In terms of ripeness, the best digital microscope for the best price is on dshype .com - just search "300x" and you will find it. It's like 48 bucks (pretty cheap), and works VERY well.

They could be turning yellow because of a Nitrogen deficiency if its the whole leave but thats more of a pale or unhealthy green not completely yellow. Or they are no longer recieving enough light and they plant will shed ineffecient foilage. Or oh wait i'm not done

In my opinion from what Jason says ideally you want to extract the 'drug' from the plant. The Pharma' corps are already making some drugs from the plant. I've been happy with raw natural buds off the plant. Medicinal, spiritual and recreational uses differ technically and legally. A certain amount of wine can be brewed for personal use & commercial wineries pay tax right off the top. Medicinal cause has helped the movement toward freeing people allowing use of this amazing plant, thanks.

Question: I have an ebb and flow hydroponic system 5 plants 600 w hps 19 in above tops well ventilated i am having a prob with my 2-3 week olds they seem to be getting browning of the roots at the tips and im hoping thats not slowing there growth if you could help or anyone else thanks!
its a type of mowey thats the one thats doing it the worst but i have a mazar which seems to be fine and 2 hong kong one is fine the other is not im using botanicare metoblolic grow, karma, and sweet im doin full on the sweet and karma and the smallest recommended 1 tsp of grow per gallon at the moment i just covered the flood table see if that works...i do have a ph prob i dont know if its cause they use a buffer in our water here but it goes up alittle untill i get enough ph down in it
I have covered the roots and the PH is been between 6.3-6.5 they look like they are already getting better i also gave them more humidity reading that root rot will start with low or too high humidity...wont allow (DO) disolved oxygen levels to be at the right amounts...thanks for the help

It simply tells me the bud is mature.
How mature the trichome is that depends more on the flowering time and genotype (strain).

A guess would be the leaf scoped was degregating (dieing) not from over maturity rather sppent energy that the plant has used.
Trics on a degregated or deficient leaf can vary well act as a amber looking mature tric
Just speculation without seeing the leaf or knowing how many leaves your scoped is hard to pin down...
