To blur the background you can also try to lower the Aperture value to like 4.5 or even 3. It creates less background distractions and allows you to only focus on your subject(s) :)

Hi!.. nice pictures. I also have the same camera. but I cant find the way to blur like that. the battery drained so fast, then charge for too long ( 4hours ). kindly any one teach me how or what should be the settings to blur the background of a picture?...

@ everyone who wants to make a "blurry" background, it's just focus. Depress the shutter button halfway while focused on your subject, and while keeping your finger on the button, move the camera so that the subject doesn't necessarily have to be in the middle. this can be done with any simple point and shoot camera.

@allyounoobsoutthere ...well the "blurriness" of a pic depends on 3 things..like the apreture, distance from the subject, and focan length(wide angle--telezoom)..basically if u set a big apreture(smaller f number) u will get 'blurriness'-small depth of field...search for depth of field and how to control it...

I believe the settings are in the depth of field category, you have to manual focus to your liking. I am not saying im 100% correct, But I have been reading and I think that's what it is. I am ordering this camera tommarow

@desig1rl You need a low f stop for bokeh that will satisfy. The Nikon's lowest f stop is 3.5. It may be difficult to get the "blurred background" you want.
