Stupid video, knowing that it belongs to the spectacular lectures of Bernstein at Harvard University "The unanswer question" Talking on the the Sixth Beethoven!s Symphony "Pastoral"
Are you, by any chance, French? This work of yours, as well as your other lovely videos on youtube, reminds me of "Air", "Duft Punk" and other French artists. There is some kind of lovely atmosphere in many of your works, similar to that in Air's music.
@dlszviolinist this got stuck in my head. for several weeks. once, i was at a rehearsal, and it started in my head. when rehearsal ended an hour later, i burst out the doors and repeated it out loud maybe 50 times.
haha! i was thinking something similar! using words and chopping it up and repeating it until they sound like random sounds and not words anymore. i know some other composers did this ( from one of my few modern theory classes... ;-) )
A good beginning of perhaps a longer piece. Like Reich's speech rhythm 'orchestrations' in Different Trains and City Life, but here in the midst of a lecture on music - what a great opportunity to merge the lecture on to the examples. I bet people would react utterly differently if they didn't see the video or see the captions. Keep at it - it's not finished. Consider, perhaps slowing down one of the phrases until it's minutes long.
nevermind all the retards that can't appreciate the music outiside "serious" music. some people appreciate your imagination and your will to do something different, but i really wonder what hides behind what you do.
DVD copies of Bernstein's wonderful teachings can be purchased from his website. The lecture series was titled "The Unanswered Question" and was recorded in 1973.
This is brilliant. Some may not actually like the outcome, but you must appreciate a good creative idea when you see one (or hear one). This is not disrespectful, I don't think it really has to do with leonard bernstein as a person. I felt like just as I couldn't stand the repeat any longer it would change. Keep working on this idea! Make a whole song.
Definitely had its moments, you should work on consistency of quality. For instead, the melody you have under Bernstein repeating that line really accentuates the natural rhythm in his voice. That's cool. Accompanying his talking over him playing needs some serious work.
Writing where the video is taken from doesn't explain why you call it stupid, you double ignorant!

How about showing the Maestro some respect!
ilaconix 3 years ago
...u mean by spending time with him harmonizing him and loving what he says to the point of looping his words..?
is that enough respect..?
I think I 'm getting bored with people with such a narrow mind...who think they can teach me what is respect...
don't waste ur time writing on my page that I should show some respect to the "Maestro"...and using the word "Maestro" is so uncool..
VicLowenthal 3 years ago
Definition of "Maestro": "A master in an art, especially a composer, conductor, or music teacher".
Is this an appropriate term for Lenny Bernstein? I think so.
Personally, to give due respect to Bernstein would be to post videos of his teachings in an unedited format.
