some of the comments seem exaggeration.Can't rate this as classic. verses are pretty ordinary.Voice is awful. Sorry but I am disappointed. But I do admit that Shiv Kumar Butalvi's some other poems/songs are truly classic and extraordinary.

@arsheds I think the recording is old and was not made on a good recording equipment. I think his voice has very strong effect. I have listened to this recitation with a few people who don't know a word of Punjabi/Hindi/Urdu, and even they told me that this sounds painful. But of course, you have right to your opinion. He was a patvari by profession in Punjab. He was no professional singer but the punjabi vocabulary that he coined is unmatched. My father saw him sing in person. He would sing at the end when he was pretty drunk. he would raise his hands towards the sky and sing whilst crying and coughing. A real life Devdas, absolutely unmatched brilliance.
