My only gripe with Bebop was the lack of build-up towards the ending. I felt that there should have been some backstory with the Red Dragon Syndicate in the last 5 or so episodes before the finale.
I agree about the lack of resolutions for everyone but Spike. Even Ein could've had an episode about his past. I didn't care for "Tank!" at first either. How many times times did you listen to it? A lot or like once or twice?
The ending felt *rushed* and the lack of closure with the main characters hurt the overall series albeit it was still a great ending. Side-note: I did not agree with spike dying and the lack of resolution combined; I easily feel that if he lived I could forgive the creators inelegant endings for Faye & Jet's story lines. This anime is fantastic and a pillar among anime.
The thing about this show that's unfortunate is that it's always confined to an anime mindset when reviewed. It's not just a great anime, I think it goes beyond that. I'd like to see a review that places it in the world of all pop culture (quality wise), because it's not just great anime, it's one of the greatest series of our time.
I don't like you comparing Trigun to Bebop. Not to sound all fanboyish, but Bebop is an anime I enjoy even when I'm bored of anime. Trigun on the other hand, is boring no matter what- I didn't like anything about it, not Vash the stampede, not knives, not the cartoony-overblown-goku-like way that Vash refuses to kill people, it was one of the most disappointing animes I've ever seen.
Over the summer at my dad's. My brother woke me up at like 2:00 in the morning saying he couldn't sleep, so I turned on the TV. Adult Swim was on saying Cowboy Bebop was up next. "Hey, I've heard of this show" I thought. The second it started, I was hooked! It really shows every reason why I love anime....that was a great morning.... ^^
Great Review! I think you really know your stuff and I'd love to watch the rest of your reviews. I just really enjoy listening to you, you know your audience and the anime your talking about really well, but instead of rambling, get right to the point. "Excellent" job ^^.
@steve5123456789 Yes. The movie technically does connect to the series in-between some of the episodes but its such a minor connection it hardly qualifies as one at all. Like most anime films based off anime series, this one can be seen with or without seeing the show beforehand. Trust me, I highly recommend seeing the series regardless if you saw the movie before or after.
Also, I don't agree that the other characters didn't get a resolution to their stories. Think about it. Ed found her father, which is what I think she was looking for the whole time. Jet really didn't have much of a story other than his backstory, which we got. And by the end faye has gotten her memory back. They may not have ended as well, but I think they did get their proper endings.
@ElfenLied619 Ed just walked off after finding her father and never really showed if she found him or rekindled with him. Faye didn't get everything back, she got some of her memories back in a half screwy video tape, we don't know if she stays with Jet or leaves or what they do or anything like that. We got an ending but we didn't get a resolved ending.
As for the green flashes it was a glitch in the video editing process, I tried to fix it but it didn't work.
good review, have to say tho i liked cowboy bebop more than trigun, also i thought the team from outlaw star was better connected than the bebop team, who work better individually. that said, agreed with the rest.....part from the op, i love tank.
I love Cowboy Bebop, the greatest thing about this anime are the voice acting, characters design, stories, and especially the music. Great review, BS. How about you review something old like Slayer. Slayer was my childhood second to Ranma 1/2.
like you said i would take trigun over cowboy bebop any day but they doesn't stop it from being one of the best anime out there sometimes it isnt just about how good an anime is , how much you enjoyed it sometimes plays a bigger role
I LOVE Cowboy Bebop, easily in my anime Top 3. In fact, I had never even seen the series until about 5 months ago, and it instantly hooked me (something NGE very much failed to do). I can't think of an anime that has every single aspect flow so perfectly together. I've seen alot of other reviews that bash this series for it's episodic nature, but I like how you pointed out that the reason it's so interesting is because it can do all these different things with each episode. Great review man!

You should do a review on highschool of the dead. It's a short anime series, but it's still pretty good show overall.
