  • haha great video. I'm just wondering what your experience has been raising the mal around cats? We have a few cats in our house as well as a pomeranian at the moment and i'm considering adopting a 3m old malamute pup from our local rescue. I've researched them a fair bit and i know that they can be a handful but i was just wondering if you had any advice on the topic? thanks !

  • Hobbes - best name ever for a cat :)

  • Oh god yes

  • "bitch get off my bed, sewious"

    I'm da boss. lol

  • d-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • that's a giant puppy haha

  • That is SO cute! Nova totally wanted Hobbes to stay and play :) Completely adorable.

This is how it HAS to be in a house with a cat and a dog--especially a large dog--the cat HAS to be in charge.

Just a fantastic puppy, I'm very jealous :)

  • Puppy: 'I WIN!!!' :D

  • @WeeRubzee betho647 is correct. But with these types of dogs it is imperative they get exercise. Although this is true for many breeds, it is especially true with Huskies and Malamutes. If you cannot give them enough attention and exercise, you should look to a different breed. My Siberian was an awesome dog, but she was very strong willed and a lot to handle.

  • Puppy: Moooooooooommyyyyyyy! She won't play with me! WAH! *paws sheet* There's got to be another toy around here somewheres...

  • I heard malamutes aren't that great with other pets (because of their hunting instincts). Would you trust your malamute with other pets?

  • @priestess1 my mal is 4 and we have 4 6 m old kittens that were born in the house of course there mother was in the house my dog has been around cats and other dogs scince i got here at 8 wk. i have no problem with ours, stray cats she wants to chase but dont think she would hurt them you just have to start young and work with them our chicken and ducks are a different story.

  • Lol

Dog: Pwease Pway Wiv Me! :D

Cat: Bitch, I will cut you...

  • thats no puppy lol

  • Haha at :08 Puppy: Gimme a kiss (:

  • Boom headshot 0:15 :p

  • at the end the cats like fuck you im going to bed

  • @WeeRubzee

    Hi WeeRubzee,

A good rule of thumb is an animal as a puppy can hold it for 1 hour for every month they are old plus one. So a 3 month old Malamute could hold it for a maximum of 4 hours. 2 hours would probably be okay, but each animal is different. Crate training is usually helpful.

My experience has been they are not destructive but do like chew toys, obedience classes would be good for both puppy and human (to train both!).

They make wonderful pets with proper training. :)

  • bitch get off my bed!

  • Fucking cat... He left him playing all alone! You can even see he went "sad face" lol.

  • i have an alaskan malamute :D

  • my malamutes love my cat, but my cat has the same reaction

  • Malamutes are so awesome! that's a beautiful dog.

  • Aw, how cute!

  • that is exactly how my Malamute interacts with cats!

  • And people say Alaskan malamutes aren't good with cats...

    What bull shit

  • did anyone elses mal stink like shit all the time unles you brushed it for literally 2 hours and then gave it a bath, and then the smell would come backk in about a day?

  • @pooonapiece Hey bud, My mal has never smelled, and really they shouldn't. They are pretty good at keeping them clean. Maybe you should check out with a vet to make sure nothing is amiss. Best of luck mate x

  • you can tell the cat's playing because he isn't growling, hissing, or have his ears pinned. The dog is obviously not being aggressive.

    VERY CUTE VIDEO! :)))

  • haha at first he cat just put up with the dog but the it was like "im outa hear"

  • Haha, cute. Cats always seem to put dogs in their place when they live together. Lovely looking dog and cat.

It's less than two weeks until I get my malamute puppy ^^

  • "I"m outta here!" the kitty says

  • That cat has a mean right hook. lmao! "let's get ready to rumbleeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" *lmao!*

  • Is Hobbes named after the comic Calvin and Hobbes?

  • @karhu1913

    Yes :D

  • @betho647 Thats nice, I used to read lots of Calvin and Hobbes. I like your dog and cat. All the best to you :)

  • I like how the dog looks at the camera then at the cat and slaps the cat with his paw!xD It was adorable!

  • gosh i wish my husky was this friendly!!!

    Ugh!!

    A+++ Video

  • Cute Husky checkout my channel see my puppy husky running in the snow and play fighting with his little brother

  • Gorgeous!! Wish my English Mastiff was like this with my cat...but it ain't going to happen! :-(

  • i would really like a Malamute and have a couple of questions for you.

is there anyway possible to train it as a guard dog

does it howl at night and keep you awake

does it get fur all over the place, if so is there anyway of preventing the fur from getting everywhere, such as combing him often

are they affectionate, will he sit on the couch with you and watch tv or even sleep at the foot of your bed

how hard was he to train

i would really appreciate a response to these questions thank you

  • Most Malamutes are not guard dog like like a German Shepherd or Great Dane would be. My Mal does not howl at night and keep me awake. I have to vacuum frequently although brushing would help. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle on the couch with me. She is extremely intelligent, which made her hard to train, but worth it all. Def need to treat them like a companion and an equal rather than being dominant to them. Not all dogs in any breed are alike, but my experience is great. :D

  • thanks for the response just had another question

i work full time, can it be crated for long periods of time, after i get home or even before work i can take it on a daily 10 mile + bike ride, but it will have to be crated while im at work, is this a problem

exercise shouldn't be an issue as im very active outdoors i should be able to give him plenty to do but he will have to spend a good 81/2 hours a day in the crate while im at work i could let him out at lunch for a little while

  • Most dogs can be crated for a period of time when they're older, but as puppies they'll need to go out every 1-2 hours initially, depending on age. It's great that you can give him lots of exercise, but remember it will be time intensive as a puppy and need lots of time to train and bond. Going home at lunch will help and would be good but it might be wise to get a bit older puppy (4 months) if you can't be there a lot initially. The best advice I can give is to get a book on Malamutes :)

  • I love how the mal gave a little mischievous grin twice before he hit the cat lol

  • 0:25 "Can't catch it! Can't catch it!!" :)

  • So cute!

  • 5 months?? oh lord!!!!!! he looks like an large full grown dog!

  • @jessicavm Well Maybe 5 months for a Alaskan Malamute is as big as he, or she will get.

  • yes it is

  • :08-:0:11

    Mal-"you smell nice today"

  • dog: "i'm bored. play with me."

cat: "you're nice, but you're too big, lay off."

  • Aww... so cute! My dog loves to chase cats XD It's so funny. He runs after them barking but when they stop (Since the cats are used to it by now) he just stops and is like "K... WTF do I do now?". LOL

  • LOL! The dog is like "ah man, where'd the cat go?"

  • THIS is how you get a cat and a dog to get along. Raise them together, get them introduced at a young age. They may not react well to other cats/dogs when they're older, but they'll be more comforable with eachother.

Good job on keeping the pup freindly and the kitty tolerant.

  • These two were obviously introduced to each other by owners who know what they're doing.

  • Congratulations on your Mal being so good with your cat! I've seen quite the opposite happening sometimes......

  • Aww that is too adorable. I love it

  • I love your Alaskan Malamute Alaskan Malamutes are Epic

  • Epic! That's the perfect word!

  • soooo cute! *w*

  • Wow, only five months? Huge puppeh. ^^ Your kitty Hobbes looks like my Sunshine kitty. x3

  • thats cool

  • The Ginger Ninja Cat! we has 2 alaskan malamute puppies too, had them for about 2 weeks, 9 weeks old now

  • Haha I needed that(:

  • we generally walk our malamute for 40minutes a day 6 days a week, and yea they do run away if they get free of leash if they.. feel like it, also if our one gets out of this enclosed backyard, he decides to take himself for walks, happened a few times, found him over 2miles from the house within 30mniutes

  • Love it, they get along you can tell. : ) Thanks for sharing posted a vid too.

  • after the cat leaves it's like the malamute's saying "yes I have the bed allll to myself....hahaha"

  • 0:31 i wanna oklay with YOu now :D

  • ohh soo cute ! She dont want to play with him ^^

  • I am getting my own place soon and I want to get an Alaskan Malamute and adopt a cat or two from rescue homes (cuz i love cats too ) =)

I have a question for you, how much exercise do you do with your dog on a daily basis? I heard they need very long runs.

Wonderful animals you have by the way :)

  • I don't do much exercise on a daily basis (unfortunately) because I am on my clinical rotations and don't have much time. But when I get a chance we go for walks or swimming. Nova has an outdoor kennel with a little room to run, so this definitely helps. We also play in the house which wears her out some. She will try to run off sometimes because that's what malamutes and huskies like to do. But for the most part she is really good (and we trained her for that). VERY smart. Good luck!

  • Ya I'm really scared of the fact that they tend to run off. It'd be a very bad day if my pet gets hurt cuz he/she ran off the house.

  • There is no need to be nasty- you don't even know the whole story! My malamute is not a purebred, all 5 of my cats are rescues/adopted strays, and the dane was a gift to my fiance from his family. I am a veterinary student and I spay and neuter animals to prevent overpopulation. Don't just assume that you know everything and that you are right. If you're going to get mad at someone, get mad at the people who do NOT spay and neuter their animals- THAT'S irresponsible and selfish.

  • My Malamute Oscar does the same with my kitty's, one of them will stick around, the other tries to beat him up, he just wants to play, poor thing, he does realize he out weighs them by 70 lbs LOL - thanks for sharing!

  • Aweome video! They are sooo lovely! You should put sme music in the background.

  • aww.....they're both babies...so cute.

  • i like your cat and i like your dog ..

cute long ears ..can he fly with them ?

  • lol Does the doggy chase the cat when they're on ground level or just ignore it?

  • Ignores it. She is pretty friendly.

  • omfg, reminds me so much of my malamute.

I have a video of mine being attacked by one of our cats

  • Cats can be pretty personable just like the dogs.

  • lol thats so funny

  • that is cute

  • the malamute started this fiasco!

  • GET IN MAH BELLEH

  • hes so cute :)

  • so cute. . . geat vid

  • lol the dogs like "the cat wouldn't play with meee. T_T will you?"

  • might seem cute to us, but maybe the animals are thinking about murdering each other but can only express it in cute ways

  • I can see what you're thinking, but all of my animals get along very well and we've never had a problem.

  • I named my cat, Hobbes aswell =D !!

  • LOL the cat is older

  • holy cow..thats 5 months?!

  • th-th-th-THATS A PUPPY?! THATS BIGGER THEN MY DOG! AND MY DOG IS FULLGROWN! SHES A SHIH-TZU!

  • yeah but shit sues <-- .. :D

are tiny from nature.. those alaskan dogs can turn out quite big.

  • good point :P:P

  • cccccuuuutttttttttteeeeeeeeee

  • That'll teach the cat whose bed this is!

  • that puppy is huge..

  • our cats ALWAYS get the better of our husky!

  • man the puppy grew pretty quickly

  • "OI! Do NOT touch the tail! I'll slap you!"

  • the first time my cat saw my new mal pup she run up the curtains

  • Naw! The kitten ditched him xD They're just SO CUTE!

  • it's like that scene in movies where a jock is trying to convince a cheerleader to do things and the cheerleader isn't having any of it xD

    this is really cute ^^

  • This is so cute! Funny how differnt critters can get along so well with each other, and be best pals; we humans have a lot to learn! (grin)

  • So true.

  • they're both so CUTE!! :D

  • Hahaha that cat holds it's own good as! :)

  • Somehow, they know just how rough to be, and how gentle. Amazing. And cute. ^n_n^

  • LOl, the dog is like "Yeah MAH bed!"

  • nova is a coooool dog!

  • OWNED ^^

  • They're BOTH cute! The cat isn't being mean, that's how they play. When the cat senses things are getting a bit too rough it runs off. You have to remember that even as a puppy a Malamute is considerably bigger and stronger than a cat and is capable of doing its feline pal a lot of harm without realising.

Anyway, nice video. Both of them are beautiful animals and it's lovely to see them playing together like this!

  • *facepalm*

  • what u mean

  • It's so cute u face palm? :D
