They would keep her alive at all cost even against her will because it made them feel good about themselves. It must have been all those years her dad made fun of her weight coming back to guilt him.

If you bothered to read the autopsy you would find that the coroner had determined that Terri had been aspirating into her lungs for quite sometime. So if Iyer claims what she claimed about trying to feed her. That is medical malpractice on her part and she would be open to criminal investigation.

In fact, the judge had police stationed in Terris room and the police wouldnt even allow her mom to give her a glass of water. She didnt die when they removed the feeding tube. She died 2 weeks later because cops with guns were stationed there arresting people who wanted to even give her an ice cube. The court order was that she could get no food or water. (I have a copy of it).

It deals with the definition of death. At first, before the 1960's you could define someone as dead only at the cessation of blood circulation and respiratory systems. Then that changed when a heart transplant (that stopped blood circulation and technically killed that person.) was successful, the person "died and survived". So the definition of death at that time made many unacceptable implications and so we came up with a new definition. "The whole brain has to cease functioning."
The controversy about terri shiavo comes into play now, because it demonstrates the insufficiency of that definition. She was no longer conscious because her cerebral cortex was permanently damaged. Yet parts of her brain could still function such as brainstem reflexes. But because she was permanently unconscious she could never think, feel, or do anything uniquely human again. But by the lawful definition of death, if a doctor took out her feeding tube they would technically be

Did you know that her husband gained 1.5 million dollars by her death(from a trust fund that had been awarded him through a court case to care for her) and that he was engaged to another woman before she even died. She was a human being and could still feel the pain of being starved to death, which took 14 days by the way. She was in no way terminaly ill before removing the feeding tube. How would you feel to have a sibling slowly starve to death while you are powerless to do anything?

When the doctors told her she was going to be taken off life support she acted very agitated and upset. This woman didn't want to die and didn't deserve to die.
Also I would argue this to those that think she was a vegetable, why would they tell her they were going to kill her? That makes no sense. And it is tragic because dehydration is a very slow, painful and horrible death. I know a 5 year old boy that has a feeding tube because of SBS. He is just like Terry was. But this boy is alive and his grandparents would never dream of taking the feeding tube and allow him to die just because he is brain damaged.
I'm no brain surgeons, but the brain surgeons said there was no way she would have regained the lost neurons. Google for her brain scan, it lost so much mass that i'm not sure if you could say she was anything more then a shell. It's sad that this happened, but I think we need to realize that this is one of the horrible facts of life. She was gone before let let her body die.

She was just like my grandmother, who suffered a stroke and an ruptured vessels of the brain. it took her years to recover but she managed to drive and do many things after. the point is, people should not be murdered just to convenience others. Her family wanted her kept alive. It was her abusive husband that wanted her dead so she could never tell what he did to her.

They never found any evidence of abuse, nor did they find evidence of the husband "paying off" the doctors. He "oddly enough" had a girlfriend because his former wife had been braindead for a decade. Thats incorrect they were banned for a short time after they were caught trying to feed her when she couldnt swallow. The coroners report showed that she had been aspirating into her lungs for some time. They refused to visit her the last week and instead gave press conferences. It was the family that came up with the beating story a decade after to try to demonize mike. The brother and sister even made up collaborating stories about how he was supposedly violent towards them.

If her husband hadn't tried to kill her she wouldn't have been in this condition to begin with. Then he sued the doctors, got the money, never gave Terri the rehabilitation he promised to make sure she got, then he just got rid of his little problem by killing her with the help of some unethical monster of a judge and just walked away to finish living his life... but one day he will face his maker.

The doctors found out that she had fractured bones in her neck. At first she was IMPROVING quite a bit untill Michael Schiavo won a lawsuit and collected a bunch of money. She was on Medicaid at the end of her life. Michael took care of her well to the point where the nurses were agitated by him because he was always on their case. She was rehabilitated she was unresponsive to rehabilitation. I have my facts straight. I've studied this case for years its obvious you haven't otherwise you would have simple facts correct. She was responsive to the rehabilitation that she at first reciveed before Michale got the money. In fact, she was improving wuite a bit. Even after she was put in hospice, she was responsive. I heard the actual recording of her answering "no" to questions her dad was asking her. BTW, Terris loved ones werent the decision makers.

@cathplyr I have read the affidavits of Iyer. I've followed this case longer than you have. Terri could not swallow. If you bothered to read the autopsy you would find that the coroner had determined that Terri had been aspirating into her lungs for quite sometime. So if Iyer claims what she claimed about trying to feed her. That is medical malpractice on her part and she would be open to criminal investigation.

@ColonPal Her parents wanted to care for her, but judge Greer wouldnt allow it. In fact, the judge had police stationed in Terris room and the police wouldnt even allow her mom to give her a glass of water. She didnt die when they removed the feeding tube. She died 2 weeks later because cops with guns were stationed there arresting people who wanted to even give her an ice cube. The court order was that she could get no food or water. (I have a copy of it).

@cathplyr Simple she wouldn't have collapsed if it wasn't in the cards for her. Her brain was deprived of oxygen for 15 minutes after she collapsed. Man intervened and saved her. They did it again years later. You do know the schindlers testified in Court that they didn't care what Terri's wishes were that they would have amputated limbs, had open heart surgery on her and kept her alive because her being alive made them feel better about themselves. This was all about them and not her.

It deals with the definition of death. At first, before the 1960's you could define someone as dead only at the cessation of blood circulation and respiratory systems. Then that changed when a heart transplant (that stopped blood circulation and technically killed that person.) was successful, the person "died and survived". So the definition of death at that time made many unacceptable implications and so we came up with a new definition. "The whole brain has to cease functioning."

everything terri did was reflwx, she was PVS. She was evaluated by several accountable doctors and several neurologist.
quick fact: her EEG looked exactly the same in 2000 as it did when she died. They were flat. She was gone. She couldn't make any decisions on her own, she wasn't cognitive. she did not do anything for a purpose or consistently everything she did was inconsistent. her heart was beating, that was it. she wasn't alive. there is a fine line between living and being alive.

I heard her brother speak tonight, and that is not true...the only sort of suport that she was on was the feeding tube..she could breathe and blink and was beginning(according to nurse reports) make slow progression towards speaking a word.

that is not true she was never going to speak words again. pvs is a condition where as it goes on longer you get worse not better. Her brother is kinda funny him, his sister and father didnt even visit her for most of the time she was in that condition and only started when the cameras were on them. The state of florida considers a feeding tube to be a form of life support. Breathing and blinking is a lower brain function and is automatic. She couldnt swallow without aspirating.

Did you know that her husband gained 1.5 million dollars by her death(from a trust fund that had been awarded him through a court case to care for her) and that he was engaged to another woman before she even died. She was a human being and could still feel the pain of being starved to death, which took 14 days by the way. She was in no way terminaly ill before removing the feeding tube. How would you feel to have a sibling slowly starve to death while you are powerless to do anything?

He did not gain that much. When all was said and done he got around 750k and most of it went towards her treatment and expenses. The last few years of her life she was on medicaid. 15 years of being in a hospital drains money fast. Try staying in the hospital for a month and see what your medical bills are. Youre making an assumption that people in a vegitative state feel pain as we do. Her higher brain functions were gone. Also you do know when youre on a feeding tube you stillfeelhunger

The police did an investigation that night and there were no signs of foul play. Every thinking person made a decision in this case and the final result is the logical conclusion. Also I would argue this to those that think she was a vegetable, why would they tell her they were going to kill her? That makes no sense. And it is tragic because dehydration is a very slow, painful and horrible death. I know a 5 year old boy that has a feeding tube because of SBS. He is just like Terry was. But this boy is alive and his grandparents would never dream of taking the feeding tube and allow him to die just because he is brain damaged.

I'm no brain surgeons, but the brain surgeons said there was no way she would have regained the lost neurons. Google for her brain scan, it lost so much mass that i'm not sure if you could say she was anything more then a shell. It's sad that this happened, but I think we need to realize that this is one of the horrible facts of life. She was gone before let let her body die.

She was just like my grandmother, who suffered a stroke and an ruptured vessels of the brain. it took her years to recover but she managed to drive and do many things after. the point is, people should not be murdered just to convenience others. Her abuse happened several years before that. It's how she got in that shape to start with. And the drs were paid off by her husband, who oddly enough had a gf. They should have allowed the parents to care for her in her home. You can't justify just killing anyone. There have been cases of people in comas for YEARS and suddenly wake up. Totally incorrect. There was never any abuse. The police investigated this from the day she collapsed. Oddly enough Terri's father encouraged Michael to date and her family met his girlfriends. They were okay with it until they thought that somehow they were entitled to the money.She wasn't in a coma! They never found any evidence of abuse, nor did they find evidence of the husband "paying off" the doctors. He "oddly enough" had a girlfriend because his former wife had been braindead for a decade. The parents couldn't care for her in their home, for numerous reasons, not the least of which was the cost, and need for a medical background. She wasn't in a coma, she was in a persistent-vegetative-state, which is very different. Have I missed anything?

You are right that she wasn't in a coma, but she was not braindead and according to nurse reports was slowly progressing. and I heard an interview with her parents on Joyce and Dave's show The Power Hour, and how they recalled several incidents where their son in law beat her so bad. But she was loyal to him when she should have left him and had him arrested. But he kept on until he killed her. He destroyed her by putting her in that condition then he talked drs and judges to sign her death sentence. It's sick and un Godly by alll counts. We are supposed to protect the innocent. The coroners report showed that she had been aspirating into her lungs for some time. They refused to visit her the last week and instead gave press conferences. It was the family that came up with the beating story a decade after to try to demonize mike. The brother and sister even made up collaborating stories about how he was supposedly violent towards them.

This is quite common with people who don't eat right, most end up dead. Terri just ended up a little MORE brain-dead than she was before she went on the diet.

Any thinking person would know that after 15 years the body would have repaired any damage resulting from anorexia. God killed her WAY before the medical professionals were keeping her alive. The only reason she lived as long as she did was because of the miracles of Science and because her parents had no sense of morality and justice and apparently hated their daughter to make a fool out of her.
