@numberonemisfitsfan I would hardly call Gene an overrated player. Not many people I know talk about how great of a bassist Gene is. That said I think he's the perfect player for what KISS needed. Good groove, great thick and nasty tone. Nothing fancy...just the right amount of business. He never just pedals notes, the parts are well thought-out. And yes, a great businessman.
@Kewln00b The only truly 'difficult' part of the song is it's triplet feel. If you're accustomed to straight-forward 4/4 beats, that swing feel may mess with you. Counting it as '1-and-2-and-3-and-4-and' may help.
if this is gene it must be off the newly recorded ones. Cuz you can google how hard it was to remaster the destroyer album cuz of how bob ezrin records. So to have single tracks like this. Its totally pro tools off the newly recorded stuff....
The problem wasn't not being able to isolate the tracks, it was the effects (on each track) that couldn't be touched. When Sean Delaney said that they had to master everything to match the Ezrin stuff for Double Platinum he was referring to the overall sound and levels. He specifically mentions effects like reverb were mastered in the final product & could not be removed. This doesn't mean the tracks were all mastered into one. This is absolutely the Destroyer bass track.
I doubt the authenticity of this. Some of the playing is pretty off. For example, at 0:38 - that's a major timing flub to leave on a record.

It seems like the Destroyer version should have a cleaner tone...I bet this is a re-record.

This has Bob Ezrin written all over it. You can hear how much Gene's playing had improved since the early days.

Do me a favor sarcogram720. I need you to isolate the guitar and post it if it's possible.

No this is really Gene. It was leaked from Rock Band and only the Destroyer version of DRC was used in Rock band.
