Challenger 2 got a L55 rifled gun, firing shitty sabot, and quite useful hesh, with a great range. It uses 2 pieces ammunition, and is very accurate, but not in nato standards. Abrams gun is a license made M256, L44 smoothbore gun, less range and accuracy, but terrible sabots, good Heat, and single piece ammunition.
and in all probabilty i doubt this tank was destroyed, it brolly just took out the road wheels and skirting, maybe the engine, the only way the crew compartment would have been comprimised was if it was an EFP, but an EFP blast is not that big, so all 4 crememeber prolly walked away from that!
all in all tank on tank warfare or even ied survivability, the tank tops the list, i dont care if ur a stryker fan or not, the m1 tank system is the most heavily armored in the work, and to this day there is nothing out there that can beat the survivabilty! NONE
@Mihail86 the only Abrams tank crew member killed was kill when the bridge their tank was on collapsed and i believe it was the tank commander or gunner that was killed and the tank was back in action in two days if my memory serves me correctly.
@profanum88 OK ill give You an example once a Abrams tank was engaged at 500 meters by a Iraqi tank column and one got off a lucky shot which went through the engine and hit a fuel line causing the tanks rear housing to catch on fire. but it continued to destroy all enemy tanks. since i could not move we were forced to destroy it with friendly fire (4 HEAT rounds each from 2 other Abrams, 2 hellfire missiles, 3 javelin anti tank missiles,and 500 lbs of c-4 placed inside the tank)

Besides modern tanks are pretty much the same, and pretty old shaped charge - weapons can penetrate them. (Like the AT4, with a grenade from the 80's), and theres modern rockets for the rog7 (105mm).

@archangle117 OF course, you don't attack abams on front, the only result will be a burst of cal 30 in your ass, but on sides, roof and rear, RPG 7 can penetrate it, LARGELY, Roof is 50mm of steel, hum dude RPG7 original warhead is 300mm penetration. Sides are protected with spaced armour plates, so you won't penetrate armour with a single low power RPG7, but powerful charges proven to do it (RPG29 passed throughtout the tank), it's 70mm Hull armour + 20mm skirts, and only steel.
@archangle117 halft of turret side is made with the same composite armour of front, but rear of the turret side is steel only, less than 100mm, and behind are stocked the ammunition, BOOM (the anti blowout system may save the crew, but not the tank). Motor is protected against bullets up to caliber 50, so RPG in that and good bye. It happened, for example in bagdad battle, a abrams was hit in motor by a SPG9, and tank burnt during 36hours, crew escaped.
@PATRONSKiii No Abrams crew has ever been killed by enemy fire. All Abrams lost to enemy fire have been mobility kills on it's engine/tracks/fuel cell. IEDs have had a slightly higher success rate but still minimal. This makes me assume that the numbers you are giving for the armor strength are off.

@Pauliebuck RPGs dont make such a large explosion. it was definitely an IED. whether the tank is destroyed or not is inconclusive, but you can see whatever was strapped to the exterior of the tank was sent flying. might have killed someone inside though from the pressure wave.
destroyed is where it cant be repaired other than a couple of parts flyin off and the track coming off this tank is still good just cause there was a minor blast next to it doesnt mean it was destoyed.

Many M1A1s were destroyed by RPG side hits in each Iraq war. This M1A1 was totally destroyed. In the video, the turret can be seen flying forward and hatch covers flew in the air. This indicates the hull was pierced and the interior was subject to blast pressure. Sorry you M1A1 nut huggers, the M1A1 simply isn't impervious. Read more about tanks, do your research.
@hitekracing There is another part to this video that shows only the track got knocked off. And also that was definitely not the turret flying off, it was a roller off the rack. The M1A1 is stronger than you think. You should read up more on tanks and do some research, youd be surprised what tanks can do.

1) There is a part that has been edited out of this video. The Iraqi insurgents singing in this video actually found a 250lb aerial bomb and rigged it as an IED
2) The Abrams got blown to pieces

Challenger 2 got a L55 rifled gun, firing shitty sabot, and quite useful hesh, with a great range. It uses 2 pieces ammunition, and is very accurate, but not in nato standards. Abrams gun is a license made M256, L44 smoothbore gun, less range and accuracy, but terrible sabots, good Heat, and single piece ammunition.
Both guns are totaly non compatible.

and in all probabilty i doubt this tank was destroyed, it brolly just took out the road wheels and skirting, maybe the engine, the only way the crew compartment would have been comprimised was if it was an EFP, but an EFP blast is not that big, so all 4 crememeber prolly walked away from that!

@profanum88 OK ill give You an example once a Abrams tank was engaged at 500 meters by a Iraqi tank column and one got off a lucky shot which went through the engine and hit a fuel line causing the tanks rear housing to catch on fire. but it continued to destroy all enemy tanks. since i could not move we were forced to destroy it with friendly fire (4 HEAT rounds each from 2 other Abrams, 2 hellfire missiles, 3 javelin anti tank missiles,and 500 lbs of c-4 placed inside the tank)

In Iraq tanks drive around civilian cars all the time , although i cannot find any information on it i think this tank might have been in a convoy at the time.

@archangle117 OF course, you don't attack abams on front, the only result will be a burst of cal 30 in your ass, but on sides, roof and rear, RPG 7 can penetrate it, LARGELY, Roof is 50mm of steel, hum dude RPG7 original warhead is 300mm penetration. Sides are protected with spaced armour plates, so you won't penetrate armour with a single low power RPG7, but powerful charges proven to do it (RPG29 passed throughtout the tank), it's 70mm Hull armour + 20mm skirts, and only steel.

@archangle117 halft of turret side is made with the same composite armour of front, but rear of the turret side is steel only, less than 100mm, and behind are stocked the ammunition, BOOM (the anti blowout system may save the crew, but not the tank). Motor is protected against bullets up to caliber 50, so RPG in that and good bye. It happened, for example in bagdad battle, a abrams was hit in motor by a SPG9, and tank burnt during 36hours, crew escaped.

@PATRONSKiii No Abrams crew has ever been killed by enemy fire. All Abrams lost to enemy fire have been mobility kills on it's engine/tracks/fuel cell. IEDs have had a slightly higher success rate but still minimal. This makes me assume that the numbers you are giving for the armor strength are off.

Many M1A1s were destroyed by RPG side hits in each Iraq war. This M1A1 was totally destroyed. In the video, the turret can be seen flying forward and hatch covers flew in the air. This indicates the hull was pierced and the interior was subject to blast pressure. Sorry you M1A1 nut huggers, the M1A1 simply isn't impervious. Read more about tanks, do your research.

1) There is a part that has been edited out of this video. The Iraqi insurgents singing in this video actually found a 250lb aerial bomb and rigged it as an IED
2) The Abrams got blown to pieces
3) No tank in the world can survive a 250lb blast. In-fact most anti tank mines and anti tank missiles are around 20lbs of explosives. However, the bomb exploded on the side of the road, so the tank didn't take the full force of the blast, but it's still a huge blast.

This video was debunked. 1} It is an M1A1 Abrams. 2} the huge pieces of debris flying out of the cloud of dust have been identified as HUMVEE parts. 3} if you listen to the sound track of the idiots it wqas added AFTER the blast. 4} Watch the debris fall out of the sky. Much of it comes from a different direction. 5} The video ends before you can see anything. If you are going to prove you are badass you need to at least show the world your trophy.

I was just saying that I HAVE NOT READ THEM!! If I see an American comment saying KILL CANADIANS, I would say something to that American. (I seem to live in really far plants)? @admoonhermiz OK.. I'll say it one more time..The word TELL has a E in it and not an A. Put an E and the end of dud and you'll have the word you were trying to say DUDE!!! And remEmber has a E where I capitalised it. There is NO WAY you could possibly be originally from Canada. You were obviously born and mostly raised in a foreign country and moved to Canada and you're still trying to learn the language. @admoonhermiz I only ask why your page says you are from Canada because it really surprised me to see a 26 yr old canadian that doesn't know how to spell the words Shit and Tell. Also..(wounder) is spelled (wonder) and when using the word (witch) in the context you were using it in, it is spelled (which). I thought you were from another country and lying about being from Canada, but I'll take your word for it. I'm not trying to trash you and your spelling, I was just seriously surprised.

You can't seem to understand when someone is trying to be nice to you. Is coming into youtube and starting arguments your main goal in life?
