this is wrong. The image at 48 seconds showed 46 pairs of chromasomes - 92 chromasomes in total.

@delic619 dude there are actually 46 chromosomes in total because you have 22 chromosomes * 2 because you have 2 copies of each plus the X and Y chromosome so that makes it 46 not 92

@ilikechess1 i know man, i'm just saying that the image shows 46 pairs, NOT 23 pairs. if you count them, you can see. If they are homologs then this is a false image but if they are sister chromatids that have been suspended during pro metaphase or metaphase then i guess thats ok. I'm just saying that its really confusing to some one who is trying to learn about chromosomes because my little sister is learning about genetics and she couldn't get it and asked me. Thanks for the help anyway man

since there is probability of pairing them , is there a chance that X and Y wont pair ? I mean if 22 pairs are already paired , why does 23 pair has to be X and Y , is there some mechanism or ???

if it going to be a boy then the y - chromosome will pair with the x - chromosome but if its going to be girl then the x and x will pair

noo most people have 46 pairs of chromosomes, 23 chromosomes. sperm and the ova have 23 . . . because if everyone had 23 chromosomes and 23 sperm/ ova chromosomes we would all look the same thus meaning we would all die of infection as if we are all the same our bodys wont be emmune to everything as if ith a differ some people will die some wont saving the population! (sorry for the rant :D)
