I like Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde better than the earlier records because they have a much more professional sound. I hate the shitty weak low end sounds on the early records. I wish I could hear proper studio versions of all the classic songs. They sound better when they've been properly produced.

@weezer953 i saw them live in 2004 and they sounded almost exactly like they do on their albums. and they didnt fuck around either or draw the songs out into noodly-ass 18 minute guitar solo epics like most bands do live. they came out on stage, and fucking cranked them out one after the other in a constant barrage of complete perfection

Maybe the best song here...on Trompe. Great college garage stuff...but it really doesn't hold up. Don't get me wrong - I love the Pixies for what they are worth. The majority of their material is rambling non-sense with some moments of brilliance. They totally suck live. Black Francis blew up everything with Frank Black (self-titled) album. That album screamed where the real talent was and Kim Deal....eh. I love the moments...but overall this band was over rated, even for a garage band.

@ProfessorPlum69 It's not a "pompous" review. It's my "opinion", jackass. From 1982 until now, I've seen more than 600 concerts. Does that mean I am some music critic? Nope it's my opinion, asshole. The Pixies suck live - period. Boring and never added anything to their "show". As for their experience...they had some great songs but lacked any talent. David on drums is great. Santiago was a failure as a "lead" guitarist. Deal just sucks period. Black was the only force here really. Opinion!

Oh yea, and made a point to listen to Alec Eiffel (on my Walkman!), at the top of the Eiffel Tower. And listened to River Euphrates, "dead sea make u float" with that same Walkman on my chest, floating in the dead sea. Ya, I'm a pixies fan. Guess I gotta head to Memphis and Roswell!

Wow, I can't pick between any albums. Whatever Pixies album I am listening to at the time is the best one ever!

Picked up a Doolittle cassette off the shelf of HMV, with no knowledge of the Pixies at all when I was 19, in 1989. Liked the cover art and was searching for music. It immediately became my favorite album. On first listen my friends asked "are you nuts?" Within a few weeks friends started to get it.... Seeing them soon on the current tour! YES!!
