don't think many of the people who have viewed and commented on this video can hear, or have an appreciation for, advanced harmony....

I liked it very much and have watched it many times in a row!!!

  • cool

  • amazing...please do more

  • sensational....a young reich haha :)

  • haha! i was thinking something similar! using words and chopping it up and repeating it until they sound like random sounds and not words anymore. i know some other composers did this ( from one of my few modern theory classes... ;-) )

  • Are drugs involved in your life???

  • what absolute and utter shit/

  • you're welcome wagnerlover

  • lol wtf

  • like einstein on the beach by philip glass XD

  • apparently not enough lol

  • fantastic..please harmonize one of glenn gould's long winded rants. He's a perfect candidate!

  • hahaha

  • Fantastic.

  • wtf lol

  • Um...thanks vic....

  • This video is an insult to Bernstein.

  • Reminded me strongly of Reich.

  • Sweet.

  • A good beginning of perhaps a longer piece. Like Reich's speech rhythm 'orchestrations' in Different Trains and City Life, but here in the midst of a lecture on music - what a great opportunity to merge the lecture on to the examples. I bet people would react utterly differently if they didn't see the video or see the captions. Keep at it - it's not finished. Consider, perhaps slowing down one of the phrases until it's minutes long.

  • REALLY LOVE THIS VIDEO.

nevermind all the retards that can't appreciate the music outiside "serious" music. some people appreciate your imagination and your will to do something different, but i really wonder what hides behind what you do.

  • this video is crap !

  • DVD copies of Bernstein's wonderful teachings can be purchased from his website. The lecture series was titled "The Unanswered Question" and was recorded in 1973.

  • 1976, that is.

  • eres un gilipollas

  • in english

  • Trash!!!!

  • How about showing the Maestro some respect!

  • ...u mean by spending time with him harmonizing him and loving what he says to the point of looping his words..?

    is that enough respect..?

I think I 'm getting bored with people with such a narrow mind...who think they can teach me what is respect...

don't waste ur time writing on my page that I should show some respect to the "Maestro"...and using the word "Maestro" is so uncool..

  • Definition of "Maestro": "A master in an art, especially a composer, conductor, or music teacher".

Is this an appropriate term for Lenny Bernstein? I think so.

Personally, to give due respect to Bernstein would be to post videos of his teachings in an unedited format.

  • ..so predictable

  • gets annoying after a while with the repeats.

  • What the crap. :P

  • Not quite what I expected...

  • sounds like whoever made this is an avid fan of Steve Reich

  • stupid

  • that was genius please tell me how you did it

  • This is brilliant. Some may not actually like the outcome, but you must appreciate a good creative idea when you see one (or hear one). This is not disrespectful, I don't think it really has to do with leonard bernstein as a person. I felt like just as I couldn't stand the repeat any longer it would change. Keep working on this idea! Make a whole song.

  • Good! I like it~

  • Yuck!

  • who ever edited this is a fucking retard.

  • Good grief - how disrespectful can you get? He is a legend, you idiot.........shame on you. Get a life. . .

  • Definitely had its moments, you should work on consistency of quality. For instead, the melody you have under Bernstein repeating that line really accentuates the natural rhythm in his voice. That's cool. Accompanying his talking over him playing needs some serious work.

  • what the hell is wrong with you

  • gd gd gd

  • yea muthafucka

  • how about posting the real thing .. full ?
